if Ubisoft isn't acknowledging their mistakes, what is stopping them from making those mistakes again in the next ghostrecon?

Unfortunately there's nothing stopping them from making the same mistakes again as they aren't listening. It seems that making AI teammates and enemies intelligent enough to be realistic is beyond them. Auroa is obviously populated by idiots and brain deads and there's all the likelihood that where ever the new game is set the AI, the enemies and NPC's will be just the same.

Alrighty…. Couple things here annnnnd I need you all to bear in mind that I am NOT defending Ubisoft. 1.) That was an incredible video and you’ve earned my sub, for whatever that’s worth. 2.) This will hurt a lot of people’s feels: This issue could’ve been avoided entirely and was caused by fans. 2.5) AI Teammates (AIT) weren’t even going to be in the game initially. Buuuut due to incessant complaining, by us, Ubisoft panic rushed and “bent the knee” only to give us… Whatever form of mental disorder we just witnessed in that video. 3.) As a point of fact… The introduction of AIT was so rushed and jarring that the only thing about their introduction that makes ANY sense IS that they were added SOLELY because the fans demanded it. 3.5) Let me clarify… Breakpoint was designed as a game in which you (Nomad) are deep behind enemy lines with little to no backup. This is in part due to most of your soldiers/supplies being shot down by the enemy upon entry… Who happens to be a former Ghost… 4.) The game was supposed to be about “finding your BREAKPOINT”. While this is a very loose take on the term, saying that AIT were added as an afterthought is a massive understatement. 5.) Personally, I would even go as far as to say that the addition of AIT is what led to the SEVERE LACK in Updates to existing content (PVP), Adding BULLSHIT COPIES of “This week’s SPECIAL WILDLAND’S GUEST STAR: SAM FISHER FROM RAINBOW SIX…”, and finally Adding additional content (Access of the Mystery Island). That’s the end of the points. Again, this wasn’t defending Ubisoft. In fact, I think they OWE US MONEY! ESPECIALLY, those of us who spent the money on the “ubber-doober-dummer edition”…. (Me).

I will say that when you give the regroup or hold position command they will come to your location, but will spread out to the nearest cover. It is hit or miss within indoor structures, unless you give them the GO TO command which will put them in the spot as close as possible (they will still spread out though). Funny thing is that I recently played the GRAW games and it was truly hilarious to see better squad control in those games compared to Wildlands and Breakpoint. Now, Breakpoint was intended to be a solo game without teammates, so they did a copy and paste of the Wildlands AI with a couple of tweaks. What they should have done since GRAW was enhance the squad control because they already had a good foundation in place. Instead, they went backwards and it made no sense, especially for an open world environment. It was as if they decided to put the least amount of effort into the AI squad to focus on other things when squad control is one of the biggest reasons to play a GR game.

@@gbuster8167 if they can't do it right they shouldn't do it. Whatever stress this causes the devs, whether or not they were distracted, etc ... Is not our concern . Ghost Recon has always been about a team. Whether playing solo or with friends. SOCOM did it back in 2001 better than this. Ubi depends on PVP to so gamers can " make their own fun " while they do the bare minimum. This game and most Ubi games since AC1 have used the SAME framework/ structure/ loop for the longest, there were no groundbreaking innovations that went into this Far cry / Grand Theft Commando game. It certainly isn't Ghost Recon. The enemy AI sucks as well, dumb, easy cannon fodder. Game was and is a joke and Ubi wiped their crack with the TC and GR names.

That's exactly why i don't use the squad mates. It was clear that ubisoft didn't really want them in the game after rushing the game out, because they knew the teammate ai wasn't finished either.

I think they wrote the ai so if there's enemies within a certain amount of distance, with the go to certain spot and hold command, they'll individually find their own cover instead of sticking with each other in the same place. And if there's no enough spots to be considered as "cover" they'll keep on moving until find a suitable place to stay. If you're distant away from any hostile objects they will just stay/hold at the spot that player pointed. And if you're not spotted by any hostile present and haven't give any commands, the ai teammates will stay in a invisible state even if they're in enemy's line of sight.

Yea I think that's what ubisoft was TRYING to do, that's why I made sure to include an example where I only have 1 AI teammate active and showcase that it still happens 2:31 It's like the 1 AI teammate doesn't know that his other teammates are deactivated and that they are only turned of visibly and audibly for us, but in code the single AI Teammate still operates like the other teammates are ''fighting'' him for a spot. it feels like ubisoft is trying to hold our hands too much and it actually does NOT work in out favor, the location I sent them is fine, but the location they then try to find is the one that causes me to lose control over them and gets me in trouble, so it seems like the only way prevent this issue is to not use these commands at all or to only use them at a significantly far away distance and play with a long range style.

Man, I've been playing Mildlands with the first person mod, the sync shot doesn't work with the version of the mod that I have, and you know what? I absolutely love it - best Delta Force experience I've had since Delta Force 2. I'm actually forced to use my team, give orders, control them, etc. I just wish "fire" meant "open up from the position I sent you to", not "run around like chickens with their heads cut off, leaving me completely exposed if some asshole flanks me", but shit, at least they follow orders. I also wish there was a "suppressing fire" command, but that'd be too much to expect from a company hell bent on making every one of their franchises as watered down and homogenous as possible.

Aah tell me about man, I remember transitioning from wildlands to breakpoint and I noticed that "open fire" was changed to "cleared hot" so I assumed that they would fire on sight from the position they are at but nope, they only changed the term but not the mechanic, so sadly that issue never got adressed, so you are forced to use "open fire/cleared hot" and "hold" right after they take down the target in GRBP just like in Wildlands, but yea in general they at least listened in Wildlands and they actually feel alive, I do miss wildlands and I fire it back up from time to time, so satisifying when a thought out approach works, I remember in one of the AITEAMMATE trailers of GRBP, the announcer said "we made sure that you DON"T have to micromanage them" I was like noooooo that's actually what we want lol, there is such a disconnect between the Devs and the community, makes me wonder if they dont know their audience or if they are looking for a new audience

@@CinematicTacticsMicromanage is exactly what i want. I would love to give them specific roles and set them at specific places, adjust their behavior in detail, control them fully and completely. I'd also love to pose them precisely for screenshots in photo mode. But the photo mode is pointless when you can't get a picture with your teammates. In Wildlands i would pose my teammates very nicely, it's a bit tedious but it can be done. In Breakpoint however it's impossible. I can't even look at their cosmetics and guns because they always turn away from me.

One of the most basic tactics in a military situation is the ability to order troops to a certain position to create a diversion while you sneak in and either steal something, sabotage something or kidnap or rescue someone. This isn't available in this crap game so it becomes totally unrealistic. Add to that their unending knack for getting between me and a target as I'm about to fire or running past my first person sniper scope as I'm pulling the trigger and turning it into an over the shoulder view. 😡😡😡😡

They have completely given up on this game entirely. I mean if you look at how Wildlands ended, it gave us a glimpse into the next GR title with a mission wear Breakpoint has not (talk about Ubisoft not giving a fuck anymore).

Yeah, I’ve ran into this quite a few times. It’s so annoying and makes the user experience frustrating. One thing I will say, you’re doing the right thing by exposing this publicly. If this type of bug exposure get enough public traction, a fix will be established.

I fear the influence we have on developers. Wildlands was great, just needs reskin. Breakpoint turned out totally different. Especially w/ camera placement. But anyways I disabled teammate my first day playing the game lol. 🇧🇴🎮😎

Great video, thanks for that. I'll be frank: this Future Soldier-like "ethereal" teammates with overpowered sync-shots was never a good idea in first place. It was great in FS because that game was a action shooter. If Ubi wants to revive the good ol' tactical days of yore, they must go back to OGR and GRAW squad gameplay and evolve from there.

I dont know whats worse... the fact they just run around with reckless abandon or when it kicks off they just start throwing grenades around like confetti. I levelled them up then switched them off....permanently.

yea according to ubisoft ''cleared hot'' means run through the camp and find enemies to shoot, maybe even toss a grenade while you are at it.

If there’s one enemy and I’m up close, the ai teammate will throw a grenade at the both of you, no shits given and then you have to restart your mission again 🙄 Can’t be that hard for them to even program in a stack command, and then give you the option to select the type of breach with what item. I’m sure they used to have that option, or maybe that was a really really old Tom Clancy game of some sort.

breakpoint canceled my personal favorite feature in wildlands, which if ai teammates are within distance to engage enemies, they'll individually aim at a target passively just like sync shot but it's separate from it. You can then use the engage command with an immediately follow up hold fire command to achieve the "passive sync shot" that not only can you proceed to do sync shot after that but it also have no cool down, as long as the ai teammates are aiming at a target. In breakpoint, they'll still aiming at targets but once you give them open fire command they can't drop the target they're aiming at instead they start to throwing grenades and go straight into fire fight. And that that's the biggest disappointment I had with BP's ai teammates.

gave it try yesterday after reading your comment, God it was so hard to control them the immediately went ape shit, I then tried it with only one ai teammate active, that definitely felt better but still not the way it should be in 2022, make me think that having one ai teammate in wildlands would be perfect.

In SOCOM 1 single player your teammates would hold fire and stay hidden no matter if you were on the move or holding up. They would call out separate tangos and track them even though they did not call out location or number. Issue a fire at will command and any tango sighted would get hit. The team would make their own shots and QUICK and it made you get faster yourself. Occasionally one would get hit and that was it, they were dead for that mission. If you were creeping prone, they crept with you. If you posted them at an overwatch and set them to engage, they would until you ordered them not to. This was in 2001.

Yeah I think this only happens on older generation consoles or the PC because I'm on the PS5 and they do what I tell them to do at least for me...... Maybe I'm just getting lucky and it's just working for me but at least for me they do what I tell them to do

I’ve been playing on PS5 and had to turn my ai off they were doing this exact thing I had a feeling it was a bug but I guess ITS WORKING AS INTENDED hahaha what a load.

Not only that..they used to remove suppressors when you did..the update before motherland ruined that,and it was never fixed

exactly, that's actually wat transpired this whole thing, I was on the ubisoft forum and I saw a bug post regarding the suppressors issue, they said that they are aware of it and that they are currently looking into that and the overall ai teammate behavior for the upcoming update patch, so that's why I thought great timing for me to raise awareness regarding this issue, but neither actually got tackled in the latest update

Same thing with the all of the characters eyes, they look dull and downgraded compared to how they were at launch. That didn't happen until after they released that very first big patch update and they never bothered to fix them.

Could be because the marker is on the wall and not the ground, so they're running inside to try and get to the part of the marker that was 'inside' the wall - that would explain why 1 stayed out and the other 2 went for a wander. Or maybe they're as bored with Ubi's attitude as we are.

This made it so frustrating to use the camera mode, I wanted to make some bad ass milsim wallpapers, but I CAN'T GET THESE FUCKERS INTO ANY KIND OF MILITARY OR TACTICAL FORMATION! Isn't this supposed to be delta squad? Why is it so hard to stack a four man? Why can't I use breach and clear tactics I'm already familiar with?

I know man, forget about taking screenshots and using the Photo Mode in Breakpoint. In Wildlands i used to pose my teammates into formation and take really nice pictures.

There's 2 dmr glitches: 1 with 2 presets one with dmr in secondary, and the other with dmr in primary. after activating technique, pick up/hold body, switch from preset with secondary to one with primary, the pistols must be the same. (I thought it was fixed but evidently it got broken where it works again.), 2 with preferred dmr duplicate in 1 slot and alternative in another slot. After carrying/holding someone with technique activated, switch from preset with preferred duplicate to preset with alternative duplicate, switch back to previous preset, unpause then repause if in solo, then once more select the same preset. Unless the breakpoint team change their mind and add moa island/2nd kind of raid session, those glitches will stay broken until they eventually shut down the server for good and tell the console app stores to do away with the game app. Not exactly all issues are fixed away.

Wtf.. First of all i can barely understand what you tried to say. Second, what exactly does this glitch do, does it break the game or does it make you invincible or what? And third, that whole process of getting the glitch is so complicated and specific that i don't think anyone would stumble upon it unless you're purposefully doing all that. The odds are 1:10000000000

Yeah it seems like they never get to finish with the Ai programming and need more work, but Ubisoft focus more in the bigger fish issues in the game.

Why is this sort of thing even a surprise anymore Ubisoft has released games that are broken or buggy aside from the early Assassins Creed games and refuse to claim responsibility and deny that their games are huge buggy messes, I'll never buy another Ubisoft game as long as I live and I pray that a lot of other people won't either in hopes that boycotting Ubisofts BS will give them incentive to pull their heads out of their asses and start caring about their player base and how they go about making their games going forward but until this happens Ubisoft will be the same disrespectful and shit company they are today and hopefully will be forgotten

Well at least in Wildlands is working as intended, they will stay in their cover if u told them to hold. TBH I think Ubisoft just forgets this garbage is even existed so they can focus on the next game. Hopefully they will rework the teammates AI in the next game

what I actually think that's happened is that during the period of wildlands people ( including me ) kept asking for induvidual AI control, we said things like ''I dont wanna send all my teammates to one location we need induvidual control'' they couldn't make it happen yet for breakpoint so they thought lets design a system where you send them all to one location while making sure that they dont get bunched up and some what spread out in a small radius where you have sent them but that completely failed and they had no idea how to fix i, causing to be a step back from wildlands instead of a step foward. yea man hopefully they get it toghether on the next one

You know what's crazy, I used to play conflict desert storm on ps2 (I think the game came out around 2002) and that had better a.i team mates lol. You could put the 3 of them in 3 different tactical positions and give them individual commands albeit limited to open fire, hold fire and do as I do. Another cool thing was if your squad was in trouble and you were on the other side of the map you could switch perspectives to take over. Cant believe 20 years later we haven't got a similar experience.

I'm done with any new UbiSoft games. I've actually gone back to the heavily modded versions of the original Ghost Recon and Rainbow 6 Raven Shield. Far superior games in terms of gameplay, just limited graphically.

Playing alone is so depressing, especially if you're a Ghost Recon fan for a long time, every GR game had teammates, that was the whole point of the game that it's different from other single-man army games.

For stealth I use the A.I as a QRF and park them at a good vantage point just outside the compound or inside somewhere on a tall building over looking it. Otherwise they just wonder off and get compromised.

Ubi stopped being good devs/ pubs long ago they have no passion any more or no real knowledge of making games the players want ect all they care about is looking woke enough over doing their jobs properly

They won't admit that they abandoned the game, while knowing that it's still broken or unfinished. But hopefully your report will still be used to improve the AI for the next game.

@@nikolay9746 The fact that they've been working on the next game leaked last year. Project Over has been in development for at least 2 years now. And BTW, Ubi is also releasing a new Splinter Cell, which is supposed to be a reboot of the first game.

@@twentytwo138 Maybe you should do some research before chiming in. The Battle Royale game, Frontlines, was cancelled, and it was being created by Ubisoft Bucharest, who were the studio behind Ghost War. While Ubisoft Paris is the lead studio on mainline game, called Project Over. And while Splinter Cell is a remake, so the core story may be the same, but it's being updated for a modern audience. So it may look and feel completely different.

Wildlands was fun, Breakpoint was just heartbreaking. it is so far removed from the Tom Clancy world and there is little to no substance in breakpoint :/

I actually disagree. Operation Motherland in BP feels more Ghost Recon than Wildlands ever did for me. Regardless, they should rework teammates for next GR title. Go back to OGR or GRAW and evolve from there. This Future Soldier-like "ethereal" teammates with godlike sync-shots was never a good fit for the series in first place.
