I'd put a tiny piece of rubber between the button and the micro switch, I'm thinking that way you'd hopefully get the nice satisfying click without the harsh click of plastic to plastic contact.
They're harder to click, yes, but after a few hours of play time they'll be worn in pretty well...that would be a good time to inset the rubber. You could salvage some good rubber shit from any old tv remote. I'd think that would work quite well!
What i meant was the rubber would make it even harder tu push down as it will dampen part of the force you'll be applying. It's just gonna tire your fingers quicker. Not worth the trouble in my opinion, unless you don't want your kids to spend too much time on it.;)
@@TheSliderW You're right in what you're saying. The buttons didn't need to be changed.. it's only made it loud and annoying. The OG GBA is the best.. the micro is for hipsters with girl hands to take photos for IG. The SP is great but after 20 mins your hands start to hurt. The OG GBA is ergonomic which allows you to play for hours without cramping. (RPG guys will understand) All you need is a front light, glass screen and a rechargable battery charger with batteries. (No need to mod in a rechargable battey)

I did this mod ages ago when one of the original shoulder buttons failed. I was disappointed when the buttons arrived as the clicked instead of that soft touch like the originals. But when I fitted them it felt so much more responsive. Little did I know back then that this would be classed as a “mod”. I’m so glad I did this way back along before videos of it started appearing on here.

I love modding Nintendo handhelds. I managed to find a new platinum edition gba on ebay and I modded it with a couple of things. I was lucky to get a 32 pin version as these are easier to mod. I used a new ags 101 screen with a 5 level switch brightness cable. I also put GBAmp inside to increase the sound volume. I kept the plastic screen because with a glass screen, sometimes the adhesive strip doesn't stick enough and the screen lifts up from the console. And with that, I have an awesome GBA. The shoulder buttons on the gba and even from other handhelds of today are not the greatest. Some or more tactile than others. This looks like a great mod. I can't wait for next part.
Very cool project. GBA is such a nice system. My eyes are getting worse as I get older so I tend to prefer the models with larger screens nowadays. Looking forwards for the next video in the series.

Yay. New videos. I've also got a suggestion for you: Do something about the noisy headphone jack output. There are a few things you could do. One is to completely replace the original amp and another option is... Something else I unfortunately forgot. You have to put in a capacitor somewhere.
