in his interview with Shannon Sharpe, Dana said he wants Tom to face the winner of Jones vs Stipe. I'm assuming that would apply to Blaydes as well if he wins. I think its very unlikely that the Interim Champion won't be next for the winner of Jones vs Stipe. The only reason Tom is defending his Interim belt is to stay active until Jones returns and fights Stipe. After Jones vs Stipe happens, there will be a HW Champion and a HW Interim Champion who fought recently, the story writes itself, it creates a massive HW Unification bout. With Jones vs Stipe likely happening in November, the Unification with the Interim would likely occur many months later, potentially International Fight Week in 2025 if they want it on a special event. Otherwise it could occur in the first quarter of 2025. That would mean Alex would have to stay active if he wants to face the winner of the Unification in the summer or autumn of 2025. He's fighting this weekend in June of 2024, its very unlikely that he could sit for an entire year or longer waiting for the Unified HW Champion. After 300 every youtubers next fight to make for Alex was Ankalaev. He is the contender, and the most interesting matchup for Alex in his division. Alex claimed Magomeds callout of 6 months was too distant and they made this uncalled for rematch with Jiri. Magomed is definitely his most hyped matchup. People who greatly desire for Alex to hold onto his belt and eventually move up will say anything to avoid it, but that is what makes the matchup so big, everybody is aware it is the hardest challenge for Alex and there will be real anticipation for the bout. Its the same as Oliveira vs Makhachev. Many people tried to denounce it out of fear of Charles losing, but that is what made the bout so interesting. The real fights between the best in the divisions with real rivalry and fan emotion at stake create the biggest fights.
