Thanks mate always good to watch all spectrums of airbrush use one question wouldn't a single action airbrush be better for model painting as it seems to me you could feather the trigger better ,not that I paint models mind 😮😮
Do you have any kind of tech support? My Ultra 2024 is basically a paper weight. Since it's first use, it clogs within seconds and often won't spray any paint on any setting other than full spray. I have had to pour the paint from the ultra into a cheap Chinese airbrush with a 0.2mm nozzle which sprays the same paint perfectly without clogs. I just cannot believe my ultra 2024 is functioning correctly. And yes the paints are thinned correctly. It won't spray paints thinned far too much either.
Contact their support. They will help you, could take some time before they will respond though. I had problems with leaking air, and after some forth and back, they send me a new trigger and airvalve which solved my problem.
Hey there - first thing to try is to make sure that you head is tight. Take off the end-piece, loosen the needle chuck, pull the needle back 5mm, then tighten the head to a good finger tight, push the needle gently back into the nozzle until it stops, tighten the needle nut, replace the end-piece. Lack of spray, or bubbles in the cup are typical signs that you your head is not tight. Don't over do it - just a firm finger tight is fine - let us know! I'm sure that you can see from many many other comments that the ULTRA works really well indeed, so I'm glad that you reached out for some advice. W
@harderairbrush is there a video for troubleshooting these types of things? I've picked up the ultra and evolution and they are both my first proper airbrushes and am worried about damaging them. I would (and im sure others would too) greatly appreciate a video guide of what you've just described.

hi i am a big fan of hs airbrushes and i also own a colani which in my opinion is the best mini gun / airbrush hybrid u can ever buy for fast painting with any sort of paint and consistency larger models like helmets body suits for cosplay is very comfortable very easy to use nothing crazy about it just simplicity and well designed to do the job and maintenance. i just wish to get a bit more love from you guys and maybe make a small upgrade to it not for the tool itself i think the tool is perfect for its purpouse easy to use and clean also doesn't require a big compressor like the other mini guns u can just use it with something like sparmax 620x but i would like to see some new nozzles that allow fan and spatter patterns
Thanks for the positive feedback on the Colani. Very cool gun - I agree. The problem with fan pattern caps is that they are typically 2.5 - 3x the air consumption of a regular aircap - they have a minimum of three air holes, rather than just the central one. W
i know but is better to have the option than nothing at all. i am waiting for my ultra 24 and evolution black squidmar 24 and i would like to know if the new nozzle/needle are still compatible with the old spatter cap@@harderairbrush
cool maybe at that time u will release a fan cap for the airbrushes maybe u manage to design one that does the job and doesnt use too much extra air. it is all about the pattern when u paint cars and plain wings with fan cap u dont overlap that much and is easier to get straight lines @@harderairbrush
i bought the ultra 2024 edition as my first ever airbrush man it is awesome, After working out how to use the preset setting ring it is quite the upgrade from handbrushing i do think if i have ever a need to get another airbrush i will most certainly go for the 2024 evolution yust to up my warhammer gaming more.🤯👌👍
Hello Sir excellent video. I recently got my new Evolution Squidmar airbrush and love it. The new trigger response is spot on truly a major improvement the whole airbrush even how the cap fits on the bowl is impressive. I do have a question for you? Will a new trigger design work in the older infinity series with response as the new Ultra and new Evolution series? If the new trigger design won’t work do you have a future date as to when the new Infinity will be released? I can see in the future a fine detail side feed Infinity with new trigger design in my arsenal, wink, wink!1
Hey Gary… it’s not such a simple answer 😊 the actual trigger itself is only the smallest part in the improvements to the feel. The contributing parts, all of which are changed in the new airbrushes, are: body; trigger; excenter; needle guide; middle piece (ie the bearing for the needle guide)… changing the trigger only does not give you all of the benefit of the new system, perhaps only 10-15% in terms of the response. I will be making a video on this topic soon and will explain it fully. The new Infinity, though, is not far off now 😎 And it’s mega…
Thank you for answering back I appreciate it immensely. I love the new evolution the fit and feel is great especially the how precise the trigger is for consistency. H&S is back to being my favourite airbrush! Also if you need a test subject for a side feed Infinity look no further.
My ULTRA arrived! 😮 I couldn’t be happier. It is such a joy to use. ❤ It is may first own new bought airbrush and I really appreciate how it supports me painting my first custom paint model gunpla. 🎉
@@harderairbrush As a beginner, I‘d say the presets on the collar. And it really feels well build. It worked right out of the box. That was also neat. I‘m looking forward to spend more evenings with it.
(My terminology may not be great) Am I right in thinking that the crown ring or 'split fin' on the front of the airbrush uses air 'turbulence' to help shape the spray pattern, and thus using it without the crown on results in a much narrower/precise spray cone?
It's actually pretty difficult to know what psi Andy is using because he's that much of a ninja that he controls is by pressing the trigger down in varying amounts. I don't even know if he knows he's doing it! But by the sound, I'd guess that it's around 18-20psi...
Just used the new ultra to prime some models yesterday and there was almost zero tip drying. I did have trouble where i had to pull back really far on the trigger before any paint at all would come out, did i not thin the paint enough?
I had the same experience last weekend. But I would open the flow from time to time and spray away from model to help avoid the drying. Also “jammed” a cleaner brush into the nozzle. I’m right there with you. ;)
Hey Jeppe - firstly thanks for joining us! Depends on the paint too... When we use most paints, to make the settings work well, we're thinning them 1:1 with thinner. Typically if the paint isn't moving well and early, then yes, it's too thick, OR not enough air pressure - we recommend around 25psi for priming. You should feel a very responsive trigger with the ULTRA 2024, with paint moving early in the trigger stroke...
@@harderairbrush I'm going to get around to adding a dash of metallic paint into Space Marine colour schemes to get a bit of a pop, like you did in that other video. It looks like a really nice effect. Cheers for the advice. See you in the next video :)
One method I've experimenting with for black is actually somewhat simpler but seemed to work quite well. Using citadel colours in this case but.... Prime black, zenithal with thunderhawk blue then do a finer highlight with fenrisian grey. At first glance you have a very grey-blue model with black shadows, take the black templar contrast paint, thin it, and kinda re-zenithal the model with the glaze of black templar. You can go heavier or lighter as you see fit but it leaves like a grey sheen showing and I quite liked the way it came out for me. Now that my Ultra 2024 has arrived I'm looking forward to doing more and expanding my skills with the backup of the control collar so I don't accidentally blast giant spiderwebs of paint on my minis like I have previously
