Bleach (S) Abridged Ep31 - "Follow the Leader" 

Heya all! Pinned explanation for those who seek it out: as the chapter titles make note of, Orihime's actress changed this episode. While this is far from the first time this show has had to change VAs (Zangetsu, Ishida, Chad, Byakuya, Tessai, Orihime's fairies, Tatsuki, etc, etc), this one is particularly noticable since Mimi Mimoa had been with us since the beginning through eight years of episodes, compared to the others which were mostly between episodes 5 and 6. The reason we decided towas a good thing, so don't worry: there's no bad blood or anything. Simply put, Project Mouthwash almost enitrely works out of Vancouver, British Columbia. We all record in the same location for consistency and have even flown people up here from the states to keep the sound in-house. Mimi and her husband have both been doing phenomenally in their careers as actors and VAs over the last half a decade, and the two finally decided to move to LA. Staying in contact and arranging flights/recording sessions for them to come back simply became too complicated for a variety of reasons, so almost entirely due to proximity and circumstances we decided to recast and wish Mimi all the best with her career. Her work on the show has been phenomenal, but that's just how things go sometimes! Taking up the role is Katy Johnson. We actually did have Mimi's lines for this episode and a mix with her in it, but we decided to switch things over earlier and had Katy retake Orihime's scene. Katy isn't able to come in to our space to record, but she has access to home equipment that makes it a non-issue. We love her take so-far, and are excited to merge Mimi's take on Orihime with what Katy will bring to the role!

“I did capture Orihime though”. I feel like he wanted to fight Ichigo but didn’t know how to start the fight.

I appreciate that we are still doing the running gag of Ulquiorra just deciding to stop whenever literally anyone tells him to

Both Zangetsu's reaction to being inside a dead Ichigo is hilarious

The Zangetsu and White dynamic is absolutely hilarious

"You can use your quincy bullshit" "i can't use your regeneration bullshit" "I CAN'T" "EVERYTHING IS GOING WRONG"

"You've completely destroyed the feng shui of my foyer" i will never get over that line 😂😂

Im surprised there wasn't a joke made about grimjaw literally breaking a door shaped hole through the wall next to the actual door

I like how Ulquiorra flipped the "we don't have to be enemies" dynamic back at Ichigo

Zangestu having a mental breakdown was pure gold

The fact that Grimmjow is so wildly unpredictable is kind of terrifying. It's up there with Ulquiorra's inability to understand human behavior. It's like staring down a big cat just before it pounces.

"Might I ask, in what universe did you see that working?" Best line of the episode

"There is no out! you're holding a bag of building chunks and the bag is also building chunks!" made my day

“See now it’s justified” Best god damn line so far 😂

"My wind pipe isn't a handle bar!" Isn't a line I was expecting to hear and I loved it XD

5:03 I had no idea Ichigo's voice could reach that high of a pitch. It's surprising how many things you can learn in anime if you just get ragdolled a bunch.

"Sugar skulls but sad this time" had me on the floor.

White and zangetsu arguing is great, mostly cause they don’t need to hide the fact his a Quincy

Ulquiorra’s absolute chill has gone from funny to kinda creepy in the best way. 😂

the little lip smack when ulquiorra said he took orihime was frikkin classic

I just realized when he said he took orihime, instead of flash step ichigo used sonido to try and blitz him. Ulquiorra made this man so angry he used his hollow powers while in base shikai.

Ulquiorra is lowkey the funniest character while still maintaining, sort of, his original personality. Love it :o

Ulquiorra: Who said the numbers on the ten Espada went from 1 to 10? Yammy: Hey, he stole my line!

I love this take on Ulquiorra. He just sounds almost like the entire fight he's wondering "did I leave the stove on?" and it is perfect. I also adore this take on Orihime, had some amazingly funny lines

Imagine the Zanpakutou Rebellion filler arc by Project Mouthwash. It'd be really fun!

Zangetsu going for groceries leading to fake Zangetsu not being able regen Ichigo is a very funny reason to intro the Vasto Lorde form later

This episode is coming WAAAAY sooner than I expected (I was thinking October). Like it doesn't appear to follow the usual pattern for time required for... Let's call it, appealed approval. A slightly confusing, yet extremely pleasant surprise. Finally a taste of luck for Project Mouthwash. And thank you for always keeping us posted in both social media and the RU-vid Community tab. We soon shall enjoy the fruits of the cast's and your labor.

Ulquiorracold stopping cold on the steps just because he took Ichigo's word literally was way funnier than it had any right to be.

That confusing bonding moment got me. Ichigo and Ulquiora almost bonded and then when he brought up Orihime and Ichigo goes 0 to 100 real quick. XDDD

Hey friends, October 10 will mark the 9 year anniversary of the first episode Project Mouthwash released for Bleach (S) Abridged! To put that into perspective, if you lived in Canada and purchased the Medium Wash membership on that day 9 years ago and continued your subscription up to now, you will have paid $810 CAD for around 42 abridged anime episodes.

God i love ulquiorra in this hes so nonchalant and chill, "i do not want this this gift. Please return it." That line made me burst out in laughter.

Zangetsu yelling "He got killed!" is the best quote ever.

Ok, so one thing I absolutely love about this series is the comedic timing / delivery of the lines. Every line is not a milisecond too early or too late, and the intonations of the voice actors are always on point. My favourite example of this would be the bickering between Soi Fon and Ichigo, but every joke Ulquiorra's involved in is elevated to the next level by perfect delivery + timing. Never fails to make me laugh. Love this abridged to bits

So obsessed with the fact that Ulquiorra is so nonchalant and takes things quite literally

I gotta say. The running gag of everything in Ichigo's soul being made of building is great every time XD

"I like the way you're terrified of me. We're gonna get along." The most perfectly in-character for Grimmjow.

I so appreciate how dedicated your approach to the series is to the essence of the characters, plot, and dynamics while maintaining your interpretation and delightful humor and serious notes throughout. Somehow, Ulqirrora making an apathetic moan of pain when being thrown through the pillar was far more emotive than anything he actually did in the show/manga.😅

The clash of in-lore and meta jokes is wonderful. Almost as wonderful as Grimmjaw ignoring the open door and still proceeding to break the wall down to enter Orihime's room.

Ulquiora revealing he was rank 4 was so big when i was watching it. You guys really kept up with the intensity of it!!

Real shit i didnt think I'd get into another abridged series since dbza and hellsing abridged ended. This is so well done and the quality is exemplary.
