Uncovering Rock n' Roll's Destiny: Guitar Bands Through the Decades 

Mainstream rock might be a little sickly looking at the moment but rock in the underground scene is thriving, especially in the doom, stoner rock and heavy psych scenes. These days you just need to do a little extra digging to find gems.

Like everything, the popularity of rock will ebb and flow, dip and rise. Right now tho, it’s at an all time low. Underground bands are holding the flame right now. Plenty of great acts out there, ya just have to search for them.

The guitar/bass/drums thing is over. It's just "Dad Rock" for old farts like me. It's now just an extreme niche audience attraction like Jazz or Blues music.

Rock lives and will continue to live. Radio is not the decider. Radio sucks. Artists are producing themselves. The crap they are doing on radio is not what my kids listen to. Rock will never die.

Why does the video has that irritating muzak interupting the narrating?

Not dead perhaps, but there is certainly an identity crisis when it comes to Rock.

Rock is indeed dead in the mainstream. I remember in the late '80s and early '90s we all realized that it was getting harder and harder to do something new in rock, and like it or not, gangster rap provided that "freshness." It just got harder and harder to reinvent rock 'n' roll, and to do something new. When the last wave of rock hit, and it was just The Strokes, Ryan Adams, and Greta Van Fleet simply copying Led Zeppelin, Tom Petty, and Bob Dylan, I knew it was over.
