Conor McGregor talks to UFC commentator Joe Rogan about his second round TKO victory over Chad Mendes in UFC 189. Rogan also speaks to Chad Mendes who gives his thoughts on accepting the fight on such short notice.
+Marios A. smh dude. you are supposed to sell the fight. You arent supposed to be humble and nice. Chad is so trash at trash talking I knew he didnt mean it either. He seems like a nice guy.
Bullshit, he was beat before the fight started, he prepared for this respect he would show him BEFORE the fight started, becauce ho knew he would lose, that's no champion, he will never be a champion with that attitude. That's the difference between McGregor and Mendes !!
Conor is always same to guys he defeated/was defeated from...watch interviews after fight you will see it,it is more his will to fight has cut down,he earned much money he doesnt care anymore for fight
@@creepymaster9584 even dropped from 177 to 155 what coincidence... at least khabib didn't retire mayb we can get Tony GSP or Conor rematch since I wanna see a clown getting beat again. Tony is all about respect this needs to happen. GSP would be a thing of honor to his father. I think GSP should happen so he accomplished what his father wannet. Then Tony, for the fans, this fight is cursed it needs to happen (is this gonna trigger ww3 lmao) THEN we can enjoy the clown Fiesta again. It would pleasure me.
Frankie Edgar If you are the real Edgar. You already admitted you want the cash on the last conference you did. Which is fine. I would do it too. A belt is not going to put food on the table but a 500k check will.
Beautiful moment of respect at the end. Great to see it when two athletes put their heart and soul on the line...nothing but respect eventually comes from it. One love.
@@gr7927 He often puts on a slightly artificial accent when talking in interviews and press conferences, I assume it's so that the American fans can understand him more easily.
The conor of 2021 is better than the conor of 2015. The problem is that he never checked those kicks from poirer. His new boxing stance is better than his old karate stance.
@@dandaniel8067 Have u not seen the adjustment he has made to his new stance. He now has a traditional boxing stance and he use to have a good karate stance. The karate stance was good for moving in and out against his opponents the only problem with the karate stance is that when he was up against the cage there was no where for him go and thats not a good stance for pocket fighting. The stance was also too wide which would have given room to alot of leg kicks and its hard to defend takedown with that stance. The last time he had that stance was against khabib and look where it led him it was hard for him to defend the takedown with his new stance he has a better chance. And if he continues with that karate stance he's gonna get beat up cause fighters are gonna figure him out. Conor is a precision and powerful striker he's able to gain more power to his shots with his left hand with that stance, its just he needs to check leg kicks and use his legs more often and he'll be OK
The good old days of conor McGregor, an amazing fighter who fought his heart out, inspired millions and was a true example of entertainment and martial arts. Sad to see where hes at now and the type of person hes become. This conor and conor today are 2 complete different people 😔
What an absolute class act Chad Mendes, huge respect to him. This might be my favorite UFC fight, I can’t help but shed a couple tears every time I watch this fight and the octagon interviews. The raw emotion and passion displayed by these warriors, and the support of Ireland, Conor’s family, is just so beautiful to see.
Calvin Klein He can fight when it matters most! He has a huge heart, and He was very humble in victory. He is the real deal. Now lets see him take on Jose!
Noneymouse, I can agree that he did show holes in his game but to say his skill level is at 20% is taking it a little too far. I think he showcased good and bad things. He showed that he can take a hell of a punch. He Showed that even when fighting a wrestler he will still be just as aggressive and confident as ever. And last but not least he showed that he is without a doubt one of the best, if not the best strikers in that division. I don't think I've ever seen someone outstrike Mendez the way he did, not even Aldo. But yes I don't know if he'll have the same luck with Edgar. I'm not sure what will happen if Conor can't get the knockout or even get from off of his back. I suppose all our questions will be answered eventually....
Really not the same?? The majority of the guys in the top 10 in FW are still active fighters, and aldo has beat them all. Let's see if Conor can do that. If he's able to pull it off I don't care, I he doesn't i don't care either. I just think his fans are delusional thinking he's the greatest whe he still hasn't fought the real champ, it's not his fault it didn't happen, but if it does , let's see how long he'll stay at the top. Also, just because Weismann beat silva, does that mean Silvia's opposition were nothing compared to weidmans???
When i use to be a fan of motocross i was at a race and on the podium all of the guys have monster cans. But the winner took a sip and under the can it said water in black sharpie. I never see it written anymore but i dont think there is always monster in there
delreydavid So that justifies you saying that the UFC is sponsored by Satan? I am Luciferian. That being said, I should get royalty checks for them using our logo. Oh wait. That's right. 666 is not the mark of the Beast. If you actually read your bible, you would know that it was written upside down. Hence, keep your religious bullshit out of shit that you have 0% knowledge of.
I’m so glad I got to watch the Mcgregor era…. He took over the UFC man, this guy went from nothing to worth over $200+ million dollars!!!! Absolutely the most successful MMA fighter to walk this planet
Conor talks a lot, but I think people were missing the fact that Chad had a chip on his shoulder as well, and he got humbled it seems. I'm glad this is over though. Mutual respect on both sides, and best of all I'm glad people that absolutely 100% doubted Conor have to accept that he's the real deal. Absolutely perfect fight card top to bottom.
ikantspelgud1 Some will never because they cant accept it. I even read some post saying fixed. These are the people who just read results of what happened and not even watched the fight. Idiots
Mr. Bosporos Chad said he is always in shape and claimed he was gonna make Conor gas with wrestling after the weight cut he had. You can't claim you're in shape, lose, then say you weren't in shape. That's not how it works. And I didn't say he was the BEST, I'm just saying he's the real deal. Obviously Aldo is the best because he's the champion, but do you seriously have to beat everyone to be considered "the real deal" ? Frankie lost to Aldo, and I still consider Frankie to be the real deal. Chad Mendes lost to both Aldo and McGregor, but I still consider him the real deal. You can have your doubts about Conor and see holes in his game, but he's now legit and proven. That's all there is to it. If Chad wasn't ready, he shouldn't have taken the fight.
Mr. Bosporos Indeed. I would. But I wouldn't make excuses and say I wasn't 100% if I was in a situation where I got beat by someone after I said he wasn't any good.
Mr. Bosporos This excuse that "chad didn't have a full camp" is invalid. Conor also had to prepare for a completely different fighter within 2 weeks. Max Holloway (A UFC top contender if you don't know) made a video saying no matter how many days Chad could've prepared for this fight, he would have still gassed out by all the body shots Conor was hitting him with. These excuses are invalid.
I was born in Spain, my family is from Spain, both my surnames are spanish but that night I was so proud of being Irish. Thank you Connor. Thank you Ireland.
I would really like to know what those bigger injuries were because looking at his physique, he is not as fit as he has been in previous fights, its like he has less muscle. Oh well, job well done McGregor! Conor really impressed me in this fight, what I learned from this fight is he has bucket loads of heart and determination.
There's a rumor about his MCL being torn. When the fight started I saw his stance was different but not in a good way. He was more up right putting less weight on his legs, he wasn't circling or bouncing like he normally does. He's known for his movement and he didn't show any of it in this fight. So there must be a reason.
Natalou It was as if he shot up to age 60 years old.. It wasn't the same McGregor... It's good to see you still had faith in him though. I actually believe he's way better than this, but it was still epic.. I was meaning to ask you your thoughts on it too.
This is what UFC should be about and this is what makes it great. Fantastic performance by both fighters and sportsmanship friendly conclusion, what a highlight in fight history
>He's a nobody, they said >He's never fought a top 10 guy, they said >He's "all talk", they said >He's never fought a top 5 guy. they said >He's just another Chael Sonnen, they said >He has no ground game, they said >He's never fought a wrestler, they said >Poirier will beat him, they said >Aldo will kill him, they said >Aldo's not afraid to fight, they said >Mendes will submit him, they said >He'll never be the champ, they said I wonder, what are they saying now?
I was rooting for Conor and laughing at Chad during the build up to the fight. But Chad took the loss like a true martial artist. The mutual respect between the two of them after the fight was really a nice moment. Full respect to a stand up guy!!
Okay okay... McGregor did well, but can we all just remember Chad took perhaps the biggest fight of his life on 2 weeks notice? Cmon, that deserves a lot of respect
Combat Sports Highlights chad does have everyones respect. fought fought his ass off. but the reality is mcgregor took his best shots with a smile on his face and chad couldnt handle mcgregors power. hed have got him sooner or later anyway. and dont forget sure chad was winning on points but he was hurt within the first minute or so with body shots that took his legs away from him, i felt it was only a matter of time
Combat Sports Highlights He knew for over 3 weeks that he would be the replacement if Aldo couldn't fight and he had to know all along that if Mcgregor or Aldo got injured it would either be him or Edgar that would have to step in as a replacement. How could he deny a fight of this magnitude? He knew he would get a lot of money (his nickname is money) and also had a chance for an interim belt, he would be stupid to turn this fight down.
Combat Sports Highlights Totally agree and respect to Chad, but neither of them were training for each other so what does it matter? Conor got blindsided by having to fight Chad too. And it's not like Chad was out of shape or anything.
Combat Sports Highlights How could I possible forget, everyone keeps banging on about it but thats not why he gassed, those kicks to the gut are why he gassed. I respect Chad for being gracious in defeat but I'm not surprised he took the fight, why the hell wouldn't he, if he wins he gets another titleshot but even if he loses he gets half a mill, his best ever payday.
Example of a good fight in all ways possible-tactics,style,competition and respect for each other, many current fighters lost this and that is very damn sad...SALUT FOR CONNOR AND CHAD!
I mean I wanted Mendes to win I do feel the fight was stopped a bit early but I knew Conor was gonna win by the way Mendes was fighting. I do like how they trash talked and at the end they show eachother respect for one another it was amazing. Aldo vs McGregor will be a better fight tho
this fight is legendary. opposite styles, chad fighting on short notice, conor fighting on one leg, both beating the fuck out of each other until one cant take it anymore. these dudes showed so much heart its unbelievable. (robbie and rory too)
People aren't giving conor enough credit for this fight and Mendes too much. Conor stopped Mendes from doing anything dangerous on the floor and when he did attempt a guillotine he just rolled out of it. Now, conor only just started to work on mendes standing up and destroyed him.
I wasn't the biggest fan of Chad, but after seeing his post fight speech, I honestly just *can't* hate him man. What a humble guy. Great sportsman he is.
Bobby Nixon Complete Idiot who didn't watch the fight... Mendes was defending himself and the fight was stopped 3 secs before the rd was over. Don't make cases you are unaware of and stick to watching FREE highlights on youtube.
Phantom77083 Defending himself? My god people like you are never convinced. He was in the fetal position, hands on his head, not moving, just eating shots. That's NOT defending yourself. Give the man his dues. Hate him if you wish, but he heard that victory.
Chad Mendes is a very humble and respectful guy. It's a shame some of his supporters aren't the same! McGregor won the fight fair and square, get over it!
Great to see that when it's all said and done, two men act like men and appreciate each other for the opportunity to have a great payday, give the fans a thrill and be a part of UFC history.
Happy for Conner but am also very impressed by the class and sportsmanship shown by Chad. I've been a fan of both guys for a while and am happy they showed so much class after it was over. Well done to both fighters.
What a gentleman chad is, hats off to him man for showing nothing but respect and appreciation for the sport and Connor after losing. Such a class act ✊🏼.
Awesome Finish by McGregor, he backs up the Talk.....Credit to Mendes for his compliments to not just McGregor but to the Greatest Fans in the World, The Irish....Thanks Chad, Class Act and a great Fighter....
Definitely not a Mcgreggor fan, but I can appreciate him being emotional in his interview and even after the fight. Chad is a beast of a wrestler, perhaps the best wrestler in the division, and whether or not Chad gassed out because of only 2 weeks training camp or due to Connors leg kicks , he got the win. He passed the test. Chad also took the risk of only 2 weeks training camp, he knew the pros and cons, no excuses, though I believe if he had more time it would have been a longer fight. Cant wait for Aldo vs Mcgreggor, thats the real fight everyone wants to see, and may the best man win! =)
this is the conor i liked from the start, he was always about taking over and to see a guy from ireland step in it was fresh and new, a celtic warrior, but the conor now is all about the money, money this money that
Camelworks Dana White didn't bet anything. Conor tried to bet 3.2 million on himself to win by TKO within the first 2 rounds but Dana refused because that's obviously a big conflict of interest.
I hope we get to see this McGregor once again in the octagon. He was hungry to make it and it showed in his speech and his movements. He is a made man now so lets see if he still has that fire
Loyal to her not because I can’t live without her but simply because I appreciate everything she has done for me and it’s not a bad pain it’s just frustrating but it’s part of the process this was the mess I made I’ll get through this and come out on top. Appreciate everyone that supports and helps me through this whole journey. It’s hard maintaining balance I couldn’t imagine doing this without the help of all of you. You all are the real champions and at times my emotions might make you question that and I’m sorry 🙏🏻 god bless
Yeahhh My boy Conor pulled through, I may not be Irish and I may think some of his fans can get a bit annoying but U cant help but appreciate the excitement he's brought to the sport at a time where it desperately needs it. After GSP's retirement, Silva's failed drug test and the amazing Jon Jones being stripped UFC lost a lot of its WOW factor which is why its so great to see McGregor restoring new life into the UFC.
What a night I remember when I finish watching fighting the UFC I knew then he was gonna be something very special and I’ve been a fan the whole way along but I hope your most famous days are yet to come
