could you please do a video on how tough it is to get into a core medical training, how tough are the exams, the competition ratio and how long did you take to prepare for the same? also, why did you decide on Psychiatry as a specialty, maybe the pros and the cons? thanks! :)
Helloo monisha !! Ur latest subscriber here ! I juz got to know Ur channel and I was looking exactly for something like urs. U have great content and do please make a video on day in life or ua house tour and u know shopping as such (sry I get very curious abt London cause I also am a budding doctor preparing for plab) thank u .. love ya..♥️♥️♥️
Love your videos Monisha! Really appreciate it. :) 1 quick question: As an Indian MD (Gyne) with 8 yrs of post MD experience, I've recently completed my MRCOG. Which Grade do you think should I apply for in UK? Thanks :)
Very informative videos dr. Requesting you to kindly make a video or share link if any specially for Indian doctors after clearing MRCS how to go for locum jobs and salary.thanks in advance
Hi, dear can you help me to tell my pathway...I finished my MBBS in 2006 after I finished my 1 year internship I worked so many hospitals in India as junior resident but in 2015 I came to Kuwait and start my career here... I have GP license but From last 5 years I’m working in dermatology... I’m confused and tense bcoz now I’m planning to move Uk but I don’t know how to start and from where😢 please suggest me which training or pathway Better for me🙏
Can you create a video on indian doctor? Like consultant , associate consutant director...in order...so that it becomes easy to understand...who is superior to whom.
This was really informative! Just a little confused, did you give your plab & then get into FY2 followed bt CT 1 since you had already done 1yr compulsory internship in India?
Thanks dr Monisha for all your help.. I'm an IMG(33 yrs) with 5 years training in dermatology outside UK Can u plaese tell me what are the chances to get a job in UK And what level can i apply for ..!!? Thanks in advance dr Monisha
Mimo. To work as a consultant in UK you need to be in the specialist register. However you can try getting junior level jobs in dermatology in the non training route.
Hello mam i am Indian and i have done my mbbs from Ukraine and not willing to go back to India for internship what it would cost me for FY1 training in uk🇬🇧
You need to get your alternate foundation competencies form aka CREST form signed with evidence provided for the same (all the check boxes that are ticked). You also are expected to have worked for 365 days post you completing your rotatory internship in your home country to show you did something equivalent to FY2 here. I hope this helps. 😃
Really informative..thanks for sharing . However, cud u plz explain a little more about 1. At what level and in what branche a md pathologist with 6 yrs experience is going to be regarded as overqualified? 2. Can a consultant doctor in india, apply strtaway into ct-1 level, ? 3. Is doing a nonclinical job even after GMC registration a must, in order to bag a clinical job ?
Doctor J. 1. This assumes that you are going to change your stream from pathology. In that case you are just starting afresh in your new specialty. You will not be offered reduced traning due to your prior training. 2. CT1 is the first step of higher training. You will not be able to skip FY2 is thats what you mean. 3. If you want to get a job and not go in training , it is entirely up to you.
doc. Thank u for such informative videos I have completed the royal college exams and waiting for my GMC. Most people have advised me to start with a non-training jobs rather than applying for ST3 directly. But i feel it would just delay the process of getting a cct. Can u plz tell me what r the risks involved and if it is at all advisable to start as ST3 in the UK if someone gets the chance? Is it even manageable? Any private academy or anything that could give induction for the same if required or is their shadowing first before starting as a st3?
First of all a very informative Video i have a question i did my mbbs from Pakistan and currently doing house job (compulsory 1 year internship) should i do m. S first or apply To Plab. Eagerly Waiting for a reply 😊
I attempted two times to clear MRCOG . I'm 20 yrs post my Speciality in OG, n I'm very truthful in saying this... MRCOG part 1 is so bookish and statistically oriented exams. For someone who subspecialises in Laparoscopic Surgery and ObsGyn imaging, I can't study hours to keep track of statistics about pathologies, which the Part 1 exams are all about . Not that I'm keen to join UK med forces, but I love earning degrees and fellowships. Sadly, MRCOG still eludes me. Let me know, how best i prepare to sit again for that exam. Btw, you look gorgeous!
Hi manisha, i have recently cleared my plab2 and about to search for Non-training FY2 jobs. I have 10yrs experience in india. What job titles should i search for in NHS jobs ?
I have a question that...if i complete CT3 and moved to India.....then which post is equivalent to CT3 in India ?....i mean is it equivalent to PG in India ??
I would appreciate if you answer my question that is it absolutely necessary to get a license in your native country before applying for GMC registration? *Yes I'm desperate*
What should I do if I want to get into surgical training? As in, when you said you did non training FY2 post and after 6 months you applied for a job. So exactly during that timeline..what should a surgical training aspirant do?
Hlo man..... Hope u r safe and sound during this pandemic . Is psychiatry a run thru training or uncoupled? Which royal college exam do you hv to appear for? And how competitive is it to get into IMT ? Do we need to appear for Msra exam for IMT ?And I AM from Odisha too...
Hello.. I am about to complete my DM in cardiology in India in august.. So after clearing PLAB if will be applying for speciality registrar in UK via NHS.. ?? After PLAB we apply for job via NHS in our desired specialty?? M I getting it right??
Got a lot of help and understanding from this video.. I have few questions... If we clear MRCP1/2/PACES exam...we will be at ST3....do we still need to do MSRA exam and do our core training for 2-3 yrs before going to ST3 LEVEL??
Hieee... mind if I ask u my doubt regarding ct..? After completing your non trainee job ... is it possible to choose any speciality of our choice ... coz I India we write neetpg and depends on the rank list.. like that
After fy2 year in London do we need to give any exam to get into core training or if I want to speciliaze in cardiac surgeon so in which year I give exam of my training
Hello mam ,is it compulsory to do internship from my medical school .am i am eligible to pleb if i don't have any internship certificate.please reply mam
It’s true that some university offering PG MD/MS courses Without plab exam Course duration 2-3 years with tution fees : 20-40L They Call it as sponsored seat like that. if u know about it please elaborate the pathway of it in video or in comment section
Hey. I am quite unsure about this pathway. I haven’t come across someone yet, who has entered UK via this pathway. May be once I have more information about paid PG here I can get back to you on it or make a separate video.
Dr Monisha Mishra Thanks A lot for replay If you get to know About MD/MS in uk without plab (2-5Yr) then let us know i really looking into this just don’t wanna waste 7-10 years to get MD/MS in uk so if there any other way to get it i would love to go for it ✌️
@@drvictor5920 You are right to be cautious. British universities are allowed to charge much higher fees to foreigners, so they have started a lot of diploma and degree courses which are rarely taken by locals and so do not fit into the training pathways for the medical or other professions. The candidates HOPE that the degree will be recognised "back home," even if they count for nothing here, if it comes from a famous institution. I think major private hospitals in India know about the specialist training pathway in the UK, so it's not certain that they will give credit for having one of these degrees alone, WITHOUT a certificate of completion of clinical training.
You need your PMQ(primary medical qualification) to be able to apply for PLAB. And you attain PMQ only after finishing your internship. If that makes any sense.
Hello mam! Do we need to clear all 3 parts of mrcog after completion of pg in india to enter into uk ? And if we clear mrcog we get into ct or st ? Pls help me get the ans
Ma'am if indian medical graduates have completed that one year of paid internship after completing the 4 n half year of undergraduate studies n then apply for plab then after getting in do they have to do the foundation training in uk as well?
Everybody’s experience is different. I didn’t do fountain training in U.K. But, I chose to do a non-training job equivalent to FY2 because I wanted to be confident of working in a new healthcare system, in a new county and be sure of what I was doing before jumping into core training.
Thankyou!😊 it was really helpful.. I would be greatful to you if you made a video on your journey to uk like in depth about plab 2.. where to take coaching in uk about the stay for a month or two in manchester from India.
Hello Dr. , I am a medical graduate MBBS from India, I am working in casualty of a government Hospital in India as a medical officer since 7 years. At what level I can get a job in NHS. Designation? And Basic Pay would be ? And what test is required after GMC registration to get radiology in UK ? Please answer
Hlo sir .First u have to give Plab 1 and Plab 2 to get registered in NHS in uk. After date u can work as JD or Junior doctor . Which starting pay is £40000 pounds or 40 lakh year In rupee. If u wish to earn more than go for super speciality
I did a one year job as a non trainee as a FY2 equivalent. It wasn’t a trainee FY2 position. I then started my Core training in Feb 2020 and moved into CT2 in Feb, 2022. Hope that solves your queries.
Hello ma’am I am a medical graduate from pune I finished my mbbs and internship in 2020 and right now working as a CMO is Dr DY patil, pune I wanted to know what is general practitioner (which is of 3 years in uk) equivalent to in india?
So you really can't equate GP to anything in India coz Indian medical system doesn't have a GP system. So technically from what I know your GP training is kinda equivalent to a General Medicine PG in India, but again MRCP is much closer to Gen. Med at the same time you can't say GP is equal to MBBS ofcourse. So to put it in simple terms I'd say knowledge wise close to Gen. Med, cadre wise unfortunately between Mbbs and Gen. Med. Also, India too has PG course in family medicine but is not the same as GP I guess..
Hello , Monica ma'am !! So i am MBBS student ,currently i'm in 2nd prof and planning to prepare for PLAB !! 1. Can u explain about passport and what are problems one may face in getting one 2. Compared to USMLE and NEET pg ,what is the level of PLAB exam ?? 3. Is it tough manage expense in UK ??(i don't want to stress my parents much after getting job)
Firstly, my name is Monisha and not Monica. To answer your questions.. I have made a separate vlog about USMLE and PLAB. So, you may make your own judgement with regards to it. I am never the kind to make a decision for another person. I don’t know about Indian pg as I gave up half way preparing for it as I thought it was pretty senseless as what we study for the exam is not really useful in the long run. But then hey! That’s my own personal opinion. You decide for yourself. With regards to finances, I have explained it all in the PLAB Vs USMLE vlog. Feel free to watch it. Hope you have a good day!
After being a consultant after 7 years, can we return to india and practice as a consultant here? Any clear idea about that? If u could please explain that it would be really helpful
After the mbbs and internship if we do plab, then is it compulsory we do FY1 and 2 in the UK? or we can apply for ST1 ??? and we have to choose a particular subject only after FY1 and 2 is it so? and what are the chances we get the subject that we choose? and does it cost while doing FY1 and 2 or we get a salary?
Whether you do FY1 and FY2 or not. I would recommend you do a year of non training job before applying for training. Given it’s a completely different system and as a trainee you have a lot other things to do other than just your training job. I can’t put a number on the chances of someone getting a speciality they desire. That’s a very subjective question. You are paid as a doctor whether you are a FY1 or a consultant. Please watch my video on salary scales for doctors. That would be useful. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_JBscUAZedE.html
How do we apply for FY-2 since we only have 1 year of training here during our internship in India, also where does this come in the chronology for applying for PLAB?
