I love this show! I love these old periodicals. I have not read this series mainly because I thought I was missing some of the books. In other periodicals, it’s great to read gossip and infighting like you said. I love reading jabs that these guys gave each other. It’s no wonder the clubs had so much trouble in the past. Everyone fought. For the most part, most of this infighting is gone. This is because of the leadership of the greats of today. Most of them get along and many are friends. There is enough work today, so most pros don’t need to fight for work. One more of your episodes before we hit Magifest. I can’t wait!

Thanks for the kind words as well as the feedback about today's clubs. I, too, am looking forward to MagiFest - see you soon!

Great episode as ever. The content was so helpful and I love the references to other relevant episodes. After watching this I took the opportunity to visit The Magic Circle library in London to check out some of the books mentioned. Thanks Jeff

This video quickly made me smile. The Jinx is a most wondrous experience, and something to enjoy and savour again and again. Magic periodical collections are indeed a gold mine. I read it on my PC and E-reader, and as time goes on I will say I love the search function, but one day will grab a hard copy set. Great video.

You're so lucky to have it in printed form. I have The Jinx in PDF and boy is it a pain to read that way -- but it truly is excellent material. I also recently got The Complete Sphinx on DVD from Vanishing and am working through that too. Great stuff!

Great episode. I might add that IBM members already have access to Ask Alexander. It’s a bit tricky to navigate to from the IBM website. It’s easiest to find by going to the member dashboard and it’s the second option in the list on the right.

The Jinx has never really seemed that dated to me. While the old card books often seem archaic, the Jinx has always seemed eminently readable.

Could you do the "Cardiste" by Russduck?
@EruditeMagic
@EruditeMagic Год назад
I haven't seen that name or that creator in the Jinx. Can you point me to where it might be?
@EruditeMagic
@EruditeMagic Год назад
Thanks for clarifying. 👍 So it has nothing to do with The Jinx - it's a different periodical altogether... 🤷🏻
@tommarquette9706
@tommarquette9706 Год назад
Rusduck cites creating the publication as a dedication to Ted Anneman . Simon Aronson cites Cardiste as the foundation of his Mem-stack.

Or the "Crimp"
@rosscoman
@rosscoman Год назад
The Crimp is a lot of fun, and filthy, but doesn't compare to the Jinx in terms of depth, breadth, and impact.

@ScottRSmith1964

Is there just two Jinx books? Jinx and the new Jinx?
@EruditeMagic
@EruditeMagic Год назад
Good question! No, the new Jinx is a totally different thing and technically has nothing to do with Ted anaman, other than continuing the name of the periodical. The Jinx was originally a magazine, but later collectively bound into three different books, showcasing issues 1-50, 51-100, & 101-151. Tannen's was the first to publish them together, but later D. Robbins bought the rights and reprinted them with a different cover
