Expected the ioniq to win. But again why do none of you guys turn all regen off on ev6 gt and stick maximum power on. It makes a difference. Ev6 GT can get 3.2 seconds 0-60 with multiple examples of this.
Finally a comparison between the EV6 GT and the Ioniq 5 N. The I5N definitely should win, but it was still fairly close. I'm still very happy with my EV6 GT. I like the looks more. It does have some features the I5N doesn't have in the USA like the HUD. And it's been out for 2 years, which means you can get one for a significantly lower price. The EV6 GT refresh is coming later this year too, so it will be interesting to see how the I5N stacks up to that one.
In Germany I can find a gt for 47k vs 65k for i5n so yeah it's a bonkers deal. Deal-breaker for me is losing the ventilated seats and not having adaptive dampers (I think?). Also here we have HUD and pano roof on the i5n so very little drawback aside from price. When it comes down to 55k ish it'll be an insane deal.
@@AdrienPierret The EV6 GT has adaptive dampers. You can adjust it in the settings too. For the ventilated seats, I came from an EV6 Wind and honestly I don't miss them. The alcantara in the EV6 GT doesn't really get hot. It's been 95-105 degrees where I live for the last month and the seats haven't felt hot at all. I've been pleasantly surprised. But yeah, for the price the EV6 GT is hard to beat.
Still love our EV6 GT to bits, but the 5N party piece is the reason I would switch over which is the engagement factor of the simulated shifting. It’s the reason I also have a modified MK2 Focus ST with the 5 cylinder Volvo engine and manual gearbox. Can’t beat the driver engagement I get in that.
When is someone finally going to do a drag racing video on the new Mach e gt it’s funny when it had the 5 second power limit everyone wanted to race it a against a “real mustang “ but now that it might be faster no one wants to race it
For a better assessment of the true strength of I5N, you guys should take it to the track - it's an EV designed for peak track performance - that's where you'll really see it shine. Stock I5N can do 2 laps of Nurburgring sub-9-10 min without brake or engine overheating and zero powerloss. For comparison, Model 3 P on Nurburgring started to lose braking and significant loss of power (throttled down due to battery pack overheating) after 4-5 minutes (see Misha Charoudin's two videos - night and day difference in the track between the two)
The M3P they took to the track was the Euro version which is using the inferior LG battery packs. The American version uses the Panasonic battery back that delivers more power and better cooling performance. His brakes going out must have been because they were already cooked or didn't have regen on in track mode, not sure. Either way, I haven't seen an American M3P on the Nurburgring so I'll hold my judgement until then.
The Ioniq 5 reminds me of the 80s and early 90s. In the movies, there was a style of Futuristic design that was used in Hollywood. This car looks exactly like a Future Car, and I dig the style. Dunno if I could ever consider paying that much money for a small electric hatch, but kinda cool as a novelty.
Exactly the race I am looking for. Well, I got the EV6 GT and I do think about getting the 5N. But after seeing this, I think EV6 is fast enough. I can hold on until the next generation. Thank you for doing this race.
The remodeled 2025 EV6 will come with a larger battery; the same one found in the 5N. You might want to hold off on the 5N until we see if there's an improvement in the new EV6 GT's performance. I'm personally holding out for the 2025 EV6 GT as I strongly feel if will out perform the 5N in both handling and acceleration.
@@Lexusupra You deemed the purchase price (MSRP, or more?) acceptable at the time, right? What changed? Is paying full price for an I5N acceptable now? Barely used GTs with warranty are selling for ~$40k, which is closer to 35% depreciation. 20% for the first year and 15% for the next few years is typical for vehicles, so it's reasonable to expect the same to be true of the I5N as well. No money is "lost" unless trading for incremental change, which tends to be a poor value proposition. Paying MSRP for a GT, selling it at a significant loss to pay MSRP for an I5N, selling that at a significant loss to pay MSRP for whatever is next, etc. seems to meet the definition of insanity (for those with limited disposable income, anyway) but certainly creates opportunities for those who are a little more patient. Regardless, enjoy your GT, which is no less awesome than the day you drove it off the lot!
It’s not surprising that the Hyundai won. It was developed after the Kia. They were able to benchmark the EV6 GT and improve upon the performance of the Ionic 5N.
I like 5N features, but I would go for the EV6 though, its a more mature futuristic look.. a sleeper "family SUV"... ioniq5N just screams challenge me on the road.. definitely more enthusiast crowd.
👀 just what i was searching for... 🎉 thanks... Was so curious though still a EV6gt fan. The slightly restyled EV6 is good looking too. Both are great vehicles.

People say Ev's are fast but boring and can't brake or handle well. 1 year and 20K miles and it still doesn't get old for me. Am I taking off from every light in my EV6GT like when I first got it, no, but when I want to get somewhere quickly I can. I want the Ioniq 5N but I would have to trade my Kona N and I still love the little ICE just hate putting gas in it every week and changing the oil. Waiting for a better deal on the 5N but with all the great press they will eventually sell out the first run. Most dealers only got 1. I hope Hyundai keeps making them.
6:59 I hope you simply scripted that "boosting" moment because it doesn't make any sense waiting for so long to activate the NGB button and actually press it when is the least effective. You should have used it at the start of the drag race, and after turning on the hairpin for maximum effect, not just at the end of the race. In launch control mode it doesn't do anything but after the hairpin it should.
@miguelcontreras9349 in an u drag race unless the model3 driver doesn't know what theyre doing, the tesla should win. And if we're being real, on shorter tracks like autocross, the m3p probably will put down a faster laptime. Longer tracks though, the 5N would take it
Yes you right, you can drive Nurburgring whit the ioniq 2 laps whitout any problem, the Tesla model 3 performance 2024 can only do half a lap then the brakes is on fire and the battery is overheating after 70% of the lap @@sungbaek3526
I wouldn’t call a car “performance” when it cuts power and completely loses brakes after not even a 1/3 of a lap at the Nurburgring. The Model3 is still a one trick pony.
These cars aren't even close in performance. The i5N is way faster around a track and overall a way better car. If you want a grocery getter the ev6 is a decent choice but the N is in a different league
@@jstrout626 Actually, they ARE close in performance, which is unsurprising considering they share the same platform. HMG wisely covered all the bases by optimizing the I5N for track performance, the GT for road performance, and the GV60 for luxury. Looks are subjective but align with those goals as well. Which car is "better" overall depends on the owner's objectives and preferences. The GT undeniably is a decent "grocery getter" compared to most of the vehicles on their list (league?) while still being ranked an impressive #16! HMG is knocking it out of the park.
Ioniq is way more performance based. The cooling system is top notch. It's the only ev that can do 2 laps around the nurburging without a forced thermal cool down/reduced power.
The EV6 is a sharp looking car. Almost as sharp as my Widebody Challenger Scatpack which I bought because I couldnt find a Kia dealer who didnt have their heads up their.......
Please test the new 2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance but don’t put it in track mode or it will kill the power. Navigate to a Supercharger about 7-10 minutes before the run and it will go as fast as 10.75 @ 126+ mph for the 1/4 mile.
You need to do these tests all in the most performant modes the cars have, quit dumbing the suspension down for your comfort, i want raw maximum perf mode numbers from both.
@@afrikengunnerit’s use is limited. Being that you don’t have to brake again after turning around on the course, I’d say that engaging the boost is best done after coming out of the turn on the back straight.
@@Cgee3 I am fully aware of its use and how long it takes to reset, brakes at full regen and car set to n sprint and not track will give u Max power and wipe 2sec off that time
weird saying the ev6 is a sleeper when it looks like something out of blade runner lol. I personally don't like the look at all. Love the ioniq 5n though. I think it looks amazing and retro.
I guess is because in launch control mode it gives maximum power anyway but they should have used it specially after the hairpin corner, not almost at the finish line 🤦🤦
@@yonnymestampo8389 because it requires a 10 sec recovery after using it, and that’s what happened after the LC. The 10 sec have started right after the 1/4 mile.

Surprised that the EV6 is being described as "the sleeper" styling wise. I find it ungainly at best. Also, it's kind of a huge car with a cramped cargo area.
