I had congestion the last few days. Tried this today and I could feel it making a difference immediately. By round 6 I was completely clear! Thank you very much.
Trying to sleep last night here with Covid (Omicron suspected) day 4 isolation. Couldn't breath through my nose and sleep was painful through the mouth. This worked a treat for me, just need to be sitting up. Thank you so much for making a difference my life in a small way during this time.
Years before seeing this video and learning of this method, I discovered this for myself; but without the nodding part. I found that when I held my breath for as very long as I could, my blocked nostril opened up; as if it were an emergency reaction to allow as much oxygen entry as possible. Anyway, finding this video is a revelation. Thank you!
Yes, I realised this too. Like how our nose opens up when I go for exercise. So I think it's a natural brain response to reduce the swelling due to it thinking there's pollens or allegens, and that the body now needs more oxygen instead.
I've struggled to breathe through my nose since being a young child. Since starting this I've totally cleared my sinuses and no longer breathe through my mouth. Thanks so much
I did it 5 or 6 times and noticed only a slight difference, but then I did it one more time and really pushed my head up and down nodding it, and my stuffy ear suddenly popped! My nose and ear feel a less clogged, awesome!!
I initially posted here about 2 months ago and am happy to report that this method has helped me considerably with regard to sleeping/breathing difficulties. My sleep has improved, I have had fewer and less disruptive breathing stoppages, and generally wake up a bit more relaxed than in the past. Because of these successes, I will continue to practice your method. Thank you so very much for this illuminating video.
A year has gone since I adopted this breathing method. Am happy to report it is still working for me. My hope is that many of you can say the same. Blessings and good health to all.
I went from a completey blocked right nostril, to what feels like 80% free flowing air, after the 6th repetition. This is while experiencing both a sinus infection and a condition where one nostril shuts down completely during the night. This is very impressive. Thanks for posting this video.
Yo, it didn't work for me either at first, but its poorly explained imo. When it says "nod your head", they mean to the maximum range of your neck. Chin to chest, then tilt your head back as far as possible. When I originally tried, I had no results, but using this method I required a tissue after each breath.
You need to solve the long-term problem: inflammation. Eliminate simple carbs like sugar, grains and beer. Get rid of seed oils and replace them with olive oil or coconut oil. You may need to eliminate lectins, but for most people just doing the first two will be dramatic.
Defined helped with my blocked nose 👃 but when I did this method only one side opened up faster than the other. But when I held my head up only until I needed to breathe, instead of up and done, both cleared up 😮 Give it a try!!
Well, I felt like a fool while I was doing it, but that doesn't matter, does it? I can breathe through both nostrils now! And taping my mouth at night is life-changing. I am so happy that I have found these methods of making my breathing (and therefore everything else) better! Thank you!
If you do the exercise it will open your nose temporarily. The duration effect will gradually improve as your breathing habit improve and your respiratory is better. Many factors to it though, just check their website. I have followed their suggestions seems to be working for me...
@@thompsontwins4547 try the exercise, because it will open up your nose temporarily. Try using tape on your mouth. The reason why it is blocked is because you're not supposed to breathe too much. There is such things.. The carbon dioxide in your alveolus is low when you breathe too much, you know.. Because you breathe it out... For further explanation about the why, check their website. I can't guarantee the information being 100% correct mechanism wise.. Or getting all the words right.. But i have practice new habit of breathing. I try to breathe less during the day. I exercise my lung muscles (not sure what they called) I use tape on my mouth when i sleep. (getting rid of mouth breathing during sleeping) I exercise regularly I even strech (static stretching) my face before i sleep so the muscles around my face grow faster. Now i am happier..
I have a severe stuffed nose, SEVERE, I actually have the rebound effect from the medicated nose spray. It gets completely blocked off. It actually scares me. I have trouble eating, drinking, especially drinking, and sleeping because it feels swollen. It is horrible.i am always breathing through my mouth when this happens. You are describing me. I wake up tired. I feel horrible. I am going to do this at night before bed.
Hi Miss Molly. It takes a lot of more. You need to make a concerted effort to nose breathe only. Practise the exercises. Practise slowing down your breathing. Breathe only through the nose during physical exercise. It gets easier. Patrick
Buteyko method will work for you. Start with nose unblocking and then read more. It's a wonderful thing especially for someone who has a chronic condition , because the relief is very quick in coming.
Breathe normally. Usually setting a time for one's self, like 5, 7, 14 or 20 minutes at a time where one is comfortable with. Hence when done regularly each day, one can notice the breathing will eventually lengthen without the necessary effort. The important part is "attentiveness" where if an individual notice themselves focusing on other things, to then "attend" back to concentrating on the breath. It does require practice, patience and diligence but the rewards are more than worth it - especially now when one of the symptoms of the corona virus is loss of or hard of breath and breathing. Clearing the nasal passages as well as empowering one's self through the control of the breathing is a step towards true understanding of independence, individuality, freedom, oneness and awareness of self.
It's sort of working, it clogs back up again pretty quickly. It's interesting though. Also I breath through my nose normally and yes I'm holding my breath until I strongly need air. I didn't do it wrong, I can breath better for a second, it just clogs up again.
Be careful guys. If you have any sort of anxiety or have ever been told anything you have might be anxiety it probably is. This hypersensitivity to a blocked nose is anxiety. Don’t get nasal surgery or do this constantly. Feel congested and allow it and you will notice it less and less when you get busy with life
Whatever side of your nose is stuffed simply switch to the other side wait for the shift to start then put your head back it helps me temporarily though
Isabel Posadas if you have sleep apnea cpap is the standard treatment, but it didn't work well most days for me and I still would wake up not breathing or having trouble breathing regularly, sometimes 5+ times a night. It was aweful. So I got Bimaxillary Jaw Advancement and it helped a lot! it has over 90% success rate in curing sleep apnea by opening up the airway behind your jaw, which is the main cause of most sleep apnea. I can finally sleep now without stopping breathing anymore.
This is just brilliant. My breathing feels much much better. Is it necessary to pinch the nose to close it? Because if it is unnecessary then I could even do this exercise while my hands are occupied doing some work. Also is the nodding of the head necessary? Because I could then even do this exercise in public while travelling, etc. Thks so much.
Hi MediaTRIX, The method works best as is, with head nodding and pinching the nose. It helps to create the air hunger that opens up the airways. Thanks for the comment.
Thank you for sharing this video. I did the breathing and my right nostril still blocked. It is always the right nostril. Do I need to do it longer , And every day? Thank you!!
what was the health benefits from the technique(?) (more than cleaning nose), i didn't understand, my native language aren't english. btw, i can't close my mouth - i have too big front teeth :), but i started putting tejp on my mouth when sleeping recently, cus i thought i was good for the pH'level (hadn't seen/or heard anyone do that though, and i felt more peace/calm when sleeping, it is a nice feeling :). maybe i can use tape in public too :).
Trying this method can be dangerous. I have tried it, it temporarily clears my nostrils, but the congestion always comes backs sooner or later, sometimes it clears them for as long as a week, but never much longer than that. On the other hand, using this method caused me a headache and broke minor blood vessels in my brain. This isn't necessarily a much better idea than partial turbinectomies are.
I've been to the doctor, I've got the steroid spray, diagnosis was rhinitis. Been for the operation. Turns out it was a gluten intolerance, in bread and beer, im allergic to, causing my nose to block up. That's all it was. Years of using steroid spray. Since giving up bread and beer I've never used the spray once. I had to figure the allergy out for myself of course.
Interesting. I'd love it if I can get this to work for me. When I try it as described in the video, holding my (lack of) breath for ±40 seconds, my nose is clear directly after but withing 20 seconds it's closed again. After the fifth round there is maybe a slight difference, but barely noticeable. What can I do better?
Try holding the breath for as long as you can. Then breathe only through the nose at all times. Practise the nose unblocking exercise every time the nose gets stuffy. The more you breathe through the nose, the less congested it is.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-I47xi2F3W9g.html I recommend this short video that could help open your nassal passage. It worked for me
@@KSNDXFW534D3FW3 Ensure you utilize the bottle a minimum of 1-2 daily, but increase to three times if necessary. To maintain hygiene, cleanse the bottle with soap and then sterilize it by microwaving for 2 minutes.
@@alexuwo Thanks so much for the response! You're kinder than 99% of people out there! So it's a safe and effective treatment to do a nasal rinse 3x/day for the indefinite future?
@@KSNDXFW534D3FW3 Indeed, I have been utilizing a nasal rinse for 15 years. However, it is essential to ensure proper sterilization of the bottle. Additionally, if your budget permits, consider purchasing a new bottle occasionally rather than continuously reusing the same one. This approach is merely to err on the side of caution.
@@alexuwo Super information, and incredibly prompt! Is it okay to use the cheap bottles? It's certainly no inconvenience for me to purchase a $10 bottle / neti pot every month.
I started having this problem when I got a call center job which needs me to be talking from start to end of shift plus anxiety so I found myself taking deep breaths and have resorted to mouth breathing, before long I realized this constant excessive yawning and inability to take a deep satisfying breathing and I was freaking out. My question is, I want to do this Buteyko breathing exercise but since I talk a lot would that not have any bad effect if I make this effort of breathing slow and minimal? Enlighten me please?
I just tried it and it worked. What if my nose is blocked during sleep? Have I to get up to do it, or you suggest doing the exercise lied down? Thank you!
*I am 31. I have a deviated septum and chronic congestion.* BUT I also have hypertension. My resting blood pressure is 145/90. Is this exercise safe for me? If not, kindly direct me to a safer alternative.
You can do all of the exercises not involving long breath holds, including nose breathing during sleep, relaxation, breathe light, breathe slow, breathe low. Please check this link for free info buteykoclinic.com/high-blood-pressure/
Is the nose pinching necessary or is that just to make sure you are not breathing through your nose during the exercise? Can you do it without the pinch if you know you are holding both your mouth and nose shut during the exercise?
