Tyrone Spong preparing for his It`s Showtime fights next months. Training by Rayen Bindraban www.reat.nl Special Thanks To Tyrone and Rayen! (26-4-2011)
Lol i speak dutch and at the start the trainer asks: What are you gonna do with this footage, this cant be on youtube! The camera guy replies: no this is just for me
Soooooo everyone and all the muscle heads in here criticizing his workout..........he has over 80 wins and only 7 losses, what's your kickboxing record? Lol
Que increíble el trabajo de fuerza en un solo ejercicio , incorporando las distintas variaciones de la fuerza y terminando con algunos ejercicios de potencia por velocidad y por pliometría. Muy instructivo .Gracias
in addition to his fight (skill) training, i think constantly varied high intensity functional movements in addition to increased work capacity across broad time and modal domains can only enhance any fighter or any athletes overall performance OR do cross fit ;)
i think this program is actually effective...he worked on the core, back and hips thrusts which are not only effective in k-1 but only in grappling and jiujitsu
Seems like pretty comprehensive training to me. He's cover muscle hypertrophy with the power lifts, fast twitch fiber development with the clean pulls. Calesthetic work in there also. I kind of expected to see him doing bigger numbers, but I guess he's kickboxing, not mma where them guys focus more on condition. He's still a strong beast though. Nice to get an insight into top level fighters training program.
hes not trying to build muscle. he's trying to keep muscle. theres a difference. he most likely likes the speed he has now, he likes where he's at, and for a kick boxer, he's right where he should be. great fighter. he's the professional, not any of you kids knocking him.
@Wc3ALifestyle it isn't even the exercises but if you read my first comment it says it's Incoherent. So What is he training here i can't say what phase he is in. how many weeks out from a fight is he? is he training for a fight? Is he doing strenght, speed, stamina, Coordination?he is doing all. That's why i said i see what he is TRYING to do but he can do it Better! the focus COULD be more on strenght or musclemass for bigger opponents while between fights whilst for a fight technique& stamina
@videomike219 well a lot of kickboxers train that way here in germany and the netherlands.its usually splitted in day1: deadlifts,pull-ups, bench press day2: squats,bend-rows,military press between the days is a rest ofc,but i gotta agree at some point with you, some exercises in between are just unnecessary like this boxing thing with dumbells
@videomike219 that's why netherlands have the most dangerous fighters in the worlds...and spong is of course one of the best of the best. You seems to be a specialist ...
People who are training for strength, power or speed; weather isolated or functional train completely diffrently to each other. So to all the body builders out there, theres a damned reason why this guy is so fast and powerfull. Body building to look good is completely diffrent to diffrent training methods for diffrent reasons. As their job (and paygrade), they'll be making bloody sure that they're doing the right training.
Thanks for all the great experts who comment on this video, especially my favorite videomike219, if you cannot see that this is just a "funtraining" for the cameraman and some fans and the whole setup was only to please some people and make some promotion. You really need to checkout the universities where you got all your degrees. Please post one of your well balanced and periodisized, custom made training please. So we all can enjoy your great knowledge. Greets Rayen Bindraban
Powerlifting has weight classes just like Olympic Lifting. For some reason everyone associates powerlifters with the Heavy weights and Olympic Lifters with a lighter weight class. Exceptions to your "theory"; Powerlifting - Tom Martin Olympic Lifting - Vasily Alexeev
as a fighter i can tell you.. lifting isnt nessicery it is a definite advantage. and the reason fighter like the diaz brothers stay in the top ten but never number one.. iv trained hard going to the gym multiple times a day. and iv trained exclusively mma. and while lifting theres a definite advantage in just the way you feel on the mat. its that deciding factor. i mean i dont think you should be any type of athlete especially pro in any sport without your time in the gym. but i understand you.
As if that means anything. I used to be 115kg and I was deadlifting 131kg Being able to lift a lot doesn't mean anything, he isn't a bodybuilder, he's a kickboxer and I guarantee he would fuck you up in the ring
@videomike219 How do you suggest he should train ? There is NOTHING wrong with his training. He is no bodybuilder nor is he a powerlifter. The basics of weight training for fighters are as it goes - doing explosive fast lifts, doing only compound movements (no isolation), minimal (to no) rest and doing sport specific exercises like the shadow boxing and the core training. Doing jumps and other plyo movements is critical to a fighter. And you do need to cover the whole body.
@Freshdealy57 Good comment! exactly what i ment. I was "burning" his strenght & conditioning and especially the trainer.. But this has nothing to do with his performance in the ring! Just that this training made absolutely no sense what so ever..
figthers need to do a training named super series where u dont have time for breath and for stop after thna u finish to do a chain of several exercises, death lifting, abss, press militar, squat, bench press, and and all this whiout stop that is for gain resistence and endurance and at the same time power and streng but must to work with elasticity and stretching in a single session. is not easy specially for top fighters a training like this is hard to finish.
@videomike219 bro.nobody show his really training! all have secrets.this is professional.and the training for fighters is very diffrent by the training of bodybuilders.so dont be sad:)
you are right except that you must be using 85-90% 1RM, i am a strength coach and lifting heavy for 1-3 reps is the best way of creating explosiveness my friend without any additional weight, so perfect for kickboxers.
well done now how many professional fights have you had? how many have you won? how many title do you have? whats that? none, none and oh yeah none. this guy is awesome and more than likely knows a little bit more about training/fighting than a keyboard warrior
@PerNyk powerlifting makes you even slower colonel derpenstein. what do you think powerlifting is about? POWER. not speed, not smart muscle, not flexibility, or explosiveness: just raw power. is that what you want in a fighter? a powerlifting fighter is like tank abbot or pudzianowski, big and slow.
@videomike219 this is because classic 10 reps bodybuilding training is shitty for fighters... makes you slow and messes your technique. You need to train more like powerlifting. Bench, dips, dead lift and add some shadowboxing and stretiching between series.
@fermierul21 this is just a small part of his strength training and for camera's he hasso many other trainers , this is nothing .. the boys a machine and trains just as hard if not harder than badr and overeem , go watch some othr videos
it's not heavy squats and deadlifts that make you slow. it's how you squat and deadlift that would make you slower. powerlifting, when compared to olympic lifting, will make you more slow. look at the movements that comprise the different sports and look at the athletes at their peak. olympic lifters are lean and explosive while powerlifters are more thick, slow-moving powerhouses.
I think he meant just a joke with this vid he should train harder than that for sure :) he looks like who is having rest before the fight but move himself a bit ..
@MrSisterfister100 People who shout and add comments like this are the ones who don;t know what they are talking about. Read the comment : @Freshdealy57 made..
Why is the 125kg dude with a 200kg disrespecting a professional kick boxer? The man doesn't need the kind of strength yielded from slow plodding max reps, he trains for explosiveness, he probably had done bag work for hours before this anyway...and if you're going to brag about lifts, make sure you dude lift more then twice your body weight 200 at 125 is pretty shit if you're championing your strength
his training is not pure muscle building its alot muscle cardio i think more then power training. ppl here that piss his training of are wrong. honestly which body builder can beat tyrone? NO ONE. tyrone will beat the shit out every body builder in the ring.
they're putting him to much in front of camera's instead of focussing on the real deal.what i see here is all just for show. i hope it is cause if this is his training now he has no chance for world tittle.
@frankmartin44: TRUTH! All the insecure clowns trying to build more show muscle but NO time training Muay Thai or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, muscle heads are a joke (and this is coming from someone who is NFL size).
@videomike219 100% right. This is just incoherent rubbish. If tyrone has explosive/power, it has nothing to do with this training and more so to do with his natural abilities and development in kickboxing over the years. This guy is robbing him blind. He's fucking wearing jeans to train his client for gods sake!
Seems to be a lot of trainer hating going on... so on another topic, is it just me or is there alot of Alpha male sizing up in that gym? Those dudes should lay off the training for a while, all that testosterone is affecting their egos... Tyrone would murder all of them!
