The fact that there is already an excessive amount of demand awaiting its absorption, despite how everyone is frightened and calling the crash, is another reason why it is less likely to occur that way. 2008 saw no one, at least not the broad public, making this forecast, as I'll explain below. The ownership rate was noted to have peaked in 2004 in the other comment. Having previously peaked in the second quarter of 2020, we are currently at the median level. Between 2008 and 2012, it dropped by 3%, and by the second quarter of 2020, it had dropped from 68 to 65.

I'm sorry, but it's hard to work 60 hours a week and make the decision to put off having a dog (which I would so dearly love to do) and having kids because all I can afford is a 1 bedroom, just to see other people get it all handed to them with my tax money. Let's break down some costs:rent £1100, council tax £150, Energy Bills:£200, food £300, mobile phone £15 - grant total £1615. This is a conservative estimate so you need a salary of £27k. While forgoing these may not give her all the money she needs the fact she is spending on them while on the brink of homelessness suggests to me she's not exactly being careful with the money she does have, at least based on what this clip shows.

There are key lessons to take away from this: 1) Choose your partner using reasonable criteria before having one or more babies, not because of butterflies. Get commitment first and treat and respect your partner. There is a reason why families made up of older and wiser individuals used to be active in the selection process of an appropriate husband as well as guaranteeing that the bride was raised properly and well-behaved. Some might not like this type of guidance but the alternative is broken homes and broken single moms and therefore broken children too. 2) Don't "follow your passion" with a personal trainer job, if you're the sole provider for your kids you need to go for something that's well-paid and stable, your feelings come second at that point. 3) If you're on your own, always keep enough cash in hand before getting comfortable with personal spending and if you can't use a credit card and pay it off every month to at least have access to credit if needed 4) If you get a council house that fast and at everyone else's expense, be grateful, like VERY grateful. The fact that she was picky about the couch or the location of the accommodation is already a red flag that she struggles with entitlement, which likely affected her relationships too. 5) Nothing will change until it becomes less socially acceptable to willingly make so many bad choices which also harm the kids. Shame is a good thing, we need more of that. Because social stigma it is a deterrent for bad behavior, as opposed to giving sympathy, and attention, and subsidizing the behavior to shelter the person from the consequences of their actions.

The homelessness among the working is on the rise as well, which means even in working families they can't even afford to rent out a property. That's an issue with the housing market and the fact that the Rich Tycoons and Government Officials who invest their wealth into the property market make a fortune while raising housing prices whenever they feel like it with no real care about people who just want a house to live in. This government has been failing us for many years now and it's really time people voted out the Tories and Labour so we can maybe have a fresh perspective rather than ones that only care about themselves.

@MaterLacrymarum
@MaterLacrymarum Год назад
There's a lot to ponder here. How did she end up with two children and no partner? After the first, how did she get pregnant again? Then there is the idealistic thinking (I need at least two bedrooms) as though she is owed not simply accommodation, but ideal accommodation. And finally, when she was offered as place, she turned it down and moved to a different county. Then we have the underlying issues of expectation. Back in the 1950's and 1960's, it was common to live in social housing. You rented from the Council and were good to go. There was lots of stock, and you could pick and choose. In 2023, people still think this is the case. It's not. Thatcher's Right to Buy decimated social housing. In short, there are not enough properties out there. If you're going to the Council, you can't expect much these days, and don't expect to be able to pick and choose. As for private renting, it's a disgrace and is poorly regulated. From no-fault evictions to a complete lack of rent controls and onward to often poor maintenance, private renting is actually the worst kind for tenants. We need new laws put in place. A complicated set of circumstances set off, largely, by the lady here having not one, but two children without a family foundation. She no doubt loves her kids, but she's clearly not able to take care of them, she really needed to think about the consequences before she arrived here. On the other hand, the system is not in her favor.

It'd be really nice if everybody on Earth could have a guaranteed roof over their head. The amount of people who kill themselves because they can't afford to live anymore-- not because they're fundamentally unhappy, psychologically unstable people, but because they're stressed about very basic finances and survival issues-- must be a shocking, scandalous figure. Basic good quality, reasonably spacious housing designed by emotionally intelligent architects who care about humanities mental health in general should be available to all humans. I'm not talking about grotesque Soviet style communism with inhumane tower blocks of pokey little flats and I'm not talking about breeding entitlement and laziness in people, but there has got to be a better way for humans to organise their societies and build a civilisation...

Dawn is a single mother in need of help. Is this a virgin birth? Is there no father in the picture? Why did she act irresponsibly and have a baby without marriage and with the same casualness that she paints her nails when rent is due? Some people inherit. I inherited - yes, I'm an inheritor - of my father's teachings. Do not play the lottery. Do not waste money. Do not have children until you are married. I inherited a sense of right and wrong. Too bad Dawn had no inheritance like mine. When I had a job, I saved money and invested as my boss advised. I lived within my means. I paid my rent on time all the time. When I was laid off, I had a large "inheritance" of my own savings. No out of wedlock children. No wasting money on buying things instead of paying rent. No crying I need a helping hand! I don't need a helping hand because I helped myself.

@elizabethhalasz361 Yes, in Germany you can basically steal properties. Eviction thieves can take years. Phynne conveniently forgets to mention this results in much high rents for Germans (to cover costs of theft through rent arrears) and people who are so deep in debt from stealing properties that they can never live a normal life again. Sure you can easily steal something like € 50K living in various stolen housing in Germany, but that debt doesn't go away. It can't be collected as long as you're scrounging benefits and protected by minimum wealth laws that protect from seizure BUT if you ever decided to start living, you get a job and you try to become financially stable it does become collectable. So the soft German system can create people forever condemned to be on benefits because their debts make it so that there's no point to working. No to mention the damages to smaller scale landlords who can be made bankrupt and lose their life savings to a single stealing tenant. Early and quick evictions are more humanitarian in the long run.

They can serve as a reminder of how fragile life is and they can also give you the strength you didn't know you had. These are just some of the reasons why it's not easy. When people say they love their pet as if he's their child, it's almost quite literal in the sense. It's not easy. We should praise her for giving her dog to her friends to look after for her. It's the best thing she could have done besides giving her up for adoption. It's not an easy choice. When she gets back on her feet she can take her back in.

It's a trap though, sadly. They offer 'free housing' but it's usually riddled with damp, really low quality dumps that slumlords rent to the council. What she got was actually super nice, and only because the baby was so young. Once that kid is 2 or 3, she'll end up in a really nasty house that's a health hazard. Kids actually die here from mold exposure, it's that bad. The trap part is that once you're in the system, you can't work your way out. So she'd have to work full time but she'd lose all of her benefits, and in the end she'd make only a tiny amount more working full time than not working at all. This forces them to stay impoverished forever, living on scraps of welfare in moldy houses. At least in America, where it's 'sink or swim', a lot of people actually somehow swim. They have no choice. In the UK, it's "sink or barely float with your head above the water for the rest of your life". They'll throw you a lifesaver, but you'll never get out of the sea. The taxation system punishes you so harshly for working, and with kids it pays "more" to let the government impoverish you than it does to work your way up. She'll never own anything now that she's trapped with kids. Even people with no kids struggle to get out of the system, let alone having 2.
