That's how, you find a good parody: They keep the characters but increase they intensity and keep the story mostly as it is.

I would say it needs more zasshu but it gets that balance pretty fucking good too.

Well, making characters act more like assholes is an age-old staple of the Abridged genre... and Gil is just like that in canon.

@@molybdaen11 I personally think that's one of two ways to go about it. You either crank up their character to the max and make it a joke, or you could take another route and instead flip the characters on their heads. Create something that contradicts the original so much that it's funny. Things like SAO Abridged do this well

I mean it should be... I wouldn't refer to Gilganesh in Archer class as "The king of ego and arrogance" otherwise.

Apparently its canon that the Matou are burdened with being good at everything except the thing they want most and as such waste the gifts they do possess. Just another example I guess.

I think nasu actually confirmed that shinji has exelent potential and ability, its just wasted cause he has no potential in magecraft which is the one thing he wants, and also hes well, shinji. If he was born to a better family and in like ancient greece he had the potential to be a greek hero. Too bad his situation and lack of capability with magecraft turned him into the worm we love to hate.

If I remember correctly, he did conically show respect to Sella.

Gil has no hate for Homunculi. Their creators yes. But the tools themselves he cannot hate, they are much like swords or hammers and all the more tragic in that this hammer was given a heart and the ability to suffer. (Enkidu his only best friend was himself the homunculi of the gods. And it tore him apart having to kill him because his owners decided to break their tool upon Gilgamesh.)

@@Sandman382 I don't believe Gilgamesh killed kidu though? Kidu was straight up cursed to "die", and it seems to be confirmed to be the fate lore as well since he states that he is weak to curses of death in strange/fake, or rather, Gil does.

Gilgamesh actually sees homunculi as pure creatures. They don't get lumped in with modern humans to him, and Gil is generally pretty respectful of things he doesn't see as trash (again, mostly modern humans). This includes when he had to kill Ilya, which he did relatively emotionlessly rather than engaging in his usual banter.

@@ProjectMouthwash You can also see that attitude seep through when he's summoned to places where humanity either hasn't screwed up his "garden" as much or are trying to help fix it, like in the Extra/CCC and FGO worlds. He's still arrogant as hell, because of course he is, but he's far less vicious and dismissive towards even modern humans. Though in this case I'm sure it doesn't hurt that the homunculi probably *do* remind him of Enkidu, given that it was also created as a tool with a heart and disregarded by its creators once it no longer suited their purposes.

They don't really function in any way like normal axes. Halberds are polearms, closer to spears than axes.

Not really. An Axe is a cutting weapon that is swung. The haft on a Halbeard is far to long to be effectively swung, its more a thrusting weapon. The axe head is more for catching and grappling weapons rather then cutting into them opponents

@@GamerFlair This is, in basically every way, totally wrong. Polearms can absolutely be swung as a cutting weapon basically the same way a person can swing a twelve foot long piece of wood as a blunt force weapon. The *hook* is for grappling, the axe blade (which is literally the most common terminology for the blade on a halberd) was used as a cleaving weapon exactly like an axe would be, albeit the form involved is pretty different.
