I’m still one of the biggest fans of Nightfall out there and I got stoked when I learned of this a few years ago on BGG. Then I started looking at playtest results and initial concept art stuff and immediately stopped caring about this new version. My copy of Nightfall will never leave my collection. This won’t ever enter it.

I’m a HUGE Universal Monsters fan and hadn’t heard of this. I’ve never went from super excited to super disappointed faster than this.

Same. Have been waiting for more games with the Universal Monsters theme and would have been all over this. Very disappointed

Ouch this was a hard watch. Thanks fo the review. It's unfortunate that the Universal Monsters didn't get to shine here. Would have been cool to have a deck per monster so you at least would be albe to fight as Dracula against the Mummy or something like that instead of just random cards for all players.

I can see how the IP restrictions really held the design of this back - the inability to allow players to 'be' the iconic monsters, means coming up with that confusing veneer of the apprentice as the goal with the fatigue cards, when that's not what the game is actually doing. I've heard from others that Universal is crazy specific about using their IPs, and it feels like this never got off the ground in any kind of natural way to get around the restrictions. Sad.

Oh no! Nightfall is in my top 100 of all time, and has been sadly forgotten and underrated... and its designer comes back 10 years later to do a game that receives such poor reviews... I feel sad :(

So disappointing that this looks so terrible. Nightfall is one of my favorites. Not a lot of content for Nightfall out there...hint hint hint. Love ya Zee
