mr van clief to me DEFINES respect.....no one had ever stepped up especially at that age, reading the comments i had no idea about his ankle. i just wish back then they had set up the first fight to see him against a striker.

this guy is a bad dude.i have been in the martial arts community in n.y. for 30 years and this guy had rep for being a no nonsense type of guy in the ring or on the streets.i heard alot of stories about this guy kicking ass on the streets of n.y.,especially in the lower east side of manhattan.

Well, I guess he got that one right. UFC 100 was great to watch!

@boxing404 Yeah, I had the pleasure of meeting him back in the day. At 67, the man is like Jack Lalane for martial arts. As a karate man and aspiring fitness professional, I have a lot to learn from him. I heard when he fought Gracie he broke his ankle a week before, but no way that was stopping him.

This mans thinking an ablities were years ahead of its time. Everything he said would happen has happened for UFC. Its Pratically the biggest sport if not taking over the sports world.
