Hey everyone, this is an excerpt from my latest video covering Ubisoft's leaked memo. It is solely focused on the part regarding Ubisoft's potential buyout from Tencent, and the reasons why this company deserves their downfall. And why none of us should feel bad for not caring.
I notice quite a few people clicking away from my videos halfway through, so I'm trying something out to see if shorter length videos are more engaging.

Word. Pride comes before the fall. "Becoming comfortably not owning video games" will echo throughout gaming history as they get their company sold under their feet.

"A lot of people worked hard on it"--- why is the livelihood and the horrible business decision the developers and publishers made supposed to be MY guilt and responsibility as a consumer? I don't want to buy what I don't like, regardless of what my personal reasons are---guilting me to buy your game by calling me buzzword names makes me dislike you more and won't support your future products.

It is such a breath of fresh air hearing someone with actual passion for the industry and give their fiery opinion on the subject rather than the typical half-baked docile reaction youtuber giving their most fence sitter response.

The biggest mystery is how did they manage to release so many shitty games every year that didn't sell very well? How did they get their money back? Was it government funded as well? Was it all a money laundering scheme?
@TheDezembro

Ubisoft actually didn't have that much trouble selling their weak games. As "meh" as they were, Assassin's Creed games still managed to sell a lot of units to people who aren't in the know. And hey, even to some in the know, like I said in the full video linked in the top comment, Ubisoft's stuff is kinda like "fast food". They still saw a decent amount of revenue from post-launch sales during stuff like Black Friday, Christmas, Easter & Summer Sales. Think of Fifa, for example. They pretty much sell the same game over and over and over and it's still a huge piggy bank for EA.

Just wait until tencent gets ahold of Ubisoft. You think monetization is bad now? If they get ahold of them, it’s going to get FAR, FAR worse.

I'm one of the few thousand people still playing supercell's boom beach. It's awful. A battle pass, the only way to get an extra builder is a 3 dollar per month subscription, instant troop training is a 10 dollar subscription. Frequent "deals" in the shop to buy resources. Tencent was the worst thing to happen to supercell. China is the worst thing to happen to the world

"I will mourn for once was and could have been" Beautifully said brother. Great video, it made me sad seeing these great moments again, I have a lot of great memories from over the years. I'm going to cherish what we had because companies that were once great like Ubisoft and Bioware are just a shell of their former selves.

Thanks, I appreciate it! Me too, I have a lot of great memories playing Assassin's Creed with friends after school, and having it be this huge cultural influence for people my age back then. It's nuts what they managed to throw away.

Ubisoft is like all Empires throughout history, it has a beginning, a rise, a golden age and then a gradual decline and finally a total collapse. I don’t know if we are at the gradual decline or the collapse but chances are we will find out in the coming months.

Great video, as always. But for future reference, the name Yves is properly pronounced like "Eve." The 's' at the end is silent.

Hadn't enjoyed a Ubi game since Black flag, last one I even bought was Far cry 5 on a sale. It was all so rote and tired and unappealing.

The sad thing is that Beyond Good and Evil 2 they showed off years ago was probably not given the attention, budget, and backing it deserved because of it trying to be something actually creative, different, and challenging. Pretty much EVERYTHING that Ubisoft did not want to be going forward into a live-service driven future. :(
