What is Karate Kid 3's biggest flaw? Some people hate Karate Kid 3, some people love it. Hayden Schlossberg, co-creator of the Cobra Kai series, identifies the biggest problem with the movie, even though he loves it despite its flaws.
Hayden Schlossberg, co-creator and co-executive producer of Cobra Kai and Obliterated, and writer/director of Harold & Kumar and American Reunion, is joined by host Ken Cole and Drew Rohaly and Kevin Badway from @Thelastrowpodcast

Those 3 writers/directors/creators just get the karate kid thing and it’s so great that someone does things for the love and not just money

Totally agree! They've got everything just right too. I can't thank them enough

I hated KK3 as a kid, I thought it was because I was in 8th grade in 1989 and not in elementary school like I was for the 1984 and 1986 movie, but over the years Part 3 has grown on me.

I, for one, don't care to see Julie or Dre show up, especially Dre.

Dre will never show up. They’re not in the same universe. I think Julie is unlikely, but they may do it just for the fan service.

@@king_supreme1102actually it's confirmed that she will appear in season 6 as a rival to Sensei Kim which makes sense considering that they're both strong female fighters who were trained by their mentors (for Julie it was Miyagi, for Kim it was her grandfather Master Kim).

I just don't see it. Karate kid 3 was so good and so fun. I loved it as a kid and I love it now. When will people realise that a film needs to be one thing. Fun. Maybe my favourite of the karate kid films.

It sounds like Barnes is coming back, along with Snake and Denis. I think Denis and Snake are the one's that burnt down Barnes store. I hope Barnes is treated with respect and let him show off his fighting skills.

Love it or hate it, its a fact that without KK3 there would be no Cobra Kai.
@kobrakitsch877
@kobrakitsch877 Год назад
Not exactly true. The 1st and 2nd seasons of Cobra Kai relied only upon KK1. The 3rd season introduced Kumiko and Chozen from KK2. Terry Silver, Mike Barnes and Jessica Andrews from KK3 came on board during seasons 4 and 5. The first 3 seasons of Cobra Kai can stand apart from KK3 without any connection.
@KenCole

I think for sure that KK3 defines the Cobra Kai style and the series draws on that even from the first episodes, ie. Johnny training Miguel on the dummy.

@@kobrakitsch877 I think what that person means is that the over the top nature of Cobra Kai from Season 2 and onward lends itself a lot to KK3, compared to the more realistic world of KK1 and KK2. Cobra Kai is a series that brilliantly manages to balance itself as serious, but also really over the top and sometimes even campy. Basically, it's drawing on all 3 movies. The first KK movie gives Cobra Kai it's heart, as that first movie was very grounded in a real world, the learning black belt level karate in 2 months not withstanding, it mostly stuck to reality. KK2 slowly moved away from that realism into a more cartoon world, but still mostly realistic. Then you had KK3, really over the top, a straight up comic book villian in Terry Silver and most of the characters really didn't mesh with how they were in KK1. The whole taking a good kid and turning him bad theme that Cobra Kai uses, even in Season 1 is straight out of KK3. If KK3 didn't exist, yeah you could try to bring the franchise back with Cobra Kai, but it wouldn't have the kind of legs it has, going for 6 seasons. I hated KK3 as a kid, but the movie has grown on me.

With all due respect Mr. Hayden I love and respect the heck out of you and your brother for being fans enough to bring back the best Movie Series Ever and turn it into a GREAT new mini series sequel. But.. Columba [kk3's team] not having any real desire to make the kk3 movie doesn't mean the actual movie and its content is flawed. 2.) I heard on the full interview from Sunday Hayden say Silver Hiding in the Chimney was a flaw in the film, But How was it a flaw? When the Chimney was the only place in Miyagi's small studio size room for a 6'4" man to hide, when they surprised Terry by entering the door before he had chance to leave.

@TheFlushmate23
@TheFlushmate23 Год назад
@kobrakitsch877 he is still part of the original karate kid myagi storyline.
@kobrakitsch877
@kobrakitsch877 Год назад
@@TheFlushmate23 So true. Maybe Terry Silver should bring Dugan into the series like John Kreese brought in Silver at the beginning of season 4. But only to provide vital data and information since Michael Ironside is already TOO OLD to do fight scenes anymore.
@TheFlushmate23
@TheFlushmate23 Год назад
@kobrakitsch877 or maybe since kreese is currently and escape convict he could be hiding out with Duggan.
@kobrakitsch877
@kobrakitsch877 Год назад
@@TheFlushmate23 I certainly hope not. The flashback scenes establishing a bond between John Kreese as a young man and Kim Da Eun as a little girl would be totally wasted if that happens. Kreese should seek hidden refuge with Kim from the police.
