Kia EV6 GT vs Genesis GV60 Performance vs Ford Mach-E GT vs BMW X4M Competition. Drag and Roll Race Join this channel to get access to perks: / @samcarlegion
Omg I love this video! And I called it. People are sleeping on KIAs but people are finding out real quick that the KIAs of yesterday are NOT the KIAs of today. I bought a GT-Line last year and that thing is fast so I cant imagine how the GT feels. Great channel! I love your content. It gets better each time. Thank you!
What are you talking about? No one is sleeping on Kia. They've had quick cars since the Stinger came out. Their top trim have always been pretty impressive with performance and features. It's just build quality and interior materials that are still on the cheap side. Now that they're pricing their vehicles higher, they're not really affordable like they used to be either.
Wow! That Kia is quick. Those numbers are even better than the magazines have tested. That is pretty incredible. The factory wheels and tires are ridiculously heavy. Just switching to smaller and lighter wheels might get the EV6 close to 10s. If you pulled the seats out too it would definitely be in the 10s.
There’s a reason the wheels are heavy: The car weighs 2.2 tonnes. I’d be VERY careful switching out for lighter rims. It could very easily end in (expensive) tears.
@@LearningFast Absolutely, but they’ll be expensive AF. Budget rims would buckle as soon as they were driven hard or hit a pothole. You’d have to really want those few extra tenths to shell out for them.
@@LearningFast oh yeah, they’re mental. But then again, any genuine wheels for any car are ridiculously overpriced to buy as a spare part. It’s criminal.
Yea! Considering they are one of the youngest car brand in America, it's crazy. They have made crazy strides over the years. Hiring the right people helped a lot!!!
@@BWTECH0521 I couldn't agree more! I bet it was very costly to scout some really big names in the car industry, like Peter Schreyer and Albert Bierman, but those were probably the best moves Hyundai/Genesis/Kia has ever made. Very smart moves on them and totally worth every penny they've spent! 👍
I knew the EV6 GT was gonna win between the EVs, but not by destroying its sister in the process and to dust the X4M Comp like that was unexpected. Man did the BMW sound good losing. Great video one of the best so far.
Those times for the Kia are incredible. At the beginning of the race, The Kia showed 68% charge. They’re not supposed to have peak performance below 70%. Either that’s wrong, or it would be even faster with a full charge. I don’t believe that Unbridled Extend for the Mach E gives the most power, I think it should be just Unbridled.
The drop off in performance was felt dramatically after 50% lost to a modified and tuned Stinger in a friendly non recorded drag race, but in fairness, the EV6 was super throttled back due to dwindling battery life. Got home no problem, though, with 30% left in the "tank"
@@jimwallace4164 I am curious did you do those races in GT more or MyDrive mode? Video shows you switching to MyDrive. the GT mode should be a touch faster as it backs off the nannies and will let car get full power and even slip the tires versus the nannies reducing power output to maintain traction in MY Drive mode.
@LRE I just remember pushing the green GT button and letting her rip. It's a press car, and first time dragging it so I personally was not fully up to speed on all of the possibilities of the drive modes. Given another chance I'd spend more time figuring out how to get the most out of it!
@@jimwallace4164 fair enough! Just think it might have had a bit more, but 3.1 0-60. Welcome the EV6GT fan club. Had early access to one in Nov, then got mine in Dec and love it. They handle pretty darn well in corners to, specially for their weight.
It's hard for me to choose between the EV 6 and the GV60, but even though the EV 6 is faster, since I don't drag race, I think the looks and luxry of the GV60 wins.
@@PERZN4LIFE tf you need to tune EV6 for, it's already making more power than anyone could ask for, plus it cost way less than BMW which also has $7K competition , you can only go that fast on the track which most people who buy it won't ever do, they'll just be stuck in the traffic most of the time. Yeah you can tune BMW but you'll have to pay even more to tune it. Plus kia gives you 100K miles warranty and since it's electric and not regural engine it'll be more reliable
Have seen no difference between 50% and 80% SoC. And it can several times one after another while others then reduce power. Had been on French Anneau du Rhin as drag races are boring to me and tracks with many curves more demanding for car and driver. A comparable Alfa-Romeo Stelvio Quadrofoglio verde with 510 Ferrari-PS and 600 Nm had no chance already against the EV6 AWD with ‚only‘ measured 333 PS and 608 Nm. The Kia by the way was made up by former leader of M-Sports at BMW Albert Biermann who seemingly knows how to make fast cars not only for race tracks or drag races. But there is the next level from the Koreans coming already with even more power than the EV6 GT the Ioniq 5N which was fully tested to race on Nürburgring and is the fastest hatch at the moment. Even for better handling and race drivers safety they electronically imitate an 8 gears double clutch gearbox to get breaking points right which is not easy with no engine sound and horse power in abundance! Hope you also get a chance to compare. In the meantime I am very happy with my ordinary EV6 AWD and the 19“ wheels only that probably do not fit to the GT because of the larger brake discs.
the mach e is actually not too bad to 60, still in the 3.6 sec range but after that, it fades on the topend really badly and gets left for dust....its not that its a slow car, rather, the kia is just insanely fast
They actually tested it in the exact wrong mode for this. Total amateurs. Unbridled extend mode makes it far worse than it normally would have done. It would have still lost in the end but bro where near this bad
EV 6 GT’s gonna smoke ‘em all was expected! I already knew it. But If I was in market, I’d take the beemer regardless, it just sounds awesome! For now, I’d stick with my Stinger GT
Finally a kia that can beat a bmw from a dig and a role 😃. I wish you would bring a model Y preformence just so all the tesla fanboys will be humiliated 🤭.
Tesla is a car given its status from the hyperbole of Elon Musk. It may have 0-60 but as a car with luxury prices 🤮. It gives 20% less in actual distance on its battery and quality of its manufacturing looks like cars made in China in 1970s.
Engage is actually the fastest off the lone. Unbridled is more aggressive on suspension and steering, but engage gets a boost on takeoff per the engineers at Ford.
Kia and Hyundai nowadays are building really good cars. They look great, they're fast and their warranties are crazy which is a testament of their build quality. Koreans man they're on point.
Question what tires you have on the ev6 Gt. in the states we have good year tires and they are ok I am switching to Michelin pilot sport 4s. My stinger I had came with those and they hook up nice
You should have tried the Kia in just sport mode with about 429 HP and see how it did against the others just for fun. Now I would like to compare their times around a really fast track.
The EV6 GT is Wicked Fast! I truly want one (not the GT, I'm afraid I can't actually handle it nor I will actually use all that power... don't need that kind of raw performance) but a Long Range 4WD
I notice at the start you confirm the GV60 was driven in Sports Mode with the Boost button activated which can be seen when instrument dash is in shot. Wow the Kia EV6 GT is quick. Hagerty had the GV60 Performance at 12.3 secs so your 12.1secs is consistent with that. Really interesting to watch.
No it wouldn’t-the EV6 GT got pretty much the same 0-60 Kia claims and definitely what most online publishers have posted. The power dropped significantly after 50% - above that, the car was driving perfectly fine, we tested.
@Sam CarLegion it would not make a difference in the 0-60 but probably a little difference in the quarter mile. The full power is only available when soc is above 70% and battery are preheated. But you're right, the big drop happens below 50% battery
It still won and the quarter mile we got is the same as most. Here’s why the engineers have said no power under 70%: to save the battery from damages. Nothing to do with power, zero. They just don’t want to pay for any cost associated during the warranty. We tested them, they are clearly lying to people.
The Genesis having only around 25% charge will probably have hampered its performance, it starts to drop off as the charge gets very low. Also did you do the extra battery conditioning setup in the EV6 it’s additional to selecting GT mode. It not it could go even faster!
I'm really surprised that Kia actually beat the Genesis, even though it's the same specs. It was alot closer with BMW, atleast it was able to keep up with KIA. Good Race SAM.
@@JT-fq2bl The Kia GT is actually the sportiest of Hyundai Groups cars. But the coming Ioniq 5N might have the same power. It was hardly tested on the race track Nürburgring to get final sharpness on curvy roads that are more important than quarter mile races that make no sense over here. I live in the Swiss alps and my EV6 AWD has no problem with 510 PS Alfa-Romeo Stelvio and delivers in fact more torque (608 Nm) and more horsepower (333 PS instead of official 325 PS) and the 77,4 kWh are net. The battery has 87 kWh brut. So you get already in the base AWD more than you expected. Even charging goes up to 248 kWh. What about Mach-e? The GV60 Sport Plus has less power than the GT but the same platform.
I sold my 2020 Kia Telluride in order get out of its high interest this was back in 2022 got it in 2019. I loved that Kia and somewhat became a bit of a fanboy and was heart broken when we sold it for a compass after we had purchased a house. Recently sold the compass for a Mach E which prior to seeing this thought it was second to Tesla. I must say Kia is a very fast growing and INCREDIBLE company!
Oh wow, EV"s vs BMW.... Now this would be an interesting race... Let the war between EV's and internal combustion start... I'm betting on Genesis to take the EV race and X4M to take the Genesis... It would be interesting Race...
Can you test the awd long range versions( non gt, non “performance “)of these cars? Thats the models people are more likely to buy. Not many people buying a 200 mile ( on a good day) electric performance vehicle.
I wonder why the other 2 cousins don’t get that spec (GV60 and Iconiq 5). Probably reserved for an N line update and that output would put an Iconiq 6 on the 10’s easily.
Cuz hyundai has an n division. Ioniq 5 is getting an N model soon. As for genesis, I think they just waiting before their tech is bulletproof before introducing it to their luxury brand.
Yes the Coreans are moderate in their official information. My EV6 AWD should have 325 PS and 600 Nm of torque. We tested 333 PS and 608 Nm. The battery is given 77,4 kWh but net, effectively the capacity is 87 kWh. So the test is no surprise. Should have tested against Lamborghini, Porsche, Ferrari or other serious competition😂
You guys are launching the Mustang Mach-e GT wrong, fastest way to launch is in engage mode, the unbridled extended mode is for long range track laps, please try it again
This is the first video racing the ev6 gt against the mach-e gtpe, thank you! As others have said, unbridled extend is not the fastest mode for ford, but it doesnt really matter. Ford has blown it. They are stuck with underpar hardware and can't make the gt faster. Kia has definitely hit a homerun here.
Sam great vid. The Mach E would not have won, but it should not have been in unbridled extend. That is meant for track, and sustain prolonged more consistent power delivery. It would not deliver the same peak power. Like I said it would not have won, but in just unbridled it would have been decent off the line for the first 5 seconds until Ford cuts power for battery preservation.
I have a model 3 performance but I can't call these cars fast if I want a fast car I drive my v6 turbo mr2. The EV6 is a cool looking car wish they did a solid light bar at the back.
Unbridled Mode is not meant for drag racing, it’s meant to keep power going for longer on a track. Normal Unbridled is best for drag. Bummer to see that it didn’t get a fair shot.
No I wouldn’t. Because I know that the other one still only drives home with a Kia a budget car for people who can’t afford a real car. And Iam sitting in an 100+K BMW driving home. That alone is enough for me. I don’t want other people to think that Iam broke, so Iam happy with the BMW.
Especially on the EV6 GT? Wrong. GT MODE is available all the way until the car hits turtle mode on dead battery. Max Perf battery heating stops @ 70%, that said, max power mode does not add that much extra power/speed, it just ensures you get all possible. Stock for stock the X4M and EV6 GT are dead even. How would you explain that race?
I was expecting the KIA to destroy that bmw sinse it has more power and its an electric, but the BMW didn't disappoint me at all it did better than i expected cos that Kia is quick.
But remember the Kia is way faster wen the battery is at 100 percent it was at less than 70 percent wen it raced the bmw and still won by a full car length or more think about that
