Hello Jonathan and ATP team. Interesting a total 111 Mirage 2000-5 were produced. The Eurofighter 600 airframes produced - still in production in 2023. Eurofighter has a belly intake just like F 16. But if Kier starmer and Scholz could agree to keep the pipeline open until the new European fighter is ready it might be helpful militarily to Ukraine and economically beneficial to Europe. Wonder if it means that F 16 V will not be approved off the production lines by joe Biden going forward. Cheers

Hello Jonathan and ATP team the 59 M1A1SA is an upgrade with 2nd generation thermal imaging sights, remote thermal sights on the commander s station. These are close to M1A2 standard and it is not likely, that Comrade Anthony Blinken will approve this. There is NOTHING made in Australia on those machines. My apologies to any offended Australians. I think Nebraska has 3 congressional districts and the electoral votes towards the electoral college are allocated per voting in these congressional districts, plus the overall vote in the state (similar to Maine). So, it's not related to the Senate seats, which are a statewide election. The issue is that Republicans in Nebraska (who are in the majority in the state house and senate have decided this late in the electoral cycle to do away with the existing methodology and simply allocate all votes in the electoral college on the statewide vote. Nebraska's 2nd district, based largely around Omaha, leans Democrat and therefore Nebraska would be expected to return one Dem vote towards the electoral college, with the remainder going to the Republicans. This is a typical dirty Republican trick aimed at favouring Trump in the electoral college. Before, Republicans have held off on this tactic due to the threat of Democrats retaliating with the same tactic in Maine. Maine's 2nd congressional district is Republican, guaranteeing one electoral college vote from Maine, however the state as a whole is Democrat. Republicans in Nebraska have timed this deliberately at a time when the Maine house and senate are not in session, so cannot pass this retaliatory amendment. Even if they reconvene an emergency session, such an amendment takes 3 months to come into effect, per Maine's constitution. It is the ultimate in bad faith and skullduggery, but with Republicans you expect nothing less. The reason why this is so important in the map to 270 electoral college votes (to gain a majority out of 538), is that there are several scenarios in which Nebraska's 2nd district is the deciding vote. For example, if the Dems hold the blue wall states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, but lose the sunbelt states of Arizona, Nevada and Georgia (which is entirely plausible, given that polling is on a knife's edge in these states) AND all the Nebraskan electoral college votes go to the Republicans, the Electoral college is tied at 269 each. In which case, the Presidential election is decided by the statewide congressional majorities. This is currently 27-23 in the Republicans' favour, meaning that Trump would win the election. It's such a Machiavellian manouvre and is a big reason why North Carolina is now becoming an increasingly pivotal state. Sorry to go down this American political rabbit hole and I'm sure some of our friends across the pond could explain this more succinctly. Marc Elias' Democracy Docket provides a great explainer of this exact scenario. But for all of us here rooting for Ukraine, I do think an awareness of this is important.

There is obscurity in the details of the loan. In the original Janet Yellen version the 50 billion dollars loan was supposed to be floated in the market in the form of bonds guaranteed by interest on frozen Russian assets, however abandoned as it was unclear what will happen if the frozen assets will be unfrozen thus generating no interest. In the second version the US was supposed to come up with 20 billion, however the US was reluctant to commit due to their request that the EU makes some decisions on the frozen Russian assets, decisions on hold due to Hungary's opposition. Under these circumstances the EU decided to go alone providing the money from the EU countries, however the initial question what will happen if the assets will be unfrozen thus generating no interest remains.

I'm glad you know what you are talking about when it comes to reporting. I watched a new youtube channel this week giving an update on the war and they go "Ukraine will be receiving 2000 Mirage fighter jets by the end of the year". Yeah right, that would be really nice but lets be realistic, France only has 24 in total in their airforce so 2000 of them is just a figure pulled out of this new youtubers posterior and poor documenting considering the mirage is called the mirage-2000. I know mirage stands for optical illusion. That guy needs to wash his eyes out, he saw thousands of them and they didn't even exist.

All the provisos surrounding compexity of support/maintenance etc not withstanding, NATO partners have recently been landing typhoons on paved roads in European exercises. That suggests the interesting possibility of Gripen like distributed deployment, at least in some limited form. Maybe requiring pre-staged entourages of complex support equiptment, disguised in motorway laybys, rather than a bunch of stockholm school leavers with allen keys, but it's interesting that they are experimenting.
