FromSoftware just doesn't mix them. Makes it better tho, having a bucket of cake AFTER the bucket of sh!t is more rewarding, and better, than having just two buckets of messy semi-sweet sh!t.
Right we all know ubisoft missions are just something like a side quest. It wouldn't be it's own area and the rewards aren't going to be good. But Formsoft makes almost whole games for dlc and adds more stuff then most AAA games have all together 😂.
Ubisoft: you can pay three times the price of Elden Ring Dlc for a mission with Jabba Customer: 😐 Fromsoft: you can pay 40 bucks for a whole ass new game Customer: TAKE THE CARD, QUICK, DO IITT!
Fuck brand loyalty. Brand loyalty is for mark ass suckers. If From releases a trash game, we'll all call it trash and not buy. If From becomes Ubisoft, they should be treated as such.
Not so much loyalty, it's about value. No one with any sense will buy a £50+ "dlc" that adds like 1 mission and a few skins. but an entire expansion worth of quests and hours of good quality gameplay, sign em up
And may also come down to I don't know earned Trust through quality products over the years Bungie used to have this before in the 2000's with the HALO Series this is what happens when you treat your customers right
The fact that the jabba's dlc is buyable from day one is proof that the mission is not an extra, it's just a portion of the base game removed from the standard edition.
yeah thats it. in the end it really comes down to marketing even if both was always planed it just come off as greedy. Pluss no one want to be excluded, and makinge a "rich only" club just has a bad taste. Like: are you making a game ore are you just asking us to give money. Also starwas is old, Elden ring is new. like oh i get "jabba" wonder who "jabba" no, we all know jabba, you just milking old nostalgia with no innovation involved.
@@MouseGoat Fromsoft dlcs are polished, and add alot of content, in dark souls 3 dlc was improving game by alot, i would say that this section was more polished than rest of the game, bosses were much better and harder for sure.
This is the difference between buying a fully finished game and buying the game to help finish it I'm tired of waiting 6 months to a year for game to be even somewhat playable
@@A120AMIR12 Those games are still finished games as opposed to the modern day AAA game, which are premium alphas. Also, 5-10 for an indie is a huge exaggeration on top of the fact that good AAA games usually take about that long also? BG3 was about 5-7 years iirc.
@@A120AMIR12 I mean true we do have long waiting periods but usually we get playable games that are not too broken or too overpriced halfway through development. they don't oversell or try to make us pay for more content on release.
@@zerrrro yeah completely agree with both of you But this guy was complaining about 6to 8 month waiting and I was like that's rookie stuff for us I was complaining about that part for the part that the games are incomplete/bad That's literally why I'm in the indie community
Because Fromsoft is known for making quality games and DLC that rivals the base game. It doesn’t feel like cut out content, it feels like what DLC should feel like; an expansion of the base game.
What's even better is they will use cut assets in later installments. Bless those developers, if only they could dedicate just a bit more time to flesh out the late game areas. But, that's alright in my book.
Especially since the dlc might add possible hundreds of more hours to the game, the base game nearly took my a hundred hours to reach the final boss, can't imagine how many more I would have with the dlc
To them, it's like, "Eh, you know the game is 2 years old, still finding some new stuff... Here's a DLC that is basically the Elden Ring+ and with even more new stuff so CCs can keep making videos, and the story is now 250 hours long... I wonder if it's enough." @marker7753
@@thirtydaysveganandcounting Shadow of the Erdtree is 40+ hours. I've played several full priced games that have a 7 hours campaign, Like NFS Carbon or Wanted weapons of faith. And DS 3 Ringed city took me about 13-14 hours and I'm not complete shit at the game, took Midir on my second go.
@@TheHePoHthe spider man game was $70 when it first released, the game didn't even take 5-6 to complete I was like I payed $70 for a game I can complete in 1 day

I love how fromsoftware is represented in this short. When Jacob says that he can't justify spending $40 on dlc, fromsoftware accepts it and doesnt complain. Edit: gang I got elden ring, it's absolutely worth it
Them they’re like: Wait…really?!? When he says he’s buying the collector’s edition. see being loyal to your customer base actually nets you more profits without need for cash grabs
@@kriegsmanjaeger5545 Probably because they estimate the amount of tries you take on each boss as a lot lower than it takes most players. Like the testers have played this so much by the time they check how long it really is they can do every boss in 1 to 3 tries.
@@kriegsmanjaeger5545 I remember that, it was so funny cause a couple devs poked fun at Fromsoft for making a small open world game "we have 80+ hours of content in X game!" They got quiet on release lol. At least until the UI silliness.
Day 1 DLC is insane. That means that whatever is in the DLC was either originally part of the game, then cut out as a cash grab, or it was developed from the beginning as a DLC, before the game was finished. Either option just gives the image of greedy, money hungry, player hating companies.
Fromsoftware has also had areas that they scrapped or didn't finish. Then later added to a dlc or another game. However fromsoft makes them an entirely different. Ubisoft just adds thing that already should have been in the game. For the low low price of a 150$
ironically giving me a justifyable reason to encourage piracy for a game that is called star wars outlaws. ubisoft can suck a fat one for their practices.
the best part is...Jabba and his missions are in the game apparently. so you are dopping 40 bucks just to get 2 or 3 more missions. the big different between this and DLC unfinished areas is. those unfinished/scrapped areas wernt finished before the game came out. day 1 DLC is litterly already in the game files...you are just paying 40 bucks to unlock existing content for an extra 20min of gameplay (also. tecnically this is DLC BEFORE the release...as you can play with that 'dlc' 3 days before the game comes out. making it day -3 DLC)
“We made an extra mission. It’s an additional $60 and last 20 minutes.” “Hi here’s our DLC. It’s the size of the base game. It’s $40 and will take you about 60 hours. If you buy it Miyazaki will kiss you on the mouth.”
@@OmegaBlue-gb5bu lol wdym by fanboying. I still won't buy outlaws just because Ubisoft owns it. It will probably be a mess trust me and not worth any of the extra money. pre orders are kinda fishy by nature but fromsoft has a very clean track record. They always deliver while ubisoft games as of late are meh at best.
Yeah, that's like 150+ hours worth of content... for a single playthrough, chances are most players are going to want to do multiple playthroughs too, sure those subsequent playthroughs will be faster but doesn't mean they'll be any less worth it.
And no extra bs! You get access to everything just by playing the game normally, no shitty micro transaction, no special paid only cosmetics, everything is available! You just have to git gud enough to earn it
@@gaeron1305 There's another new AC game? Edit: I just realized I was talking about Armored Core, and you were probably talking about Assassin's Creed.
In my youth, we used to call "expansion packs" those big "DLCs". They're expensive because they add the equivalent of a third of the original game. FromSoftware is old school and that's a good thing.
I dont think anyone should be loyal to a company and take anything they put out. This is just having trust that the chances are higher that its good than Ubisoft delivering a steaming pile of shit.
Idk about loyalty, it's value. no one with common sense will waste 130 for an extra few missions, skins etc. But an entire game expansion with hours worth of play time. and people will spend 40+ easily. sure the company respecting their customers helps, but the main thing is the value you get from the game. is it cost effective with the entertainment you gain.
@@emetanti tbh the problem is unfounded loyalty, people will go to the same shitty brand over and over thinking it's better than all the others, when in reality it's over priced and half put together by sweatshop workers and underpaid interns. If people sacked off loyalty to a brand name, and only bought things worth what they cost, then companies wouldn't be able to price gouge. But they know 100's of 1000's of people will buy what ever they churn out for how ever much they charge. Looking at you apple...
if you ignore the star wars bs and price 40 dollars for a dlc is hella expensive and the justification is "good brand" nah fam baldurs gate 3 goes on sale for 40 dollars re4 remake dlc was 10
My first interaction with Fromsoft games was Armored Core 6. First a little story time. I bought most expensive preorder of Dying Light two, i liked the game but some aspects of it were unpolished as it tends to be with new titles and it improved a lot over the years but story is absolute shit towards the end, game was advertised with how much your choices mattered but 3 out of 4 endings are basically same and only different one is the bad ending. I went into AC6 without much expectation, i knew its a hard bullet hell with mechs. I cried at least 3 times and only one was because of difficulty. The story is masterpiece the gameplay is super fun and even tho some of the choices are there just to make a choice and no one hides it the characters still make you feel like it mattered at least a bit and deeper you dive down the rabbit hole of references the more you appreciate how much effort was poured into that game.
with 925 hours in Elden Ring, I feel like I'm scamming Fromsoft at this point whenever I play. When you break it down it comes out to under 7 cents per hour played lmao
And that's where Strauss Zelnick(the guy from take 2,GTA,bla,bla,bla)says he thought about charging BY THE HOUR cause the games they make are so content heavy its not enough charging 60 or 70 bucks for a full game. I'm guy who has tons and tons of hours on some games so imagine paying a dollar for each hour of those games.I would go bankrupt.
Fromsoftware’s “DLC” is practically a standalone game given the amount of content. From what I can tell, the self-portrait DLC from Ubisoft is ONE mission.
There’s bothing to support this. The longest a fromsoft dlc goes is like 5h. I don’t think the doc will be bigger then twice the usual ones as it costs twice as much
I genuinely think Ubisoft and EA are deliberately pumping out more and more garbage content and continuing to Hemorrhage money as some sort of scheme to avoid paying higher taxes. You can’t pay taxes on nonexistent revenue.
@@justinh9674 you can “not think the dlc will last twice as long”, but you have no clue. FromSoft always expands and goes beyond what the base game does with the new bosses and areas to explore. Maybe if you speed run the ringed city you could maybe do it in like 8 or 10 hours but I completed it full and got about 20-24 hours out of a 20$ dlc. I will always root for FromSoft and the fact that they purchased the rights to Eldin Ring from Bandai Namco just proves that they wanted to completely blow our minds with no due dates forced upon them by the publishers. Just wait for it and we shall see which reigns supreme
I agree with the first statement but the second... If you do it blind and dont speedrun it you get more than five hours at EVERY DLC! Its possible that the ds1 DLC isnt five hours but even that you get more than 5 hours if ds1 is your first/second game from the soulsborne series. So your saying that Old Hunters, Ringed City and the other Ds3 DLC AND every Ds2 DLC not more than five hours (per DLC) are?!
I actually dont understand why AAA developers even think like that anymore... Literally just put in the work and make it a fair price and an actually finished and polished game and we would GLADLY pay some extra money for stuff here and there. Its a shame
@@LOLDEMOS I mean I'm not gonna spend that much money on a star wars game. Even tho I fucking love Star wars. But I will definitely buy the elden ring dlc
Got to think people. When a souls-borne game is made and there's a DLC to it, it's not going to be just simply one or two extra levels and a couple new bosses. No, it's going to be an entire miniature sized campaign that's going to take you anywhere from 2 to about 8 hours to complete. Unless you're a speedrunner then probably going to be like an hour and a half tops
So basically like New Vegas and it's 4 big DLCs. All of them featured maps that were like a quarter of the Mojave in size and had their own campaigns that took... 6-8 hrs to go through.
If you think this expansion is gonna take 2-8 hours I got news for you pal... If its truly slightly larger than limgrave but more dense with content, we're easily looking at 20 hours for a rushed playthrough and 40-80 for a slow and steady run.
Ubisoft likes to release games with paid "DLC", while FromSoftware likes to do the original method by releasing completed games, and later introduce game-sized DLC for almost half the price of the base game.
@@grimmnightshade7174That is not a very good way to measure how worth it what you're getting is... the value of a DLC is much more subjective. Storage space taken can be affected by poor optimization
Destiny 2 is the same way. When you buy a dlc from them, it usually involves getting a new 10-hour campaign if you play legendary mode along with a raid, dungeon and lots of side quests, not to mention the piles of weapons and armor that you get for playing through all the listed activities.
$40 for one mission vs $40 for an entire new area, story, bosses, leveling system, new weapons, new armor, new weapon types, new incantations, new sorceries, lovable characters, npc quest lines, connections to the main game, and the boss fights are fun. Edit: this is the first time I’ve gotten over ten likes on a comment thanks guys
It's actually even worse because ubisoft is charging 110 minimum just to get their Jabba mission while Fromsoft is charging 40 bucks for an expansion for a game that's been out for years now.
Ubisoft charging you $30 for a single hotdog and then charging you extra for the ketchup &/or mustard that should have been included with the purchase of the hotdog. While the Fromsoftware sells gourmet hotdogs with all the fixings, fries and a drink for $40
Literally this. On top of being woefully incomplete or lacking in content on launch, Ubisoft have already let their fan base know that what they are buying isn’t truly theirs. Why buy a game that might be revoked in the future?
As an aside, fuck Ubisoft. But, this quote is taken out of context. It was answering a question about what would be needed for game subscriptions to become a more lucrative. It's the correct answer to a hypothetical question, not a demand upon gamers. Now of course, when they start making moves to try and force games into subscription models, then we riot.
they deserve it for the money they're asking. its like if theres 2 equidistance toll booths charging the same amount, but only one is willing to use their proceeds to pave the road its on
There's also the fact that the DLC is practically an entire game itself, for only $40. vs buying a game stripped of content for $70, and buying the full game for $130, which is what these "Editions" always do.
and pre-ordering is IDIOCY paying upfront for quality that isn't guaranteed is idiotic yeah it shows your trust in the product and the company but more often than not companies use this to fund the launch of a product that is full of bugs that they can fix later it encourages laziness, manipulative tactics (like pre-order bonuses) and entitlement.
1. I get your point, but anyone is free to do with their money as they see fit. 2. Yes, paying pre orders is, nowadays, dumb because the game might be riddled with issues like you said, but then again, I waited for almost 2 years for this and I play the game at least once a week since launch.
Trust is an important thing. Anybody that has played any of the fromsoftware DLC will know that they care about the quality. They have not disappointed and dont plan to. Ubisoft has been dumping garbage for years and wonders why people dont care anymore. Its time they learned a lesson.
they are also worth it in terms of playtime. I can guarantee you the jabba the hut mission is gonna be 20mins tops. EA and Ubisoft have pretty much buried their reputation under a mountain of greed
plus the infamous quote from ubisoft that basically says something along the lines of "be prepared to not actually own the games you pay for" you can look the full quote up but that's basically what they said and apparently in 24 hours since that quote, their stock dropped like 20% or something along those lines, it was a few months ago at this point

$250 is fuckin’ insaaaane for an addon regardless of how large or good. Been saying from day one that DLC shouldn’t exist but here we are having to pay the most exorbitant prices for an addon to a video game that we also pay for in the first place… $60 for a new game with all of the content already included was the golden age pricing.
“Yes, our $130 Ultimate edition comes with so much! The best part is, you don’t even own it! We can take it away from you at any time, and offer no refund!”
Like Milo mentioned, the game isn’t done yet, there is probably some reason they didn’t show Easter egg stuff yet, like maybe the didn’t want to mention it until we first play zombies ourself, something to note is that the early access is purely data collection, it’s about feedback, so when the game is fully released, maybe things will be fixed
That's because Fromsoft actually offers quality for what we are buying and Ubisoft does not. Plus Miyazaki tends to undersell his own work so when he says "it's about the size of Limgrave" it is probably bigger.

True. When people see a well developed and good project they are willing to support a DLC financially no matter the cost in opposition to companies that care about the fanbase's money from the first place
The fact is that Elden ring DLC has been in the works for 2 years and is probably bigger than we think it is. Miazaki also has had a history of being humble about his games lengths, he orginaly said elden ring was a 30 hour experience and now he said the DLC was just a bit bigger than Limgrave.
