Hey so @ 1:48, Underoath did a livestream where they explain, this was an idea they had for a song before Aaron left the band, and they eventually ended up using it as the outro of “Who Will Guard the Guardians?”. Crazy how the mystery is answered now haha
So envious of these guys. How awesome must it be to travel the world doing what you love, with your best friends as bandmates to boot. And they're all amazing people. They deserve it. Everything, the fame, even just being in the band itself. If I had to pick one word, it would be "Inspirational".
Man that was so amazing to see the size of that circle pit and when the crowd was pumping their fists in the air, these guys are so amazing live and they only get better everytime i see them
@@Mariooo57 OK well several of the drum parts are definitely from aaron. it's his exacty style of playing and is in drastic contrast to daniel's style. on top of that, on their twitch stream aaron mentioned he wrote for the record and worked on it for a little while before leaving.
@@111whitepony111 Oh I know, I got back to this video while watching the stream. It seems like his contributions were limited to a few parts here and there. It doesn't help that most of them struggled to remember how the songs originated lol
for those of you wondering what the song is before desperate times, it was the outro to "Everyone Looks So Good From Here" before it became the last half of "Who Will Guard the Guardians".
These dudes saved my life. I dunno, they've been a huge part of my life for ten years, and I'm only twenty. They've been my rock when life gets shitty, and I wouldn't be here without them. Seeing them on their farewell tour in New York was the best day of my life, and it probably always will be.
In the special edition DVD for disambiguation, they said that nearly all the demos were laid out and recorded (demos) before Aaron had left. They also tweeted a little bit before Aaron left that they had finished the record. Now I know that many things changed in the studio but all the MUSIC for the songs was laid out before Daniel came in. UO writes the music before any vocals are added. Obviously Daniel "re-did" the drum parts but Aaron is probably familiar with most songs off of Disambiguati
love the angle of the camera it gets the whole crowd and the drummer who never gets attention haha oh and i love how aaron can just WORK the drums and sing at the same time, hes so amazing
The part before Desperate Times is an extended outro to "Everyone Looks So Good From Here" The audio you hear is a recording off the mixing desk from the day before the show the video was recorded. The reason its in synch is because they play to a click because they have a pro-tools rig on stage. So the songs are played the same speed all the time.
the intro song is who will guard the guardians. they've been playing that jam for over a year now live only so its badass that they finally put it in the album.
the song is a gateway kinda thing they do it all the time now at shows. they do it to lead to other songs and created epic scenes and feel for there shows. it never fails. i've seen them several time and they do that one and a few more. i have a hunch that when they record the next cd that might just be in there
@robertneville777 It is that part :) I was so glad to hear that it made it's way into a song! I remember when they first started creating it...it was a couple years ago, and I was lucky enough to watch it evolve into an actual song! Aaron obviously played a part in the new album, because bands don't usually quit touring and then JUST begin writing...they write while they're on tour, all the time. So many drum parts carry over
You are correct. It's from the same set but the day before. For all intensive purposes it serves its purpose. There are slight variations in the performance but it is indeed Underoath live. Just one day prior.
@jonasharris07 Apparently they wrote "Who Will Guard the Guardians" sooner than we (or I) thought they did. They played this song in another one of their live performances too but I think it might've been the same tour.
@Ocelot911 actually there's many points in the video where the drums in the audio dont match what we see aaron playing, especially the cymbals. good example is at 5:16. he hits the crash in the video but we dont hear a crash.
i heard it was a song underoath was working on.its not on any of there albums.but theyre going into the studio at the end of next summer so it could be on theyre new album next year
yeah i know about the intro for 'everyone looks so good..' but they also posted this vid on facebook and they said 'watch out for a new song at the beginning'
I couldn't come and see you guys =[ I lost heart in it all. But that was great, just like the previous times I've seen you all. I'M SORRY YOU HAD TO SEE ME CRY FOR THE MELBOURNE SHOW IN BILLBOARD LAST YEAR AARON XD
Also, theres no ways you would get audio quality like that from a camera mic. And secondly UO dont play with any monitors on stage cause they all use in-ear monitoring so all you would hear would be the raw drum sound and faint guitar from the stacks which are facing the crowd in front.
@ksawaia i'm guessing they have different audio since the camera is filming really close, so the original audio is probably shaky, blurred, and fuzzy. They probably did it so people would have a good idea what it would sound in front of the stage because you can't get as good of a sound backstage on account of the sound systems, amps, PAs re facing forward. You will get a semi nice sound, but not the full effect.
yep. Chris said they were working on the beginnings of new stuff.. Working on writing and working on riffs and all that jazz.. So, probably mid next year, like you said.. :)
this is an awesome view! 5:04 they put a mic on one of the toms and 5:21-5:22 in the audio he hits the cymbal but in the video he hits the tom lol...still cool though :) UØ rocks
@DHDrumming They most likely got the audio of this recording from the sound system, and then just over dubbed it. Like what you do when you make a dvd. only it was just one cam.
@xAsiLayDying17x Yeah, I agree. It sounds like part of the song "Who Will Guard The Guardians" off of Ø (Disambiguation) which Aaron is not on. So maybe Aaron did play a small part in creating their new album?
I'm sure you're referring to the mic on the camera. It actually sounds fine but all you hear is the drums. The recording if from the show the day before this one. I recorded it at FOH during their set while I was mixing them. And then synced it together in iMovie when I edited the video.
@drummerdood11 the funny thing is that this breakdown part is on their new CD.. and it sounds no where NEAR as intense as this.. and it's because of the drums
yeah i play drums and do the backups in my band, guess im just used to it from singing along to covers whilst playing them. I love both their drumming tbo, i do find daniels style more appealing however.
i know where you're getting that impression from, but i was there...and this was like the 4th song they played. and in this video, they only show half of it
Aaron G was the very backbone of Underoath's image and sound, without him, it's not the same band... Just my opinion... I miss him in UO, but times change...
@hotwheelz20072 you're probably right, but at 1:59 he hits the cymbal and it didn't make its sound, soo i'm just guessing it was from some other live show from the sound system since it sounds pretty good.
They never flat out said none of Aaron's material was implemented into "disambiguation". When a band is forced to record a new record every two years, they're left with no choice but to write new material while on the road. The even said in the tooth and nail podcast that this was just a jam that had and they didnt know what to do with it until davison came and they were in the studio. They almost tossed the whole thing but thank god they didnt. Who will guard the guardians is my favorite track
has anyone noticed that the live audio isnt from the live footage? they play to a click live so its almost impossible to notice but you can tell at 4:03 when aaron goes to hit the hihat and snare, its the snare and floor tom youre hearing. or at 1:58, aaron hits his crash farthest to the left and you hear just floor toms. good video though.
Ahh, I see.... I don't really keep up with them on Facebook or Myspace or anything. The song itself doesn't sound whole to me and that's just way I was convinced that it was just some sort of intro lol. So, your page says you're from Australia? That's awesome... What time is it there?
@campadonico954 NO, from that kit only the snare and the cymbals are his. It's australia, they couldn't flight a lot of things there. The kit belongs to some dude. Apparently he is the only one with truth drums in all australia!
Look at the right crash, and 14" floor tom when Aaron walks on stage... then check it out when it cuts to the concert... They've changed te setup a bit. Did they have a tech fail at this gig and change it in between songs?
Well all the more power to you lol, I'm still trying to get the hang of singing and drumming. Personally, I prefer Aaron's style just because it sounds better to me, but I really respect Daniel's technicality. I think Aaron was a lot of fun to watch live, as well.
