I sat down with Ubisoft developers to talk about the feedback surrounding Ranked 2.0, as well as a brand new matchmaking system for Rainbow Six Siege you've never heard about. Business inquiries. gge.partnerships@gmail.com
Why does the ranked system need to be complicated? Why can't it just go off of our visible rank? A hidden MMR system has no place in a ranked game mode.
Had that before. Everyone got placements and left. As stated in the video. I personally preferred ranked 1.0 but i like the game more than i dislike ranked 2.0 even if it really sucks
@@pepsusser no I was there for those days people left because it throttled your MMR, once you hit that hidden skill rank You would slowly start losing MMR gain until you were only gaining like 8 to 15 per win, and losing 35 to 50 per loss. That's why players stopped playing once they hit their rank because there was no point.
@@GGE for anyone in this thread that tells me the reason why it needs to be there is for player retention, That's an incredibly flawed belief because we have two other game modes that can have a hidden sbm system, they are very successful with it And in fact they do it's called casual and standard. To be honest with everyone here if they would just remove the visible rank and only show the hidden MMR I feel like a lot more players would be happy; I've said it once and I'll say it again there is no reason for there to be a hidden MMR system in ranked.
@GGE I think the ranked system currently starting in copper isn't fair for actual low ranks. The ranked 1 system wasn't perfect but it was a little better. Hidden mmr shouldn't dictate matches if you're lower rank as your rank should be the thing reflecting that and dictating who you play 100% of the time. I'd honestly prefer a system that doesn't punish you the more games you play and allows a grind to higher ranks. Keep the rp gained fixed at 50 or so per game and have the placement matches back with hidden mmr until the 10 games are played. Should be an over/under rank of previous season like 5 ranks below last seasons rank if you lose all 10 games and 5 ranks above if you win with the mmr from last season placing you against people of your rank last season. It always looks like they're over complicating things when it comes to ranked
I shouldn't be a Silver with the same "hidden" MMR as a emerald/diamond just because I play less per week. If I am playing on that MMR why isn't that my rank?? But you are right, that shit doesn't even matter rn because of the massive amount of cheaters in every game mode
For me who i play on console without crossplay i got the most cheaters in zero's season other then thet now i think it the best time to play because no cheaters and if you have friends you're going to be in for a fun ride 😂
Last season I got diamond for the first time but I don't feel like putting 100+ games just to reach where I left off at last time, just do placement matches like before. Like 2:18 is the reason I cant stand modern match making systems, just make the MMR the same as the rank shiny, the distinction is pointless...
@@GGEpersonally can’t speak on it because I’m on console and play ranked exclusively, but MJ has made the switch to standard because of the cheater issues. Do with that info what you may
@GGE cheaters at this point are everywhere in this game. I was playing quick match and ran into people toggling several times this season to where I've just dropped the game for a bit.
Honestly my biggest problem with ranked 2.0 is the fact you start at copper. Its really hard to climb in the ranks when everyone is plat, diamond, and emerald skill level in my matches. Every match is pitched and a lot of effort is needed to win on both sides. Increasing in rank is just needlessly difficult because of this, especially since it shouldn't be this hard to get out of copper, bronze, and silver
matchmaking only considers hidden mmr, not your visual rank. being in copper doesn't mean your games will be easy wins, they will be a bit easier since your mmr has decayed from last season (I think there is a soft reset but I could be wrong) but once you play ~10-15 games your mmr should be back to normal, so games form then on will be around the same difficulty. visual rank is meaningless until your reach your peak, just ignore it until it beings to stabilize.
it doesn't really work like that. It does not use copper or silver or plat or whatever to matchmake you. It uses your hidden MMR, you real elo rating and rank. Which is not tied to whatever charm you get.
@drjamaymay405 i know which is why this is my problem. My nail biting tough games shouldnt be in copper. And its immensely frustrating to climb in rank when every match is difficult from the very start
@612minigun I think you misunderstood what I meant as you repeated my point. this is why I have problems with it, hidden MMR is the end all be all. So that means you have to fight for every single last bit of rank progress from copper to champion.
I get what you mean man, it feels incredibly dissonant when everyone who is high rank (plat diamond emerald) are in ‘copper’ and ‘bronze’ lobbies. People aren’t upset with ranked 2.0 because it’s harder or whatever, it’s the exact same. But visually, being in sweaty copper lobbies where everyone isn’t where they should be at just feels awful, the constant climb from the bottom every season is tedious and tiring and is very similar in nature to the current cod prestige system, starting over every month sucks. This video doesn’t get that and neither does Ubisoft.
Ubisoft: We need to establish communication with the community The community: Complained and explained why they don't like something Ubisoft: You're a minority The community:
"Our statistics say otherwise", what the ones you cherry pick to justify changes at all? I remember not long after Ranked 2.0 they said "look we have more player retention" but it was such a minimal change they didn't even publish it
Haven’t really touched siege this season off the strength of the dead zone bug still being a thing 20 plus days into the season. Been playing since black ice and never took a hiatus like this. I genuinely think that bug still existing is insane.
Even the "What you can do is leave an angry comment" statement at 13:33 got a good chuckle out of me, then I responded internally with "Hahaha now I'd feel *bad* doing that, because you're not trying to white knight for Siege, you're trying to save it, so we all have a fun experience to return to over and over again. I respect it!"
I mean when it comes to siege there isn't a whole lot to be positive about is there. They essentially add fuck all when it comes to the new season, the cheater problems that they out an emphasis on fixing are still there, and then these slimy canadians have the balls to ask people to pay a fucking subscription while spending more time on shilling it during the reveal than on any actual gameplay changes.
A problem siege has is that the devs are too focused on the data collection aspect and not enough on how to actually feels to play the game. On the dev team's side, the data shows their systems and changes are working well, but it isn't being communicated to the player base. The data might show that the matches are well balanced, but what really matters is player perception. And the current perception a lot of people have of ranked 2.0 is that it's hell fuck nightmare place where fun goes to die in an endless ocean of cheaters. I do think the hate for ranked 2.0 is overblown, it's hard to gauge the match quality when seemingly every game has cheaters. But I also think something the devs' data can't show and something they seem to really undervalue, is how much the people actually care about seeing their ranks.
Was literally addressed in the video, the problem is that feedback from ranked 2.0 is usually a very small % of the actual people playing, and that most of that feedback is not insightful at all and just boils down to "game bad".
It's def not overblown. I came back after a 5year break and it's hard for me to believe just how shitty ranked is now. I played in gold back than, and most games were very consistent. Now, Im in gold, and every other match has diamond+ or even just champs in it. How tf are you ever supposed to rank out of lower ranks if you are playing top ranks every game?
@@Huckle777 literally doesn’t work like that at all, you probably played a few games like that because the game is dead and then go around saying it like it happens every game.
@@vryyyx Love how you are going to come here and tell me what I experienced. I've played a good 30+ matches so far this season and AT LEAST every other match has at least one person with a champ border. My very last game had two lmfao.
@@Huckle777 then ur hidden mmr is higher than ur actual rank, either that or what I said before. How are you going to tell me you are a legitimate gold (average 50% of the player base), and you’re going up against champs (0.8% of the player base) consistently? Never happened to me when I was champ multiple seasons, never happened to multiple others I know who were champ. The only people who were gold had hidden MMR in high diamond or champ, that’s the only way.
The reason I dislike Ranked 2.0 is that I feel that the visible rank has less intrinsic value to me. When I'm playing against Golds/Plats in Copper, it not only makes ranking up harder, but it also doesn't act as a good marker for my skill. I don't really know who I'm playing against, I just go with what I was before Ranked 2.0 (Gold/Plat). The only thing I want is a way to show my growth as a player (making the hidden MMR visible and changing as I improve). Then it would be the best of both worlds. I know if I get better or worse, and the casual grind isn't a bad as Ranked 1.0 with placements and such. I still play it with friends every now and then, but I still want an in game skill indicator.
hidden mmr is your matchmaking one and you get that if you take the average of 4 lest seasons you played so when you start a new season the system goes and knows your rank to start matchmaking your games imagine if you saw the rank if champ from the get go would you still try and grind ranked?
@@hellix_224 Depends. In my situation, I would prefer it because I still have something to work for. My skill level is about average, so I know that I can improve and could play Ranked while also seeing my actual improvement. With people who were champs in 1.0, they probably didn't have much to grind for either. Once you reach the top, there is nowhere else to go. The same thing applies to 2.0, except you could achieve champ at a way lower skill level than in 1.0. The only incentive in 1.0 was the feeling of getting better (and maybe the charms) and the only incentive for 2.0 is the packs and card backgrounds (and still, maybe the charms). The intrinsic value for me is gone without being able to see my skill grow in real time. I do understand your argument here, but the 1.0 champs who still play Ranked probably don't play to prove themselves anymore, but just to play one of their favorite games in a competitive environment. That's my take on the matter. Edit: oof, went a bit overboard. Sorry for the wall of text lol.
@@mr.mcflurryco.1034 ye but you have to think for all players and for all scenarios not only you right and I know for a fact my mmr is about 4600 why would I play more to make it higher when it's well in champ and how about low ranks are they gonna grind if they see their hidden rank is lower than they would hope? 🤔idk
I personally believe that getting rid of placement matches was a dumb decision. The reason being was after you did those placements you had a rough idea of how well you are at the game. Now if you want that same rank for example in rank 1.0 I would place plat 3 now if I want to get to plat or emerald you have to play more than double that amount of matches. Now everyone has these ranks that don’t actually translate to their actual ranking. I don’t see how that is better for the average player such as myself. It’s way more grindy and less rewarding of a feeling.
And then new players or kids wanna talk abt their KD also and it’s like bruv if I’ve been playing for so long, my KD is barely gonna in/decrease 😭 my WL can change (due to the idea of placement matches) but haven’t played new reworked since after the release of OSA
@@reaperkillz2420 can’t say, haven’t played since they reworked the system 😂 I’m just someone that saw something in the game and how it’s now a shill tryna be like every other FPS w it’s battle pass. I stopped playing siege once they changed the szn pass of 1 op+map. But you’d have to play in the new system bc that’s how it was when you’re just getting back into rank. And fix your elo gain-loss now “based on performance” not frags-playing obj
@@KingBLUCK funny thing is I’m not asking for the competitive side of the game to be destroyed, I’m just asking for the casual side of the game not take a backseat for the competitive side , separate them if possible even , like have two modes one competitive one truly casual .. a bit of a side note but recruit rushing was genuinely memorable and fun , just let us go wild and dumb in a casual game mode
Hello Siege community. At Ubisoft, it is our mission to listen to players. We understand that our community does not like ranked 2.0 We want to make sure our game is as fun and enjoyable as possible, which is why next season, we will be removing ranked mode for all players.
“Social incentives” which means they found better ways to manipulate people. That’s nice. That’s why my win rate always has to be at 50% now. They matchmake based on numbers now. They can say they didn’t change the match making but it doesn’t feel like it. It was a night and day switch when ranked 2.0 came into the game. Also reason some people are focusing on the matchmaking over cheating is because most siege players are in console and console doesn’t really have any cheaters in comparison to pc.
There has always been an incentive to keep people at 50% win rate. That was true with the Trueskill MMR system they borrowed from Xbox LIVE that was around during the Xbox 360 era.
@@GGE except in the original ranked system it was obviously less strict because it had a more limited pool of players to pick from to manipulate the outcome of your match with since it was abiding by rank. In ranked 2.0 without a 5 stack the teammates you are given are almost guaranteed to be horrible and occasionally even do bad that they are a detriment to your team.
I just wish Mousetrap actually worked on console cause I’m tired of every game having some Emerald and up MnK sweat just gunning everyone down with Twitch/Oryx
“Don’t complain about your problems when people are starving in China” ahhh video EVERY single person I’ve ever talked to in the game prefers 1.0 to 2.0. I’m not talking about social media - I mean IN the game. Ranked, customs, quick match, doesn’t matter. Some good aspects of 2.0 include being able to play with anyone, and having more ranked rewards. But these can be done with the 1.0 MMR system.
My issue is when ranks mix when I’m in bronz and I’m fighting champs and emeralds how does this help me it makes each game a luck aspect are your enemies bad and your team good or vice versa
Playing with your friends in other tables is good but it adds some of that disconnect how can we learn if we get domed immediately by somone who is higher on the bell curve at Lest in the ranked system I think you can only play with people a rank above and below this allows those with similar skill levels learn and get better as well as gives that climb through learning and applying instead of luck based matchmaking
It doesn’t matter if they don’t do something about the cheaters on pc. ranked 1.0 atleast prevented Q abusing… too many people in 2.0 that are high elo grab their low elo friend to get easy matches. Would be nice for ubi to re-implement that feature
I legitimately left the game behind because of ranked 2.0. It took the fun out of the game for me with the hidden MMR system. I tried coming back and giving it a shot, but I was bronze facing champs because of hidden mmr (I was a previous champ). I stopped playing for 8 months and then came back and it was still the same, I was in low rank playing a 5 stack of champs. I love siege, but I'd much rather not play a 4-4 OT game in champ lobbies, it's just not fun for me. So for me it was ranked 2.0 that killed the game. And I do feel like it's actually possible for anyone to hit champ in 2.0, so it kind of takes away the value of it, I've seen people with negative win losses in champ so yeah. The system does need to be changed in my opinion or at least show your hidden mmr 👍🏽
I agree 100% I enjoyed 1.0. I hit Emerald in Heavy Mettle and I just was appalled with how easy it was and instead of it being challenging, it was rather "how many games can you put in" you can EASILY hit Emerald and it feels like shit when your rank truly feels as meaningless as it does currently.
The upside of being bad at the game (despite 1100 hours of play time) is that I don't really care that much. I do have some issues with ranked 2.0, but I had some issues with ranked 1.0 too. Ultimately the actual gameplay experience is fun, its just that the whole "number go up" thing is a little more annoying now cause of the hidden MMR. I dislike the idea that I can't see my "real" rank and that it doesn't reset every season anymore but I do understand why that was done. Not gonna make the call as to whether it was an overall positive or negative change since there's so many other factors that effect how much I enjoy the game too
your channel is so good because you actually use your brain when talking about the ranking systems and other topics. most other people i see always just regurgitate the "anyone can hit champ" line or other things we have heard a million times
I'm not a dedicated Ranked player and don't play as much as I used to, but this video was really well presented, G. The intro with the Ash charge was a very nice touch. Hope you're doing well and keeping your head on straight.
My biggest issue and concern with R2.0 is, I went from averaging low-to-mid Plat in R1.0 to struggling to clear silver in 2.0, I dunno if its due to MMR changes, I feel like right out the gate, I'm dealing with hella cheaters, two or three seasons where the highest I've hit has been low gold and I'm constantly facing champ/diamond charms from the last few seasons in copper/bronze.
As a console player I think the cheating is a worse problem than r2.0 but it is very frustrating as a plat to go against 3 champ 2 bronze five stacks I don’t think that you should be able to play with someone more than a rank away from you
Honestly there is a Ton of issues Ubisoft needs to address 1.- Ranked 2.0 SUCKS!! Nobody likes it! Why you may ask? Last update (1.0) you played your 10 matches some of them easy some of them not then you get your ranked then in no time you are in your current ranked. Now its super RANDOM one season you can be Diamonds then oh you stuck in Gold next season because you are against the same skill and in order to achieve the rank you were you need to grind and sometimes they give you +75 then they give you +20 then you loose and they take away -25 congratulations you are now stuck good luck 2.- you want to play ranked game well Good luck with cheaters ruining your game. And console has it worst MOUSETRAP DOES NOT WORK, you are in gold against Diamond and beyond w/ MK clapping your head because ranked 2.0 sucks! 3.- bad balancing! Can someone explain to me why it took So much time to nerf Solis, Fenrir,Azami? And on top of that why Wamai has an acog w/ 2 speed and impact nades? Same goes for Goyo. 4.- the operator bans needs to be reworked in some way i mean there is a total of almost 35 and 35 ops in each side i’ll love to ban more super strong operators not just Fenrir and Ying if we can ban 5 and 5 omg the strategy in each game will drastically change 5.- and now you offer a monthly subscription and a battle pass o hell NO 6.- just to make you think “Operation Para Bellum” had MORE content than the entire “Year 9” I’ve been playing this game for 8 years and im super disappointed on how Ubisoft managed this game now. Sorry for this angry rant but its the truth
1) visual rank is not taken into consideration when matchmaking. I agree with you that visual rank should have meaning, but it doesn't so don't prescribe any meaning to it. 2) yeah cheaters suck, I hope advancements are made in anti-cheat technology soon. but I fear competitive games are in for a tough time. 3) balancing is nuanced, recent changes have been good, but it has taken too long. the past would indicate it will get worse again, but who knows. 4) 1 per side per team is fine imo. the next lowest ban size would be 8 total, 2 per side per team (only multiples of 4). 8 is possible, but we aren't there yet (we will eventually) 5) just don't buy it. it's sucks but we cant stop them from monetizing. it's how the game is still alive. 6) 1 op per season, 2 balance adjustments per season, 1 map per year. I think year 9 is an off year, but if this continues the game will suffer. but yeah I agree with you sentiment, the game was on fire in deadly omen and they let all the momentum slip away. If the cheating situation isn't addressed properly I will have lost all hope too.
There’s no way you’re saying console has a worse cheating problem lmfao just beat them we’ve dealt with dumbass xim users for like 7 years pc you literally just get shit on by some dude with walls
I watched a genuine Pro-League player lose a game while still in Copper at the start of the season. That's the issue. That when I'm in Copper, I have to sweat my ass off just to climb even into Silver or Gold, because the people I'm playing against are Plats and Emeralds. It's basically making everyone a grinder because you have to grind from the starting post, and that's just less fun to me because I have to sweat my balls off in a shitty rank.
Been a fan of yours for a while, which is why I come back for vids despite the fact that my squad and I quit Siege a year ago or more. As is usually the case you made some solid points here. For my friends and I, we quit the game because we got tired of the drama, toxicity, and cheating. We can get pretty busy and when we game we want to have fun. And while we did have fun with Siege, it could also be super frustrating, playing a match with cheaters or trolls could suck all the fun out of the game. And to be honest, I really don't miss Siege, it hasn't crossed my mind to reinstall it, because I have other things to play and don't miss the chaos that is this games community. I feel bad for the devs, as I am sure they are doing their best to make this game fun for the community, but at this point it feels like a lose lose whatever they decide to implement or change.
@@bil4630 Racism, like really blatant racism. Also just people blasting music into the mic, team killing (if our entire squad wasn't playing.) If you have a full squad always playing its a different story. But if only 2 or 3 members are playing shit can get to toxic real quick. Also no one else has a problem with the community? We are talking about a community who are all unhappy with the game but can't agree on what they are unhappy about.
Great video as always but I do have one issue with ranked 2.0. As a console player (I’m sure PC will have similar issues) when I played ranked Beta I would typically go against the same level opposition as I was which felt fair. In Ranked 2.0 reverse boosting to face champs and consistently win is a rewarding feeling until you look at your own rank hard stuck in a lower rank. When pushing higher into the ranked system with better MMR that’s when console will fact XIM/ Chronus or PC cheaters. This will make ranked feel unworth the time and effort as I can face some legitimate champions and win, yet when my MMR is pushing my myself to get towards champion I get pushed back by those who can exploit the game. This is similarly to what you were saying. Unfortunately the nostalgia goggles paired with people in bronze going against reverse boosted champions makes the loud part of the player base cry out to say that it’s broken. We have been over the cheating & XIM topic, but would you know of any discussions to go around this reverse boosting being seen to the large population of players in a lower elo lobby? I appreciate all the videos you make 👍
I would really like an update on the Anticheat situation. THAT is why I'm not playing. I'm hoping you managed to ask them about the absolute negligent status of this game's core experience that is being destroyed by cheaters.
I started playing for the first time 5 days ago, I’ve played nothing but standard, but I am very aware of the current balancing issues and the lack of content.
Rainbow has changed. It's no longer about factions, communication, or teamwork. It's an endless series of proxy battles fought by mercenaries and machines. Rainbow and its consumption of life has become a well oiled machine. Rainbow has changed. ID taggged soldiers carry ID tagged weapons, using ID tagged gear. Machines inside their controllers to enhance and regulate their crosshair control. Bug patch, balance patch, rework patch, update patch. Everything is monitored and controlled by a patch. Rainbow has changed. The age of recruit rush has become the age of shield rush, all in the name of making shields a more common pick, and he who controls the attack controls the shield picks. Rainbow has changed. When the community's voices arent heard, toxicity becomes routine.
I feel like a lot of siege's issues you're describing could be better approached by Ubi investing in more qualitative user research. They always seem in the dark about player/community opinion and seem to rely heavily on quantitative data. Quantitative data is obviously important but what players are thinking matters just as much as what they're doing. It's alarming to me that game directors and players/communities don't seem to even agree on what the problems ARE, much less how to fix them
As a new player who's only played standard and not yet had my five stack on for a ranked match, I'd say I'm having fun learning different strats and doing dumb things that work sometimes like drop shotting as Deimos
I don’t mind going against people in ranked who have 10k+ hours and have been playing since day one with skill through the roof. My main gripe with R6S right now is the fact that I am getting a blatant cheater every game AND not getting any more than 8-12rp on those rollbacks once they are banned. The game itself is still super fun but it is hard to love it when I can’t gain skill and grow with my teammates. Thanks for the vid \o/
I just got back into siege after 7-8 years and I like 2.0 because the progression is very rewarding, I’m having a lot of fun with the game and now I am a much better player than I ever was before
I generally like ranked 2.0. It feels like I can make progress while also learning new things as I can be matched against people better then me. Back in ranked 1.0 with the rank reset every season it was always a coin toss to see if they actually deserved to be there (goldish area) or it's just a bronze being put into matches that they could never win. Now I'm not the best at the game I'll admit that but getting a bronze for a teammate in gold/plat just cause it's the start of the new season feels like the game is trying to make unfair matches. It was also very debilitating to have to win 2 to 3 matches to negate 1 loss (ok you would techniclly go up by +2 but that felt like no progress at all). I remember watching king george lose his shit near constantly for -15 a loss and +4 to +5 for a win at least until they added in champ the +25 or -25 per match cap. For all ranked 2.0 issues it's kept me playing the game for longer rather then ranked 1.0.
I almost exclusively play ranked every season to complete the battle pass. I’ve never made it past gold 4 in Ranked 2.0 and I progressively rank lower each season; now bronze 3 (old + skill issue)
My biggest thing with this whole hidden mmr shit is that ill have a couple games where i go 10 2 and then go 4 4 for the next 10 games but i get put up against diamonds and emeralds when i am not that skill level, its also really common for people to boost themselves with low ranks so you'll be in a silver lobby against diamonds, it really makes playing ranked annoying
As a player who’s been away for awhile, I’d love to see Siege take an Operation Health style approach where they stop making new content for a little while and go all-in on the in-house anti-cheat
I love playing Seige and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. but the thing I do want from the game is that the algorithm they talked about for detecting cheater behavior gets better over time and in they can, taking some form of action against cheat distributors/developers to disrupt the cheating market around siege. I hope quick match 2.0 removes the premade holes and reinforcements and they just speed up reinforcing in prep phase to retain player creativity while being speedy maybe even speed up reload time in prep phase so if you wanted to shotgun things open you would spend less time reloading.
Hey G, been watchin you for a minute, I feel a slight solution to ranked 2.0 could be: instead of resetting everyone back to copper, they should drop peoples rank by 1 or 2 ranks, it still allows ppl to climb but not as grindy
thank you for not making the same clickbaity video every other siege creator has been making (something along the lines of "ranked 2.0 RUINED Siege...")
I think it’s on fair because me and my friends silvers played in a game with three plats on the other team and silver ones was the lowest on the other team. We got a bronze and me and my buddies are silver 4
The biggest problem that i have is not with the way ranked 2.0 works but the matchmaking itself honestly. I dont get how the skill disparity between my team and the enemy can be that high, certainly didnt feel like it in 1.0
The biggest issue with ranked 2.0 is at least to my knowledge as well as personal experience and friends is due to the fluctuations of how you gain RP due to your MMR everything about ranked 2.0 is fine but there isn't a flat rate of RP gained or lossed sometimes you gain way more than what would be considered normal let's say 80 RP per win but only lose 8 for a loss. For other people it can be the opposite they gain 20 but lost something around 30 making it frustrating to push further ranks. At least this is what I think.
My priblem with ranked 2.0 is that it's unreliable. Am I gold or is my hidden mmr just a silver? Am I playing against a copper or a plat? I can only go off of my visible rank. I don't know if I'm improving, if I'm better than the last season, because I can only see my "battle pass" rank
Personally me and my stack are all on an all time motivation wise for siege. I think due to a combination of ranked 2.0 being a slaught to grind after a certain point and lack of content or rather lackluster updates. Like for me personally this season feels like an extension of the last season and thus haven't touched it in a month
i remember the issues i had with ranked 1.0 was that one game was enough to rank up or derank unless you got higher up into plat and diamond, the other big one was that it only cared about if you won or not, and this issue is still there in ranked 2.0, my issue with ranked 2.0 is atleast to me it feel like the matchmaking is horrible, both in stadard and in ranked the teams very often feel unbalanced, it doesnt help when i look at r6 tracker i see that im playing aiganst a team where there is 2 champs a plat then a copper or bronze, while my team i might have the highest rank of plat 3 with a bunch of golds and silvers, and its frustrating, both when im the best player and also when im playing people that ar waaaaay way better then me, and its not couse people que together with lower ranked players, this happens when im complete solo que mi team can look like that, my suggestion for the win rate thing is if we could use the same rating system that pro league uses and have that be the detrmining factor for rp, and sadly i dont know what to do about the second issue i have with 2.0
I absolutely adore the game. Been playing since operation chimera. My issue has nothings to do with the games itself. Its me. Early on when everything was new just the constant learning and improvement was enough to keep me coming back even if I had to solo queue. I preferred solo queuing actually. Now there’s little of each if any at all, my friends don’t play anymore, and to reach that next level of learning/strategizing I need a consistent stack. (i.e. timed site hits, group roam clearing, getting someone to play fucking hard breach when I play thatcher, etc) siege is my favorite flavor of gum but I think I’ve been chewing too long.
Ranked 1.0 i was gold 1 ranked 2.0 im a medium silver. Reasons why i left was the imbalance between operators, the strength of the player shifted from operators kit to gun skill and guns in general. No one plays objective anymore. You really do need a 5 stack to even play ranked and unranked. I just want the sweats to stay within their lanes, balance, and just fix the bugs, guns, and revert everything back to classic siege.
Good video my only question with this whole thing is why are they catering to the casual player in a ranked mode when there is a mode made for them ? And if they mean “casual ranked player” than the casual ranked player shouldn’t just be given higher up ranks plat to em just for playing you should have to challenge yourself to get better in some way to make improvements.
You're right ranked 2.0 is not the main issue thats causing mass destruction and nuclear bombs. But the cheating problem is lol. Siege has bad months they always have and yet somehow and someway this game never dies. Just praying next season is great
Imo there should be 10 solo queue games that should be done for every player to assess the individual skill level of every player .... Based off Kost , K/D , Gadget utility used = amount of points given using the gadget.... This will make a baseline skill level and then you can queue with players of your skill
this hits my g spot my thing is right now is that siege does not have a feeling like it will recover in a way most think it will. I think through bad business, philosophy, and decisions regarding the game's development, I think all good will with the current/former community has been spurned. The only way siege recovers now (imo) is that it needs to flip the script and some large gameplay loop changes need to occur to cultivate a new following if and only if they have no intention of reverting gameplay loops to previous states (tdm meta vs util meta. choose whichever was performing better and throttle it forthright). If they cannot or will not do such a thing then the gameplay loop as a whole needs to be reevaluated and reconstructed. Also, obligatory "the recruit rework failed" and "please make an anti-cheat"
Why don't they just make ranked 1.0 and 2.0 separate ranked playlists? Would that not be a fun and competitive compromise? The charms would look different from 1.0 to 2.0 to show each ones accomplishments. That way its rewarding and enjoyable for everyone.
The thing I preferred about original ranked was that my rank felt like a real achievement. When I ranked up, it felt like the manifestation of my skill and time put in to the game to improve, whereas the ranked 2.0 rank feels pretty meaningless. However, I will admit that I used to play ranked a lot less before because I would get scared of losing and dropping ranks (pretty dumb I guess but brain does what it do). However, regardless of that, ranked is still the premier way to play the game in my opinion, purely because everyone in the lobby is actually trying to win the game, most of the time. The likelihood I get team killed or someone is trolling or whatever BS is way higher in quick match and standard than in ranked
I honestly don't mind the Ranked 2.0 system. The more I think about it, the more it seems perfect for doing exactly what Ubisoft wanted it to do: get people to play more. If you don't hit the rank you deserve until you play for a while, people will play more to hit that rank. The only problems I think the system has is that if you get higher than your "Hidden MMR" the game will make you lose more RP than you gain, which punishes players for getting better, and not showing your Hidden MMR. I think everyone should at least be able to see what their skill rating is so they can accurately judge how good the game thinks they are without having to play 100+ matches in a season
It doesn't matter how good the ranking system is. I can't progress because high rank games (emerald and up and even sometimes platinum) are 60% full of cheaters
I’m sorry but the balancing of the game is definitely fixated around pro league they removed zofia self revive bc it was “op” in proleague. Ik that’s something small but let’s talk about the lmg meta in 2022 or 2021 I forgot the lmg meta lasted to seasons and it took them till the whole pro league tournament where everyone was spamming lmgs to realize they were overpowered and literally had everyone and I mean everyone was complaining about the ranked system and matchmaking is definitely for casuals but the balancing is most definitely pro league based
The issue im having with ranked 2.0 is the matchmaking. Ive never hit champ or even diamond and have barely hit emerald and lost it within a few matches but yet I constantly get paired against champions. This should not be happening. I have a .8 KD as of now and there are many things affecting it including me just being trash, the mnk cheaters, and the excessively high ranked players that I am constantly getting paired with. It really irritates me and I have been playing for years. I still play the game as it is one of my favorites but this should not be happening.
The curent rank system is bad at the beginning of a season you get a shit ton of RP when you win but after like a week you loose more RP IN A MATCH than you gain from multiple WON Matches for exemple last season i was getting +15 RP per winned match and i was loosing -25 RP (best case) per lost match , you literally get hardstuck in a rank , besides getting matched with plat or diamond rank people while my teams highest rank is gold , i just gave up on rank compleatly its imposible
Ranked 2.0 is bad because it makes it hard for you to determine your own skill level. Which also means it’s hard to determine the level you’re playing against. “Is that guy good or cheating”, “Should I expect these people to run default site setups”, etc. Another thing is that you start in Copper. So while the game is now more giving towards the bottom half. I would have to play I don’t even know how many matches to reach Plat 3. While in the old system it would only take 10 matches. One of the many reasons behind me quitting the game, does the cheater situation suck? Yes. But it was no way near the deciding factor
When Ubi talks about their data, they talk "engagement". And since they created a grinding experience with 2.0, of course people need to play more ranked. So everyone that still plays is just playing more while being more miserable at the same time. Not a long term solution since people will fall off the hamster wheel after a season or two.
I'd agree that not everyone can hit champ, I know I definitely can't, but then why am I frequently placed against players in champ when I'm in low emerald? I literally had a game last season with the #1 champ on xbox. Either ranks are meaningless or there's a massive matchmaking problem.
I don't honestly care about the ranked system as much I don't often play it, but for me it seems like people are caring about it too much yes it's bad but the recent changes to the game also are way worse than ranked 2.0, everybody was hyped about the recruit remaster but when we got it, it was almost the same just more gadgets and only 1 person can pick him which defeats the whole purpose of him it, was an operator that everybody would start with, but they made him just like any other you can even say there's no reason to keep him in the game anymore since his main role was removed, yeah he might be good solo q but it won't get you anywhere as far as playing the normal operators. The removal of T hunt, I don't understand why people don't talk about it at all anymore it was a place to try out new operators have fun with friends or play solo when you had bad internet, instead we got a mode where we can only play some attackers on random maps against only 5 ai's it's pretty much useless, while it's fun to see the ai's actually do something they are still bad in overall play, they just sit in one place and one tap you, you can see valk roaming from time to time, but I've never seen her try to sneak behind me, the bots just run to site after something happens, they also scan you... rarely and they never react to you getting pinged. The game also has a lot of bugs and idk it might be just me but I watched a video of siege from like 4 years and textures looked better, it's a small thing but I still miss the old look of alpha pack cards. Also ubi's team ignores gadgets a lot of the time like yeah they nerfed solis and fenrir, but why won't the buff thorn she has a neat trap but to get any value from it you either need a bad enemy or a great placement, I also don't understand why fenrir can see when his gadget activates I mean melusi has a similar one but you never see when hers activates you need to stand around a corner to hear it and it's not like I want her to see the activation of it but take fenrirs ability to do that away. Also when you get on cams the default ones have really limited turn angle and it's so annoying you either have to tell your team their general location or red ping them. I don't like that they removed the 1.5 now before you send me to hell for what I said, it wasn't the scope that was the problem it was how they gave it out, instead of giving it to operators with good gadgets and weak weapons they were either giving it to operators with bad gadgets like thorn or to already powerful guns like mozzie's roni . I just hope we start pushing Ubisoft more to finally stop killing this game cuz I swear the blackbeard rework is just a coinflip either they make a new operator out of him or they'll give him the recruit treatment.
I really enjoy playing siege tactically in Standard and i feel like i am pretty decent. However, im afraid to play ranked because i dont want to get "told by the game" that im a copper player when i start to only get 3 per win and lose 15 per lose when im still in a low rank. That must just be the worst feeling ever. So I haven't played ranked in 5 years.
y biggest issue with 2.0 is if i’ve been a legitimate champion player and i take a 2 month break from the game and im significantly worse and ranked copper i still play champions of my skill OR BETTER that have played 300 games first 3 weeks of the season
Siege is still my favorite game, but I have noticed that I have barely played this season other than the first week. Im assuming its because the amount of cheaters but mostly because of the lack of content, playing ranked this season felt exactly the same as last season. I feel that a lot of people are in the same boat as me. I am very exited for mute protocol coming back though!
My suggestions for Ubisoft is for ranked 2.0 just let people see their hidden MMR/rank. Because how are we supposed to improve as players if we can't even see a variable that determines what people were going up against in ranked matches, because I honestly think that's what makes a lot of people angry.
