I have been looking everywhere for a video like this to show me because I want wider pages than the A5 but had there aren't any 7x9 pages 6 hole punched so I didn't want to have to punch into my boxes! but your video has literally saved my planner thank you so much (:
Thank you so much for this. This also gave me a reason to use all my unused washi tape. I bought a couple vintage Coach planners and can now convert so I can use the binder.
I uncoiled my Recollections binder which has the same hole configuration as Erin Condren and put it directly into my Carpe Diem by VERY slightly enlarging the holes that correspond to the six holes in the Carpe Diem. I didn't trim and I didn't repunch because they match. I love it. The other existing holes become kind of a decorative border because they line up with the Carpe Diem holes and they don't bother me a bit like repunching without taping usually does.
Marylynn Caldwell ... thank you for sharing this. I've done the same with other spirals & binder, but was curious if it would work with the EC spirals. You are the only person i've come across who uses this same method as i do.
Thank you soooo much for posting this!! This tutorial is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I’ve been trying to figure out a way to modify a spiral bound 2018/2019 Bando calendar. I LOVE the calendar but I just abhor spiral bound notebooks for some reason. IDK why other than I think they remind of cheap high school notebooks. 😝 This was a tremendous help.

I love my EC but hate the coil. I have an A5 ringed planner but miss my EC layout. THIS is the perfect solution! I can’t wait to try it! ❤️
Thank you! Honestly, it's just practice. You can practice on scrap sticker backing from precut sticker sheets, or just sacrifice a sheet of sticker paper. But really, if you cut through the backing too it isn't a big deal because the strip of sticker paper is still useable, just a little harder to get off the backing. I suggest cutting on top of a kitchen cutting board until you get used to the right pressure... don't want to cut your tabletops!
Ris, what do you think about using this method but not using the strips to cover the coil holes? Would the prepunched holes fit over an a5’s rings? Or could I use a hole punch and punch over the coiled holes? Is the strip of paper mostly for looks? Bc I may be able to get over that if it saves me from having to cover the holes with sticker paper.
PlannishMama I preferred the finished look of sticker paper but you could totally skip it and just punch straight over the regular coil holes. They mostly line up, it’s just here and there that they don’t.
do you by any chance know if i can use an erin condren coil in a recollections planner? i dont like that the recollection's coil is silver and a little flimsy compared to my EC one. are the holes punched the same in the EC vs the recollections?
it should work in theory. I just did a quick count and the EC pages (2017-2018) have 35 holes versus 34 for the Recollections (2017-2018). I’d compare the holes on your specific ones before doing it. You might have some extra coil.
