@@lesrock6065it's because anyone who dares acknowledge the generations of Israeli transgressions against the Palestinians is automatically called an antisemite. That's the biggest cop out; as if the only reason to find the way Israel has treated the Palestinians since the 1950s abhorrent is antisemitism and not basic human decency. It's the easiest way for the pro-Israel crowd to deflect from the topic.
@peterslegers6121
@peterslegers6121 7 месяцев назад
@@schaddalton Palestinians are also sons and daughters of Sem: One state zionists are anti-semites by default. Hamas attacks are in line with a whole series of Zionist attacks. For instance, the1948 massacre of Deir Yassin, 1953 Qibya massacre, 1982 Sabra and Shatila massacre which was very brutal and more extensive. Leaders of those attacks, Menachem Begin and Ariel Sharon, were promoted to prime minister. From 2008 to 2022, 5331 Palestinians and 52 Israeli soldiers died in Gaza (UN OCHA). I don't know why "we" have different measures for similar evil deeds.

He's left out US involvement (and how our current tax dollars contribute to this), UN involvement (and how they carved out Israel), and how the British let this happen in the first place a hundred years ago. The Palestinians have been pushed out ever since 1920. He's left out how Israel basically encouraged Hamas to exist in order to destabilize Palestine so they can take the last pieces of it. He's making it sound like this started just a few years ago. If there is anyone to blame, its US imperialism and western imperialism using zionism to gain a foothold in the region.

You're leaving out the Middle Eastern countries who chased their Jewish populations into Israel. Germany pumping money and weapons into Israel, out of guilt. The fleeing of Jews from ex-soviet states because of the religious and ethnic persecution. These are all major contributing factors, and hardly the only ones. To simply declare this to be the soul responsibility of "The West" is lazy and unproductive.

I am devastated for the loss of life on both sides. I am beyond disappointed that so little is said about the longstanding occupation, blockades, bulldozing of Palestinian homes for Israeli settlement expansion, and so forth, going back at least 70 years, and even further with the British Palestinian Mandate, Balfour Declaration, etc. The idea that this was all started last week by Hamas and now Israel has impunity to slaughter as many Palestinian civilians as they like in their zeal to extinguish Hamas is horrific. Hamas is a reaction to the past 70 years, and extinguishing them, especially while treating innocent civilians as collateral damage, will only create a vacuum that will be filled in record time. That Israel has nuclear capabilities adds another layer of terror. These actions do nothing to honor the lives of the Israelis killed. Working for a real and lasting peace would. No more bloodshed on either civilian side.

if israels goal is push out arabs, why are there 2 million of them living in it? as equal citizens. it seems like it has issues with specific kind of arabs (just saying). why does israel have 2 peace agreements with countries they once fought? and was about to sign even more. i do agree that the illegal settlements in the west bank should be stopped, and the demonstrations were a part of that, the fear of the legal entity of israel be overthrown by an extreme-religious form of government (like in iran). anyhow, why did the palestinians refuse any territorial settlement since 1947, and tried to annihilate israel ever since? the 1948 war, 1967, and 1973 (wars which they lost and many people fled, but many stayed and now the are 'arab-isralis')

Why he changed his mind about establishing a Jewish state. Watch Mike Prysner from (Iraq veterans against the war) and honest ex Israeli soldiers from (Breaking the Silence). Jews from around Europe were facing extinction and had a place of safety under Muslims ruling and flourished and called it their Golden Age. When the Muslims were defeated and the Spanish Inquisition started prosecuting non catholic and jews, they chose to flee to muslim land in Morocco. Even later Albanian and Bosnian Muslims saved the jews from the Nazis.

Sorry, but your homogenizing perspective is part of the problem. There is no "the Western media." In the papers I read and the newscasts I follow there are complex and differentiated views on the issue and serious debates even within the same publication and the picture that emerges represents the complexity of the issue, where victims on both sides matter and accountability lies with Israeli policy no less than Hamas terror. There is, however, no way out of this, when Palestinians and Arabs celebrate the massacre of Jewish civilians on German streets and an Islamist murders Swedes in Brussels as an add-on, and while Israeli retaliation costing thousands of Palentinian lives isn't severely sanctioned. But surely you are aware that Israel's allies are all pleading, imploring and pressuring Israel, publicly and behind the scenes, to obey international law.
@Woosaidthat

@@thenavajoknowthey’re “pleading” because Israel HAS NEVER followed international law! Had they? This would never had been a problem that’s exploded to this extent. What you need to do is stop seeing this as a Muslim versus Jew issue. This is a Zionists greed versus Muslims issue. The only way you can be OK with Israeli occupation of Palestinian land is if you’re OK with Native Americans getting all their land back. In contrast, in 1948 750,000 Palestinians who had lived in Palestine for generations were forced out in and are not allowed to return, although UN resolutions 194 and 3236 mandated their right of return. In contrast, a Jew from Brooklyn has the right to migrate to Israel. For years, Netanyahu propped up Hamas. Now it’s blown up in our faces : The Time Of Israel “The premier's policy of treating the terror group as a partner, at the expense of Abbas and Palestinian statehood, has resulted in wounds that will take Israel years to heal from” “According to various reports, Netanyahu made a similar point at a Likud faction meeting in early 2019, when he was quoted as saying that those who oppose a Palestinian state should support the transfer of funds to Gaza, because maintaining the separation between the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank and Hamas in Gaza would prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state.” The truth is stranger than fiction.

Both of those things can be true. They are, by definition, terrorists. But you are right that most people would resist ethnic cleansing and apartheid. And while this was often done partly through terrorism in history (even in black South Africa, whom we glorify as heroes against oppression today), it is still wrong and will always be wrong to target innocents. 'Joining the fight' could in theory be a fight against the military forces (only) of the occupiers. Granted, this effort would not succeed anyway (and Israel's propaganda machine would probably still call it 'terrorism'), as the occupiers are backed and funded by the most powerful nations in the world, but it would be morally superior.

In this situation,that was clearly predictable and ideally preventable, I feel like the very least I can do is honor the humanity in this part of the world (and there are like it that get blind eyes and deaf ears from the rest of us) by being as humbly honest as Michael Kosta with questions that reveal ignorance (he has plenty of company) and by continuing to keep focus, for this moment, on this horrific reality that should not exist, and set aside our preference to turn our eyes away. Starting with being a kinder person to others I share the earth with is an obvious first step forward. Thank you for helping some of us who are feeling like we do not matter either, because our caring will supposedly change nothing. The US may indeed be a world power, perhaps THE world power, but with that blessing comes responsibility. I am weary from my own sense of shame at the behaviors of our own elected civil servants. If everyone is created equal, the premise of our constitution, then we can begin helping others in the world by laying down our ill-conceived rights to have fun and behave badly toward others in any setting at any time. I am not ashamed to care deeply about this situation as well as bad manners that seem to rule our lives on a smaller scale. All of it counts. Being nice is the least we can do.What I believe is required, though, is love.
