because Suriano was not taking shots. you can't just be pushing your opponent to the edge expecting a stall call. Any good coach would do the same thing and would do anything to ensure their athletes success especially in the NCAA finals when you know the match would only come down to a point or two. Why wouldn't you take the shot to get those few points that could have decided the match? @@doublewidesurprise6016 There's also judo. I did judo before wrestling, and then found freestyle suited my style of wrestling and the grappling I was used to in judo was similar to in freestyle wrestling. Freestyle is definitely better, in my book, than folkstyle. Don't get me wrong, I love it at the more competitive levels, like State and college levels, but I can't stand it for regular HS and college wrestlers. It's too boring.

Nick is right that Smith was workings the refs. The hands to face protest was clearly bogus. Also, Nick clearly pushed, not pulled on Fix's headgear. Fix did a lot of stalling. Suriano's win is legit. So disappointing of Smith to try for a cheap victory on technicalities.

LMAO!!! Suriano is a serial QUITTER! He quit Penn State under Cael Sanderson after his 3rd loss! He quit the super32 in high school after he lost. He quit the Olympic trials after he lost and wouldn't even wrestle his consolation matches! He quit Rutgers... If he had stayed at Penn State he could have been a 3X NCAA champion. Now he will leave college with one MCAA title and that was a gift from the ref that stopped the regulation match with 9 seconds left on the clock. Strength and stamina - Nick wins - skill and technique he gets beat EVERY time!

The stalemate in OT was the worst call of the match. Can't fault the refs on the headgear call, nothing could be seen with Fix's hair, seemed like it was a headgear pull but no chance that was getting reversed.

As a wrestler. Wrestling at this level where the your opponent is just as good and your takedown attempt can majorly backfire on you and can cost you the match. Experience really counts here and heart. You really have to give it 200% the whole match. If you let up for 5 seconds you will loose. There is no glory or paychecks for these guys. It’s the ultimate sport. You are out there all on your own. It goes by so fast.

Not if you're completely a demigod at folkstyle. I was good at folkstyle, but I realized I was so much better at judo, and I could actually try and get a submission on someone without fear of giving up back points. I don't hate on wrestlers or wrestling, but I have met very disrespectful, overly confident wrestlers. We don't typically see it at the higher levels but we did in my HS team.
