This book looks cool. Way back when, I had started to build a Lizardman army, but then my core crew of miniature game playing friends all switched to a short lived (but MUCH better, rules wise) game called Chronopia, where I made an army of their lizard-folk, instead. That game also had really, really cool goblins if I remember right. I'd been gaming with my friends for a couple years before I broke into the larger local gaming community in my town, probably around 1990 or 1991. Some folks, I think mostly Warhammer mini players, had already played WFRP and moved on, but they all seemed to have good things to say about it. It was another game like WEG's Ghostbusters or TSR's Marvel Super Heroes, that everyone who played seemed to like, but nobody ever brought to the table. I was more of a 40K guy, but at the time, they hadn't done an RPG, and I wasn't yet confident enough in my skills or ambitious enough, to run 40K with another system. It too was a game steeped in satire, which I think got lost in translation by the late 90s. I still have all my 40K books, and have been very tempted to dip into them...maybe when I get around to ordering the new BRP... Fast-forward to me getting into the hobby again and seeing this new edition of WHRP...very tempting. But alas, I didn't pick it up and now, like with RuneQuest, it seems like they've just put out so much that my wallet screams every time I think about it.
