Why is it on every video that someone makes that doesn't paint a glorious, tourist-catalog-ready African nation, people get up in arms and begin to insult that person. These videos are made as warnings for people who may romanticize what they expect and get hit with hard truths. She ( and videos like hers) is letting people know how they may be disappointed, where the pitfalls in their preparation may be. Everyone isn't going to be an entrepreneur. She's speaking to those who think that just like you can move from wherever to the US or Europe and "make it," it doesn't necessarily work in the reverse. I really don't understand the "I'm offended." "Stay where you are" "Africa don't need you" really short sighted, unhelpful comments. We need to do better.

Hahaha! Imagine if social media existed during slavery days or Jim Crow, how many Americans would rather go to Ghana over being lynched to death in America... STOP COMPARING GHANA TO AMERICA. America is a white man's country, they literally traveled thousands of miles to captures and enslave black people for 400yrs to build America to where it is today, they also stole trillions from Africa to ensure the system is where it is today in America... Also America owes 29trillion dollars in external debt and all the facilities in America are based on credit. African countries have no access to credit, the world bank and IMF starve Africa of developmental funds!!! Africa & Ghana is what it is today because of America & Europe... So, no need to be a traitor! You have to understand that it's your job as black people to uplift the countries in Africa. Take money from European countries & go and build Africa. America is not your home & it will never be!!!

I have watched a lot of videos about Ghana 🇬🇭 trying to determine what’s its really like living there. I just felt my vacation visit didn’t give me an accurate live there feeling. All the African American ex pats paint this rosy picture, but my instincts tell me that is not the whole truth. You are the first and only person that has been honest with me! Thank you. ♥️
@MamaDee737
@MamaDee737 4 года назад
The expats paint a rosy picture because they need more AA to help them survive. They will not tell you that you are considered a competing tribe there and basically on your own. Gabby gives an extremely accurate picture of the issues there. Its a wonderful place to visit and connect with your roots.
@finn3102
@finn3102 4 года назад
@@MamaDee737 That is what I have always felt. The majority of African American expats in Ghana and elsewhere in Africa don't want to go it alone on the continent. Hence they paint a rosy picture of life in Africa, with no mention of the challenges, such as infrastructure. While simultaneously pushing hella hard to convince as many AAs as possible to relocate to the continent. As you mention they are likely to find that they are a competing tribe, on their own. Most diasporans have no idea about the importance of tribe/s in Africa. It is the cornerstone of identity & sense of belonging for black Africans. A lot of bad things come with tribalism, like nepotism.

You got to see the so call truth in it's proper context. These are socio-political-geo issues that are pretty common across the developing world. She should lay down a proper foundation for her argument an then point out the issues. Then list the improvement done and what can be done. For the lesser mind she is telling the "truth" whatever that is. To the intelligent mind she is at being childish at best and at worst very ignorant.

At the moment I’m caught up in lockdown in Europe just waiting to see what new travel rules will be before going back to Ghana 🇬🇭. Your assessment is honest and I really appreciate it. Some people shy away from the truth and facts because they don’t spit out the dark side of the country to the outside world but the truth must be told. Stay blessed.

The internet thing was like wow. That's how I felt when I was there for a visit. I spent a lot of money on data. When I got back to Canada and connected to my WiFi I had a big moment of sigh. Until internet infrastructure is improved I doubt myself moving there personally. That's my only pet peeve. Not the biggest issue or most important issue to face in Ghana but having unlimited reliable internet is important to me .

Maybe you can start a company to improve it. Why would you wait for it to be improved before you can come along and enjoy it. I thought this will spin some business ideas from you since you have the resources.

Hi, I've been dealing with Ghana since 1994, the best thing to do is go for a while, not 2 weeks but maybe 6 months to 1 year! I would suggest waiting till then to make major purchases! I saw your first video, I have experience all of them! You have to be strong to deal with these type of things!

Thank you for the precautionary advices! Have been honing in on trying to live in Ghana for a few months, and if me likey, try seasonal (winter north Europe). The advices in this and pt1 are the most comprehensive ones I've seen so far, and I really appreciate it that you alert for the bumps/pits one can stumble over. I am now even less deterred, Ghana looks like the place I should be 🕵️‍♂️

I have found both of your video's helpful. I am American and have been fortunate enough to visit several countries in Africa. I have not been to Ghana, but I would love to see it one day. There are two things that you did not mention that I would like to hear your perspective on....the weather (year round) and the crime rate. Thanks so much for any information you can share on these two topics.

Gee Adjoa Adowa . What about health care. Sounds like you’re gonna need millionaire status $$$ and a private jet on standby to be flown to the nearest European hospital in case of a medical emergency,like the president’s and high level politicians do. Cuba is considered a 3rd world country with 1st class health care. Greed and Corruption, poor leadership ,the affliction of African peoples peoples all over the world.

Thanks for been real. I’m an American and lived in South Africa for 23yrs and all ten points that you have mentioned on these two video are the same in South Africa. Ones you get use to it life is awesome in Africa. But when you go back to America we get spoil with the easy lifestyle of America. But Africa is a jewel and I’m glad and thank God for giving me the privilege to be part of it. Africa is a special place. Thank you for sharing.
