Just noticed the amended description. I guess that's the end of DIY LED lighting, big business wins again. I went all in on V1 QB288's that I was able to get for $30. Mopped up a bunch of QB120 and QB96, but it looks like those are no more. Now that I'm driving high PPFDs, it seems like strip lights would prevent the high/low areas you get running QB close to canopy. You going to keep running the channel?

@kkrollingskkrollings3173
@kkrollingskkrollings3173 3 года назад
I have done a couple builds with led strips just using 2 sided thermal tape and a old aluminum sign cleaned up as the heatsink. Most i have ran the builds was 1050MA on a meanwell driver but the aluminum signs that were aprox 2.5mm thick did quite well keeping the strips cool, i could have ran the strips easy 1400ma and still be a acceptable temp. The aluminium sheet or old sign if big enoughf is a great option if someone looking to save a few dollars.

@@GreengenesGardenOfficial the strips im referring to are bridgelux eb strips gen 3 and Samsung f series strips from builds i did a couple years ago now. I don't see a reason this would not work for any strips including the photo boost strips. I know the heatsinks extrusion strips would be better rated to deal with heat as well as look a little nicer.

what if i have a 4x4 tent with high reflective walls and want around 800 par through what setup can i use. how many strips the rest is all common sense. if only someone tested just a single strip then i would have calculated it myself
@hancle8915
@hancle8915 4 года назад
What you need to figure out is the wattage needed to reach your goal of 800 PPFD. By calculations it should be at around 500W but that's board level, so better go a little higher, probably 15-20% more. So you'd end up with 580-600W of light you'd need for an even distribution of light in your space. At that point, you can basically do exactly what Gene builds here. You could probably scrape a few bucks by buying 14 instead of 16 strips but that would hardly be worth it.

Just so you know. The build list for the 8 bar build recommends the wrong 1/2” imperial hex bolts if you are using 10 series as your heat sinks. The bolt heads are too big to fit both bolts to the corner brackets. Be sure to order 1/2” bolts from the compatible mounting hardware list that tnutz provides on the corner brackets page. I found out the hard way. I’m referring to the build list currently on the website also, not the one in the description of this video.

Hi my friend!! Very very nice DIY Led built!!!! I love it, Very easy to built, very nice desing, very eficient, and big beast!! well done!! For curiosity at how many mAh works each led with this setup??? i now that the lm301b datasheet say the maximum for each led lm301b is 200mAh but i. sure that work each led at his maximum 200mAh is not good for long live led. Thanks a lot my friend!! and sorry about my english.

Under 120ma per 301b. Samsung has shown us data at 400ma doing just fine at many thousands of hours of testing. They are very strong and and reliable leds.

Under 120mA is very very good for long long life. Uaaauu the data 400mA that they show you is the double than they say in the datasheet, they tell you why they put in the datasheet that the absolute maximum rating work is just 200mA and 300mA just 10 pulse of 10ms?????
