Thanks for the solid review. Weightlifter here for about 7 years (retired crossfitter) and I’ve been using the L-1’s for about a week and a half and I’m very happy so far. Have been in Adidas powerlifts, adipowers, Reebok original CrossFit lifters, Position, Nike rom 2’s (my fave) and Rom 4’s over the years, and these are by far the most comfortable lifters I’ve ever worn. No slippage at all with the wider toe box, and they feel very solid and stable to me, a lot like my Rom 2’s. I actually do feel like I get more foot surface on the ground coming out of the hole in snatches and squats, and it’s a good feeling. I don’t really notice the flex in the TPU heel during the actual lifts, and they don’t compress, so this hasn’t yet been an issue for me, but I’ll keep an eye on it over time. The one thing I do notice is that midfoot is a bit less aggressive in terms of arch support as compared to the Rom 2/4, so perhaps that's what people perceive as the shoe being more "flexible", but there is still ample support there and I think that's done to enable a more active tripod foot. I don't feel that's it's squishy or sloppy, and it doesn't seem to interfere with the lifts. Ultimately, if they’re good enough for Hampton Morris, they’re good enough for me, lol.

That´s a lot of shoes for only 7 years of Weightlifting.

@@TinyMusicSweden some of those were used during the CrossFit years, before I switched to WL. Last 8 years have been mainly the Nikes before the TYR’s. Plus, what can I say, I like to try new things. I end up selling off all the ones I no longer use.

Got mine a week ago and I love them. I often train in barefoot shoes so these have been amazing. I get that wide toe box and still get the advantage of a raised heel and solid shoe for a lot of lifts. I also got the black and now I'm happy about that 🤣 A+ Tyr.

I wonder how do they compare to the Foosts. For me to buy the L1s, I'd pay more than twice what I'd pay on the Foosts; I really dislike shoes that keeps my toes together when I squat, so I'd prefer to pay a little more on something safer, but it's hard to argue with the price difference, specially if the Foosts is still comparably wide on the toebox.
@AMRAP
@AMRAP Год назад
Honestly I prefer foosts. They've got a nice wide toebox and even though I don't love the heel height, it's solid. The material quality isn't amazing either though.
@JBFan1ist
@JBFan1ist Год назад
@@AMRAP thanks! I just got my foosts this last week. They're my first ever LPO shoes, so I can't say what I think about their height or how the materials compare. Rn, they're using different materials from the one you tested, that to me feel pretty good and somewhat comparable (visually, using other shoes' pictures, or other athletic shoes from Nike, Under Armour and etc.). From what I understand (and could find), they don't get to the US a lot cheaper than other LPO shoes, like the Romaleos or Savaleos. However, here in Brazil, they're easily less than half what you'd pay to get any other shoe I could find, sometimes even before taxes.

Weightlifter here. Tried these for a week. The amount of flex in this shoe felt sloppy - especially in the jerk. I like the direction that this shoe is going but I’d be interested to see what the next iteration feels like.

Invaluable input. Lifter here as well. I don't trust squatu since he seems like a slimey marketer when he talks about this shoe and I've seen no real lifter talking about them. I had the power perfect 2, didn't love them, followed by volt rom2s for 6 years. Then legacy L2s which were amazing too and great tow box but midfoot hurt me on the outside of the foot, strange. I got cheap aliexpress shoes which were too soft in sole and upper, so I get what you mean by flex= sloppiness. My last shoe is rom4. The materials on that one are the absolute best. It is a shit shoe though. Heal slip for days. Narrow toe box, in a romaleo?! Left and right shoes not identical in size. Ended up giving up on them because my pinky toes are absolutely mushy now, nerve damage coming soon even though I sized up.

That was just to give you some info to get your opinion as a lifter. Wide feet, can't find rom2 at all in 9.5 - 10. I imagine you're wide as well since you tried the TYR. Recommendation? Please and thank you!

I always have trouble with any athletic shoe because of how thick my feet are around the front and makes it a pain to find anything lol. Looking for this kind of shoe and it's hard to find much info on shoes as a non average size/shape.

Just watched your video and really enjoy your honest review. Been doing lifting for about 2yrs and I decide to buy lifting shoes. Could you please help me to decide: 1. Since it's my first lifting shoes, is TYR suitable for me? 2. My Vans' size is perfect at 42.5, does TYR has to be sized up or just the same size?
@kozmo7
@kozmo7 Год назад
I would do more research on which model you would want for your needs. Lifting shoes typically have a .75 in heel height and go up from there Then there are intro oly shoes that have around a .5 heel height that are for CrossFit or for people that don’t want so much heel height and want to be more mobile in the foot Look up a video called 8 best weightlifting shoes and it should help you out 😊

Antas are a lot more stable and heavy (anta 2 weighs about 25oz/25mm drop). Personally I don’t have a problem with the toe box but the midfoot can feel brutal after extended wear.

@@abadran8174 I transitioned to wide toebox shoes recently, and thought that might've been better to go from a 10, down to a 9.5. I'm still a 10, my foot is narrow, so the wide toebox did not merit a size down. R4s are comfortable for me in size 10.
