Artifacts occur due to false assumptions the transducer makes when receiving ultrasound echoes. In this video we will review the refraction artifact (including edge shadowing), reverberation artifact, mirroring, comet tail and ring down artifacts, speed artifacts, acoustic shadowing and acoustic enhancement as well as range ambiguity.

Not sure if the question banks are for you?
If you're here, you're likely studying for a radiology physics exam. I've spent the last few months collating past papers from multiple different countries selecting the most commonly asked questions. You'll be surprised how often questions repeat themselves!
The types of questions asked in FRCR, RANZCR AIT, ARRT, FC Rad Diag (SA), ABR qualifying Core Physics and MICR part 1 are surprisingly similar and the key concepts remain the same throughout. I've taken the most high-yield questions and answered them in video format so that I can take you through why certain answers are correct and others are not.
Happy studying,
Michael

Thank you all for watching. At 3:04 I misspoke 😖 The diagrams here are correct. What I meant to say was, if speed of sound increases in the second medium the angle of transmission will be more than the angle of incidence. And visa versa. Apologies for that!

If at all confused I explain it correctly in talk #7 of this series (refraction) 🙂

Awesome videos! I think you may be misspeaking during the refraction explanation. Your explanations about the sound waves slowing down or speeding up seem to be backwards relative to the diagrams (c2>c1; c1>c2)

Thank you for the great video. I just have a question regarding Snell's law. You mentioned in the video that "if the speed of sound increases, we will get an angle of transmittance that is smaller than the angle of incidence" but the diagram seems to show otherwise. I've gone through the calculation via the formula and I think if the speed of sound increase in the 2nd medium, the angle should also increase. Pls let me know if there's a mistake in my understanding. Thank you
@radiologytutorials
@radiologytutorials 11 месяцев назад
Hello. Not sure I did say that. If I did, do you mind letting me know when in the video so I can highlight the mistake for others? You’re right angle of transmission is higher than incidence of speed increases.
