@@keayana I had to trade it in a few months ago for a SUV. I can say within that time I put over 100k miles on it (I traveled a lot). I had no i problems. Purchased 1 set of tires & a few oil changes. The ONLY reason I traded it in was because I didn’t need 2 car notes and the dealer offered me what I owed. But overall I loved it. Personally I didn’t have any issues.

You know I’ve been researching on the Altima SR. It’s crazy how much better they’ve gotten over the years. I remember trying to get the redesigned Altima from like 2016. Thank goodness I waited. The Altima looks sharp, but I can’t overlook the accord. I didn’t know that’s how close they are as far as everything including performance and practicality. But thanks to this particular video, it narrows down in my case, what car I will go for.
@archibaldvonfookface7364

I owned Altimas for the past 8 years and just bought an 18 Accord. I have to say the Accord is a much, much better car. It rides better, accelerates better, and let's not forget that the Altima's interior looks like it ripped of the Accord's. I've driven every Altima model up to 2016 and I can say Nissan simply cant do interiors. The Accord interior has plenty of nice little touches. If you move the the temperature knobs, they change colors based on the temperature you choose. It turns red if you make it hotter and blue if you make it cooler. If you pay a little more for an EX, you get a sunroof, remote start, two heated seats, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross traffic alert. My biggest regret for buying an Accord instead of an Altima is that I didn't buy an Accord sooner.
@Bman893
@Bman893 5 лет назад
Fun little fact actually all the accords come with remote start the only difference being if you have a LX or sport you have to just program an ex key to it in the remote start works

Can I ask what trims of the Altima you've been driving? I'm genuinely asking, because I have a 2013 Altima SL (and I love it!) and I can't decide with which one I want to go now. The highest trim of the Altima is really different than the lower ones but I'm still not sure about the Accord.
@archibaldvonfookface7364
@archibaldvonfookface7364 5 лет назад
@@hglrku098 I had the SV but I've looked at several trims in the new Altima. I would highly recommend the Accord tho. It costs around the same an Altima and IMO the Accord is better built. The new Altima has a lot of cost cutting in it. Some of the materials are cheap and we dont get full LED head or tail lights. The Accord has full LED in front and back, every single model gets Honda Sensing (Honda version of pro pilot assist), and they're faster and more Fuel efficient. The Accord feels like a premium car and it looks and feels more expensive than it actually is. You can get a Sport or higher to get Apple Car play. But if you want a good mixture of amenities at a good price, the EX is great! You get sunroof, two heated seats, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and more!
@EOtekk
@EOtekk 5 лет назад
The Altima may have ripped the interior from the Accord, but the Accord did the same thing by copying Mazda, so your point there is invalid. The exterior styling of the Accord is very old and frumpy, not attractive at all. Nissan stepped up big time because the last gen Altima was bland. I get Lexus vibes from the 2019.

I actually prefer the Accord taillights over the Altima taillights. The Accord's main taillights are cleaner than the Altima's due to the use of LEDs whereas the Altima uses an incandescent bulb for the main taillights when the main taillights have a sideways v shape, and incandescent bulbs do not match well with non-circular or eliptical sections.

If you live in a northern climate the Altima AWD makes sense and gives it a significant advantage over the Accord or any other non AWD sedan. The reason a lot of consumers are moving towards crossovers is among other things having AWD as an option. But if that's not a factor in your buying decision it really comes down to personal preference and which resonates most with you since arguably they are both top notch sedans. I like the styling of the 2019 Altima more than the Accord and knowing the 2019 Altima would be an improvement over my 2018 Altima (which I'm very happy with) in virtually all aspects the choice for me is obvious.

It is a fair comparison with the Accord 'Sport' trim and the Altima 'SR' trim, but when you move up the trim levels, the Altima beats the Accord. The Platinum trim on the Altima offers an All-Around Camera system, but none of the Hondas offer that. Honda still only offers a basic back up camera. The SV and Platinum Altima offers the 9-speaker Bose Audio system, yet Honda has no such premium audio option. Honda's 450-watt 'upgrade' pales in comparison as far as sound quality because their external amp heavily alters the sound with bad equalization. It is surprising that Honda's radar sensor for the safety features is completely exposed at the bottom of the grille. I would hate to have to replace that expensive part every time a rock hits it. The sensor for the Nissan is hidden behind the Nissan badge. Move up the trim levels and you get LED fog lights to match the LED headlights on the Altima. The seats in the Altima are far more comfortable than the Accord. Does Honda still offer their 'LaneWatch' blind spot detection on only one side of the vehicle, or did they finally ditch that and offer blind spot detection on both sides like everyone else? Everyone loves to hate on the CVT transmission, but Honda is being sued for their CVT failures in the Civic and the CR-V. Since the Accord uses the same CVT in almost all trim levels, you can count that one too. Honda now has a problem with fuel mixing with engine oil, yet they refuse to properly handle the issue. I have driven two Altimas, a Maxima, and two Muranos with over 150K miles combined for all of those vehicles and none of them had issues with the CVT. No one is perfect and Hondas, Toyotas, and Nissans have all had various issues over the years. I had an '03 Accord for 10 years, with a transmission failure after 5 years. Also had a Civic, which was a complete nightmare. After dealing with that car for a year and Honda's poor service, that experience turned me away forever. But you do have to give Honda a thumbs up for finally ditching that awful looking center cluster dash in the 2013-2017 models.

I like both but when your chief point is LED tail lights....I just say AWD. Honestly I have loved both brands for years, Accord usually the more stylish and the Altima more like a grandma car. I was pleasantly surprised as even though the Altima SR doesn't have LED tail lights but in my opinion is the first time it beat Accord in style. I just got out of a Legacy and still wanted to keep AWD even if it is only when you need it as I live in the north east. After going through everything and weighing the differences I still came out with the Altima on top, I mean those seats are so comfortable even without 4 way lumbar. Either vehicle is great, Altima just won me over and I got one tonight and am in love with it and no regrets.

Out of those, I would choose Nissan for these reasons: naturally aspirated engine, looks better to me, has a V6 option if needed, AWD option if needed, and to me a better bang for your buck. I mean don’t get me wrong I’m sure Honda’s are great but I owned both makes and I preferred the Nissan. It’s just so much better comfort wise. The Accord is the only pick here, led DRL and led brake lights, nicer wheels, better built material and quality, THERE IS NO COMPARISON. I had the 2008 Altima model and after 70k miles it started breaking down, the fuse box under the hood was not making contact with all the wiring going to the electronic engine components, the elect fans stopped working and over heated the engine, Nissan replaced the gaskets for the heads, a few thousand miles later the head gaskets started leaking, so the heads warped along with the engine block, the power steering line started leaking as well, and the cvt transmission had a problem. It was just cheaper to give a small down payment and buy the 2015 Accord, which at 90k miles has had no problems.

Of course to each his own ,, I recently shopped around for a new sedan ,, we owned a late model top of the line Nissan Murano so we had plenty of equity to deal with. We checked out the 2019 Honda Accord, very nice vehicle indeed price, $ 40,998.00 ( Cad ). We wanted a vehicle equipped with AWD and to be honest we couldn't leave the Honda dealership quick enough ,,, sales manager was in the wrong job, should have been a comedian !! At our local Nissan dealership they had in the showroom a top of the line Altima Platinum and it was loaded. It was stunning, in Sunset Drift finish, a Winter tire and wheel package ( Firestone tires with very nice alloys ) the regular tires were 19" Hankook GT Low Profile on nice alloys. The safety technology was second to none, the interior was finished in very good quality, we were sold. Including the Winter tire / wheel package and all the extras we paid $ 38,100.00 and because our trade in vehicle was in new condition we received a very generous trade in allowance. An absolutely no brainer ,, this beautiful Nissan Altima was $ 2898.00 cheaper than the Accord the trade in allowance at the Nissan dealership was $ 3900.00 higher than what the clown offered us at Honda. We only paid tax on the price difference so there was a sizeable saving there also ,,, it's a delightful vehicle to drive.

The Nissan CVT should have been the deal breaker. Not in buying the Honda but instead a Toyota Camry. I own a 2016 Altima SR with only 60000 miles. It already has gone under the knife with a CVT transplant. It's operates like an old man who owns an extended life insurance policy. However, in this case its called a lawsuit related extended warranty claim.

090517 Salinas This is a very common complaint in the Accords. The audio systems totally suck in them. Even in the top Touring trim. I can personally vouch for this being a previous owner of a 2013 Touring a few years ago. Most manufactures have teamed up with Bose, JL. Harman Kardon etc. Honda continues to do their own in house audio and still suck at it.

The Altima was designed with the Accord defeat in mind Badly want to buy it but it's larger engine means a significant jump in taxes meaning the Accord 1.5 costs around 12million ($60200) while the would cost close to 19 at ($90000+) which is a quite significant jump Anyhow both the cars are priced nearly twice and thrice over their actual prices

you don't need AWD to drive on NE US roads. studless snow tires are more than sufficient for any FWD car 99% of the time, and a pair of chains in the trunk will cover the other 1% if you get stuck on ice and have to putt putt around in your sedan anyway. if you want to give up efficiency for extra traction honda assumes you wouldn't mind buying a crv or pilot.

Also, the Accord Sport is way better than then the Altima because you can get a 6 speed manual. You can also get a 2.0T with a 10 speed automatic transmission. The top of the line Accord Touring has the 2.0T with a 10-speed while the Altima just gives you a CVT. The Altima's Turbo VTC engine has been used for a while in Infiniti's and it hasn't been very reliable.

I guess depends where you live but as close as the 2 cars are getting the AWD for the same price to me would put the Nissan as a clear favorite. The only bad thing is yes their resale value is bad but that is because they sell so many to rental fleets and it crushes value. If you are leasing or keeping for the long haul though I would go Nissan.
