For those wondering on stream Leo said he is going to be playing a lot more Marth because his set against void inspired him since as we all know sheik isn’t exactly the best but seeing how void was still playing her just cause that’s his character Leo felt inspired to play Marth again
That's exactly what I thought. Void's an amazing player who doesn't care much about the tier lists but rather the match ups to his character. I'm glad Sheik and Marth are getting recognition from amazing players.
I know Lucina is better overall, but I feel like Marth has much more potential than people give him credit for. He can definitely be stressful to play when you aren't landing at least 50% of your tippers or slightly mess up your spacing, but he's not bad by any means. While Lucina has more consistent results and doesn't have to worry about the same things you do when playing Marth, he's definitely hype to watch when he's played effectively
Mk leo and MewTwoKing already have a video together where they explain why marth is better than lucina. They explained that he has better damage output and combo potential as long as you can space using tippers to finish and sour spots to start combos.
Jake I agree, I’ve been using Marth since Ultimate was available. I feel you have to be good at spacing, reading, and spacing to really bring that potential. It’s going to be funny seeing more Marth from people soon
@@cooldes4593 See that's the issue though. Who on Earth aside from Leo could say I am so good at spacing I can get consistant tipper on stage AND while edge guarding?
Mark Chee It's a very good option,as it's essentially a better dash attack, and ftilt kills well when it tippers. The extra distance the slide gives from cancelling the pivot in addition to Marths already long range is a great combo.
This also applies to Lucina. Dash attack is too laggy while f-tilt does the same damage. Dash attack does do ,ore knock back though, so in some situations where you can get a guaranteed hit in, dash attack is better
Since the commentators asked: For Link's bomb recovery there are multiple ways to do it: -simple z drop: this will drop it in the direction link is facing which will therefore send him in the opposite direction when blown up (so, if you are facing the stage like Link91 was, you have to drop it then move forward THEN detonate it or you will get sent to the blastzone) -double jump then z drop: ( I think this is what Link91 did): when double jumping with the bomb there is a period when the bomb is on the opposite side to the direction link is facing. So if you detonate it during that period you get sent towards the stage, but I think Link91 just stuffed up the timing. There are two other less used methods too: -throwing the bomb down, quick falling while moving slightly forward and then detonating. Harder to do but can be used as a mixup if your opponent is pressuring you off stage -1 framing the zdrop: when pulling out the bomb there is a single frame at the start of the animation which will allow you to drop it while it's still above links head (rather than held out in front of him), if you buffer the z drop you won't get this frame so it's incredibly tight timing and incredibly hard to pull off. The advantage being that you can detonate the bomb quicker and don't need to move forward nearly as much, so it can be used when the other methods would take too long and cause you to fall to death (or can be used to surprise an opponent pressuring you, but again, it's super hard to pull off).
@@johnnycrash4892 Lmao, Roy's tipper fsmash which is considered very good is still weaker than Marth tipper fsmash, and this shit is like 10 frames start-up
@@agentglowstick8704 marth's sword (falchion) make him invincible and only dragons foes can damage him, but lets suppose that link bring a dragon in the fight, marth's sword is super effective against dragon and he can heal himself with it Tho i agree that Link has way more skills
Brenda Goncalves Do you have a link to where Falchion makes Marth invincible? Regardless, even if Marth can’t be damaged, he can still be transmutated into a slime, sealed in an alternate universe, or wished out of existence. Link is invincible too. With Nayru’s Love, Link is unable to take damage as long as he has magic, and with chateau Romani or the Triforce of Power, Link has an unlimited magic meter, so he remains invincible forever. There’s also magic armor which replaces all damage taken with rupee loss.
@@agentglowstick8704 i really like this conversation, no fight , good argumentation , as for falchion making marth invincible to non dragons attacks i don't know how to put a link on RU-vid but you can found it by searching falchion on the fire emblem wikia and going to the weapons stats There is also a pretty good Reddit post named "the true power of the shield of seals " that talks about marth's fire emblem. And since i'm a big zelda fan i can totally say that link is a way better fighter than marth.
Khalif Rouf he’s playing a lot more aggressively than an actual campy player, even against the best a campy player makes matches have very little action
I mean. The bomb was bouncing in front of marth in the bombing range, You should know its coming soon. That would be both reacting and reading I guess~~
1:45 Leo notices the roll in on the tech and then immediately reads and hard punishes the next one with a d-air into f-smash V clean and methodical play And then again at 2:31 lol
It's an amazing read. If you look at some earlier tech situations in game 1 you see it happening there too but Leo made sure to go for the kill confirm only when it counted and let Link get away with it at lower percents. So cool.
As a marth main, i loved seeing that dair to f smash connect, one of the most satisfying moves. Just in case the fellow marth mains didn't know (or this might be the oldest trick in the book) but if you are too far from the stage, holding shield breaker will launch right towards that bad boy
When I got Smash Ultimate back when it released, Marth was the character I wanted to put time in because he was just so enjoyable and satisfying. But i could find little success with him. Seeing this makes me so happy to be honest. It just is a beautiful sight and feeling
You just have to throw out less moves but make your moves count. Stay zoning on the ground. Marth has strong aerials but high landing lag so stay on the ground throwing out ftilts to bait out their air options then punish accordingly. Also learn to perfectly space out dancing blade ffdf for early kill confirms. As you can see from this match marth is good at racking up damage but really struggles to end stocks reliably. Hence why MK had to fall back on his best move which is ftilt.
@@DeadpoolX9 Thank you for the advice, seriously. I am going to be trying to put that into practice and learn to be more tactical with what moves I make.
@@xSilverWolfx15 truly the most tense moment is when the opponent is at a high percentage because then you're basically playing a game of figuring out which tipper move to use. Dont quote me on this but I think they nerfed the shit out of fair and fsmash tipper range but ftilt might actually have the largest tipper hitbox. SideB is just fast so that's why I recommended using it. Like I said before I think they nerfed his aerials or just fair So I just tend to throw our nairs as a keepout/approach tool then use ftilt on the ground. I've gotten pretty good at nairs so sometimes it's a kill confirm but like I said. You cant really kill with marth anymore. Also sideB gives you enough wiggle room to time a tipper. I also think they nerfed dair's spike range so you're better off countering active hitboxes or just ledge guarding. So basically you cant be as aggressive anymore. Dont be afraid to camp out and wait for them to approach you. I know how you feel because I was frustrated too. I got over it once I decided to just play keepaway on the ground. Uptilt is a really great anti air option as well. Yeah so tldr my advice is stay grounded and let them come to you.
Honestly was lowkey rooting for Link91. As cool as it is to see Mkleo play Marth, you gotta give Link91 props for putting up a fight against the best smash player in the world with his devotion to Link.
Bitch please! If Mkleo can't win with Marth, then Marth gets buffed. If Mkleo wins with Marth, then Marth is considered high or even top tier. It's a win-win situation. XD
You don't need to necessarily be facing any direction to use the bomb recovery, unless you are doing an instant detonation one, in which case you need to be facing away from the stage and you also would need to wait for the bomb to be at your hips, not over his head when he picks it out.
This man just camping like crazy as link. He literally dropped platform and used only projectiles for the first 15 seconds of the game, pegging arrows into Leo's shield...
@@SouL-RaZor Actually I already found out. It was actually a pivot cancel F-tilt. It looks like a dash attack because an F-tilt looks like one, and with the pivot cancel, you still have a forward momentum. It's a pretty complex move, and you have to have your c-stick set to tilt attacks. The animations end lag are slightly different between Marth dash attack and F-tilt.
No matter how cool Link is under pressure, no matter what his 24-hour job (or more like hobby? It's in the job description, I'm sure), this was a monster he sadly couldn't slay. I wonder if it'd have been different for Melee or Brawl...
As a marth main it makes me happy to see leo picking up marth again but from another point of view in sad cause all these sheeps are going to start picking him up
In actuality, landing tippers is just practice, saying marth is bad because you can’t land them is not to do with marth but you, yes he could use some tipper buffs but then there is no excuse, this character is a top tier.
Alfons Hedström Lol because everyone knows how strong it is. It’s just hard to space for it. That’s why you practice it, it’s not like Roy’s where you just spam side b.
It's funny because I just randomly started playing Marth a few days ago. One my friends was like "why Marth? there's only like 9 mains." 😂 Then funny enough MKleo decided to play him today, it's interesting
