Ultra Street Fighter II - REVIEW (Nintendo Switch) 

I think the price is what kills this thing. $40 for SSF2 is a big ask. Something in the $15-$20 range would've placed this in impulse buy territory

Capcom is shooting themselves in the foot with that price, and they'll wonder why it didn't sell.

Capcom should be re-releasing Marvel vs Capcom 2 with same updated graphics like this game. It would sell big time.

40 USD for Turbo HD Remix and two new characters. That's some disgusting price gouging if I've ever seen it. This should have been 20 USD MAX for trying to sell an 8 year old game based on a 25 year old game with a minigame using assets from ANOTHER 8 year old video game.

This should be priced at $19.99.

Excellent review, thank you for that. I think I better understand why they charged $40 for the game. It’s a well-done definitive version of a classic, feature-rich and lovingly crafted, that you can currently only get on Switch. The HD graph and character models look really great and I love that they utilized VO from SF IV (or was it V?), and revamped the soundtrack even if not all the tracks are killer. This video made me crave Super SF II Turbo again. Awesome! And agreed, that first-person mode looks trash and will be completely ignored. Lol

There are $30 Switch games offering more value than this $40 game. Hell, even some $20 Switch games.

That Chun Li artwork looks amazing. She moves in mysterious ways.

doubt this is gonna sell. they should have AT LEAST brought Street Fighter 4 to the switch.

Also in handheld or tabletop mode theres a touch screen feature (if you want) you can see special moves displayed in various places to do moves.

Why the hell Crapcom didn't think of releasing Ultra Street Fighter IV on Nintendo Switch? They just had to upgrade the graphics, or simply add a bunch of new stages and fighters. It would've sold like crazy

I think I'll stick with SFV & wait for ARMS. It's still a bit weird that they didn't use the UDON version of the artbook with its translated English text. Hopefully this doesn't scare Capcom away from the Switch entirely.

Does this version have handicap settings so my buddy doesn’t absolutely destroy me when we play versus? Essentially where it handicaps his ability and brings down as punching and kicking power by a percentage. I know that’s available in SFIV so I was wondering if it was available here does anybody know?

Buddy battle should have been against the entire roster in each characters respective stages. Every "new" piece of content outside the art book, feels tacked on in a minimal effort to justify the $40 asking price. They should have include the animated movie and 3rd strike for this price and cut out way of the hado mode all together.

I think the perfect combo is HD graphics + classic audio. That classic audio is the only way to play for those of us who started with world warrior/ champion edition in the arcades. Damn I'm old lol

Hands down the best fighting game ever made. The granddaddy of everything that came after, worth every dollar I ever spent on it from the arcade cabinet, to the mega drive and snes versions to the virtual console and now the switch. I will happily pay full price for this

For those who want more control options, 8bitdo's controllers got a firmware update for Switch compatability. They have plenty of retro and modern style controllers to select from!

I have no nostalgia whatsoever for this franchise, but the update in every audiovisual way is underwhelming compared to the classic mode.

Why is this game $40?

Can anyone tell me if the controls on this game are based on arcade or console ROMs? The only reason I ask is because I downloaded the SF 30th anniversary and the controls are based on the arcade and not the console which makes it difficult to be consistent in pulling off certain moves.

I see all these people saying the price was too high but im laughing right now because it was described by Capcom "a smash hit". $40 doesn't mean people won't buy this. Games these days cost 60-80 bucks, not even including the Special Editions, but nobody complains about that, do they? If you're complaining about a port being too expensive, then don't buy it. Simple as that. Though they need to port Ultra Street Fighter IV asap

For the Color Editor, if your Switch isn't docked, you can actually use the touchscreen on the editor, which is much less cumbersome.

Scrolled through the comments and haven't seen it yet but just a heads up. For everyone wasting time using the controllers to use the color editor it's best to just use the touch screen. Works perfectly fine quick and accurate. Also this games worth the $40 I'd say. Have yet to put it down and the online play is practically perfect. It brings back days of being in an arcade vs whoever walked up. Only slight gripe was a bit of lag here or there but that was connection issue not game related. I can see this being a game that is discounted in the later days but for now I'm digging it!

The price tag is what's holding my back right now. But i know that i will eventually get it.

I'm sure the game will sell well, despite the price tag. It's unfortunate that Pocket Rumble hasn't released yet. I think that if PR was currently out, Street Fighter wouldn't sell quite as well. But since there's a lack of new fighting games to play (discounting the NeoGeo games on the eshop), people will be picking up SF based on name brand and lack of options alone.

I currently play the older re-release for gba on my soft modded Wii, if I get a switch I definitely plan to pick this up. I agree the price is kinda demanding for a game that's older than me by at least a decade lol but I personally prefer a alpha trilogy with updates & online and hopefully the Street Fighter 3 3rd strike goes from Ps Now to a actual download.

So right now, Street Fighter V has a sales total of around... let's say 1.8 million. I think that's the best estimate to make (the last recorded sales number was 1.5 million on February of this year). ... Why do I have a feeling that this game is gonna outsell SFV? Edit: I don't why you guys took this so seriously. I just said I had a feeling. That doesn't equate to it will outsell SFV. Really, I don't think it will, but... I just can't help but shake the feeling for some reason. I don't know why either. Or perhaps I'm just looking at this whole thing too hard.

That's really a though sell, being released shortly after an amazing fighting game like Injustice 2. And soon we will get Arms and MvC Infinite as well. So yeah, I have no interested in another SF2 remaster.

Sony doomed Street Fighter V. Imagine if Switch was able to get the full package of that game at lauch. Don't get me wrong Street Fighter II is fine and all but it's super old and Street Fighter V is the latest iteration that shouldn't have been exclusive to no one. If it wasn't a Sony exclusive Street Fighter V would have gotten Super Street Fighter V. at least give the Switch Ultra Street Fighter 4

For those who did pick it up i have one question for you, for the "3D" mode of the game, can someone explain how that works? I did pre-order it (yes i know, waste of money but its my waste of money) and just need more info on how it works.

For those of you complaining about this port. 1. Yes it's pricey but capcom wants their money's worth before the paid online service. 2. If there were any new characters it would turn away all the hardcore fighting game fan base and new 'fun' modes would do the same. 3. Violent ken is a nice addition for those of us who appreciate the SvC and Capcom vs SNK titles. 4. The buddy battle mode could be great if it had online capabilities too. Although the exclusion of arcade buddy battle (dramatic battle) is silly. 5. There aren't many people reviewing the game so the online wouldn't be an accurate representation either, that's to prevent unfair review scores. In short the game isn't perfect and is pricey, but for a hardcore fighting game fan it's 100% worth it. Plus it's an entry for this new to fighting game. What's the problem?

I have not feel such a stron nostalgia feeling from a game before, but this game makes me feel like I'm back in the 90's, I've been playing all day and I think that this game is totally worthe $40 but only to Street Fighter fans like myself, casual fighting game player might not feel the same way and that's totally understandable.

You can use the touch screen with the colour editer making it a hell of alot easier.
