In this video we're listening to T Rex, or Tyrannosaurus Rex, once more. This is one of their earlier works, and we barely know anything from that time from them. We're so excited to hear more from Marc Bolan and friends from this early incarnation of the band. Enjoy!

Very early song, still sounds great today. Truck on Tyke, Jeepster and Children of the Revolution are worth a reaction 👍. Good to see you back in action

Given the state of popular music today, even Marc Bolan's fey nursery rhymes sound better than I remembered.

One could say that if T Rex stuck to this Format of Peregrin Took on Bongos and Marc on guitar they would never had made it bigger than their Glastonbury Hippy following ! When T. Rex went "Electric " The Hippies dropped them , and the rest of the World got to hear a Fantastic Band that were sadly cut short when Marc was Killed in a car crash in 1977 !RIP Marc Bolan .

Tyrannosaurus Rex made totally different music to the later T. Rex. Marc's music at that time was unique to him, dj Bob Harris said you couldn't hear anything else that could have influenced him and you either got it or you didn't. I read that your usual naysayer has piped up again with criticism of something he doesn't understand thinking that all Marc is singing is Debora over and over again when in fact he is simply making sounds with his voice because the band were only a duo and Tony Visconti (producer) recorded basically what they did live with no overdubbing. His lyrics at that time were pure Tolkinesque poetry and hard to understand not only because of his voice but because he used very personal metaphors, the hippies loved him and I was one of them. Beautiful little tunes with mystical lyrics, check out Cat Black (The Wizards Hat) from the album Unicorn 1969, my personal favourite Bolan song and also Afghan Woman from My People Were Fair And Had Sky In Their Hair But Now They're Content To Wear Stars On Their Brows 1968 which was his love song to his wife June Child who always wore an afghan coat, de-rigeur clothing for hippies back in the day. Those lyrics are truly beautiful and the day he left her for Gloria Jones he lost his muse and his music died a very quick death, that Zinc Alloy album is truly dreadful as was everything thereafter.

This is a decidedly-average Tyrannosaurus-Rex track........compared to other Tyrannosaurus-Rex gems that better represent the spirit of this band/Duo. There were DOZENS of vastly more enchanting tracks with more catchy melodies too : e.g. She was born to be my unicorn; Lofty Skies. By the light of the magical moon. Thanks nevertheless for featuring this band. It is good that you are always exploring various music that is unfamiliar to you, and doing so with an open mind and open heart. You channel will doubtless be especially enlightening for some of your U.S. viewers/ listeners where your largely-British content was less exposed back in the day. Thanks for making your channel available.

Bowie did the same with the Spiders, they were hired musicians and paid a wage and that was down to the manager/record label contract/publisher not the band leader, songwriter. In 1972 I was earning eight pounds a week (28p an hour) so they were doing good.

Even charismatic Marc Bolan couldn’t save this track that contained acoustic guitar and Bongos ffs with mainly one word Debora being chanted over and over . It’s total pish in my opinion but it did usher in Marc’s more fruitful and tuneful period with hits like Jeepster which was my fav of his though there were many to choose from - this wasn’t his best effort imho 🤷‍♂️ 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
