Good news!!! As of 28 Jan, the Malaysian Police HQ, Bukit Aman, had taken up your case & launched internal investigation after your video became viral. Crime doesnt pay after all. It was good tat u switched on ur recorder all the time & caught tat bad incidence as well. Stay safe n hav fun guys

Never pay any money or summons to on-site policemen. All summons must be paid to the police station OR nowadays, you can pay through online. Even if you pay early at the police station, you can get a discount. You are not supposed to pay RM300. That policeman is literally asking for a bribe. He should not ask for any money! I am so sorry you need to go through that situation! Such a disgrace Policeman... [context] Our LAW does not permit any policeman to take money from any summons they issued... And that policeman does not issue any paper!! That means he is asking for a bribe in broad daylight!! Summons must come with paper. Then they need to bring the paper to the police station (for an early payment discount) OR as I said, they can pay it ONLINE. No policeman can receive any cash or money from the summons they issued.

As a Malaysian, we are so sorry for the cheap attitude by the police

As Malaysian, I"ll advice you please go to the nearest police station & lodge a report regarding those incident. Any speeding summons or any traffic offends should pay online or authority offices. I suggest show this video to officer incharge. If im not wrong, the police already started their investigation.

I am local Malaysian. So sorry to say the money you pay to him directly will go into this police own pocket. If you have time, you can go police station to reveal his face and what this policeman has done, hopefully will file a case of corruption to him. Let's imagine, this policeman has 20 cases of RM100 in his own pocket, he easily earn RM2000 per day. So ashamed to these police!

That spot coming down at simpang pulai to ipoh is a favourite for corrupt policemen. Because it is downhill, obviously most people will let the car to move downhill. They found a sweet spot there.

This is very common in malaysia. Same thing happend to me, As a singaporean i remember i the police Officer were asking 50RM when i was travelling to ipoh from singapore back in 2016

They saw the foreign number plate and thought oh yes easy cash , no license or insurance check , no receipt for the payment , crazy .

As Malaysian, I'll let you all know that not only traffics police are corrupt like that, many more of those men in uniforms are corrupt like that. Lorry / truck drivers are their main targets. Some of those drivers have to save some of their salary for occasions like this. One lorry driver told me that almost 1/4 of his salary will be given to those men in uniforms in a month in a series of stops like this. THEY will threat to give summons to the lorry driver with multiple road/vehicle offenses or THEY clear all of those simply with just hundreds of MYR. Sometime THEY came alone. Sometime THEY will come in a group of 3-4 people in THEIR OFFICIAL SUV. (Sometime with their superior : sergeant of higher) This is sad, really.

The lorry that flash frantically is to warn you that there are traffic police or speed cameras operating nearby. Stick to your speed limit and if you are 100% sure you didn't drive past the speed limit, stand your ground and don't be intimidated by the traffic police. They will eventually give up because they do not have the evidence.

I dont think you pay the actual summon. The RM100 u paid him is somewhat a 'bribe" or 'coffee money'! In practice, there's no such thing as paying cash on-the-road/on-site. The norm of paying traffic fine is either go direct to Traffic Police station or pay online. This kind of things do happen here and always becareful when driving and monitor your speed.

Thank you for posting it. You did it right by posting it. We Malaysian HATE coffee money police. I admit there's always 2 side in a story but doing a wrong thing in a uniform is just shameful. It is a bribe. By seeing he even radio-ing to his friend means they have been doing it a lot of time.

Typically they want quick cash, we call those 'Coffee Money'. Sorry to say that those are the most unprofessional practices from them. They could say anything they want and you ended up with RM100 bribery or RM300 'unreasonable' summon. :(

If the police said they're going to issue a speeding ticket just take the ticket, you don't have to go to the police station, you can pay it online later.
