Exeter Township's Austin DeSanto beat undefeated, 3x state and world junior champion Spencer Lee, Franklin Regional for the 2017 PIAA class AAA 126 pound championship 6-5 at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pa., Mar. 11.

I have to give credit to Austin DeSanto. He worked his ass off for a year after being Tech. falled last year. Many wrestlers would have dodged Lee, switched weight classes, etc., but DeSanto didn't. DeSanto also looks big for 126 so he must have really worked to keep his weight down. Best of luck to both of these wrestlers in the future.

realize he lee had a torn acl and the other wrestler new this which is why he switched weight classes so he could get a potential win over a great while hes hurt since he cant when hes healed

Desanto said he was going to go at the same weight as Lee no matter what. He was quoted multiple times saying this early in the year.

If this was done at all like how they do our State tournament, then I can’t help but feel bad for the other 126 lbs wrestlers wrestling for a championship at that time because everyone’s eyes would’ve been glued to the Lee v Desanto match

Suriano was probably the biggest disappointment coming from an almost flawless hish school record and then losing 8 matches in college. His only NCAA win was a gift when the ref stopped the match with 9 seconds left. We all thought Suriano could have been one of the greats. Spencer Lee will always be my hero!

You could tell Lee was terrified to go on the feet again as he was a little slow and reluctant to get back to the middle. Lee was already tired, and the look he shows in the front headlock just says it all like “man, how the hell do I get this guy off of me?” Just like Desanto turned RBY into a champion, Spencer Lee turned Desanto into a champion, and Desantos hard work obviously paid off in the 3rd period

seriously? Lee wrestles with a torn acl doesnt practice for a month and desanto gets a takedown that imo was given early there was no time left. either way desanto barely beat lee when his acl was torn and while he had no training. thats definently a win in Lee's book. not many people can do what lee did. wrestling is hard enough with a sprained ankle let alone a torn acl!

He was still teching and pinning kids this year's tournament. Don't be that guy that points out an injury to pettifog what DeSanto did. Everyone is hurting during the state tournament, Lee isn't getting pity from me. Chance Marsteller had a broken back his senior year when he majored and teched his way through the state tournament for his 4th title at 170!!! No excuses!

it's absolutely an excuse to make just look at the difference from last year to this year in their score imagine how this match would have went if Lee didn't have a torn acl and did have his conditioning

Boss of Desanto to cut to wrestle Lee.. all credit in the world. However, Lee looks injured IMO.. You don't go 144-0 an give up 2 TDs in 30 seconds as a 3x Statey and Senior... could be wrong an nothing to take away from Desanto

Matt Rebovich I admit lee wasn't his best but this is the most amazing high school match I've ever seen. Desanto worked every single day after last years beating to come back and win. He sacrificed potentially a state title for redemption

Ben Ungar a mark of a true champion is being able to win in all situations. if you lose its because you have put yourself in a vulnerable position. being injured put him in the vulnerable spot. I don't question the gt check it takes to go through that kind of pain. I tore up my knee in my senior year play football and I have never felt anything remotely like that pain. he will go on and have a good college career

John Reed bro I get powering through the pain to win and be a true champion but with a torn ACL it is like no other. He was basically wrestling with one leg, maybe a leg and a half if he was on good painkillers. If he was healthy Lee would’ve won by at least 8.
