I'm not a pro at keeping up with Undertale secrets, but is there a connection to Alphys and popato chisps? If it's just the vending machine in the lab, then Sans has a connection to the lab, and not solely Alphys. (Gaster used to run the lab, so it could be a connection to him alone or Alphys alone).

Tabbender I'm not so sure, because remember, every time Sans kills you when fighting him, he recalls how many times he has killed you. Ex: (after he kills you twice) Sans says: "heya. you look frustrated about something. guess i'm pretty good at my job, huh?" "hmm. that expression... that's the expression of someone who's died twice in a row. suffice to say, you look really... unsatisfied. all right. how 'bout we make it a third?" And he continues to taunt you every time he kills you by telling you the number of times he has killed you. If he doesn't remember, then how does he know the number of times he has killed you? He says that he's guessing based on your expression, but the number of deaths are too accurate to just be a luck guess based on expressions.

+Alex Foxx Many people think it's a device designed to bring back gaster from being scattered across space and time. the strange symbols/handwriting is wingdings, the font Gaster speaks and writes in. Gaster is presumably Sans and Papyrus' father. Sans became how powerful he is in the genocide ending in his efforts to learn the rules of the universe and save his dad.

Possibly, also one kinda has to wonder where the skeleton trio come from. Sans and Papyrus have no idea who Toriel was when they meet her, which means they came to the underground after Toriel's self-imposed exile, so after the death of the fallen child. Not only that, but Papyrus doesn't even know what a human is, so it's possible he hasn't even met any of the 6 human who's souls we see.

+kikip345 As far as I can tell, the ability to go back in time (to save/load) is reserved for whoever has the strongest determination, if someone with more shows up they lose it. It seems Sans had that ability but lost it when Flowey was created. I'm guessing Sans didn't understand what happened and desperately worked to restore his powers so he could go back and prevent the tragedy and all. Of course it was useless in the end, but he does at least seem to have enough determination to be partially aware of what happened in previous timelines (for example, he can to an extent keep track of how many times he killed you, or how many times you've killed him in the boss fight) so his "secret codeword" stuff is probably just him BSing you. Not sure why he thought it was a good idea to fuck with someone who has both the power and the sheer pettiness to ruin his whole life, but hey, that's a mystery for another time. :P

From data mining and from the tiniest hints dropped in the game Gaster was in the machine when it broke making him a living paradox because he technically doesn't exist anymore yet when certain codes are put in he appears, and monsters talk about seeing a weird monster they don't know but forgot most of the stuff about him afterwards. He is Wing Ding is both real and nonexistent at the same time.

Nothing confirmed, but it seems that Gaster either fell into The Core or he was in the (time?) machine when it broke, causing him to either die or be scattered across time and space as, as Fist-of-doom said, a paradox. But neither of those theories have been confirmed, of course. We don't even know who Gaster WAS in relation to Sans. Co-Worker? Friend? Lover? Brother? Father? It's such a large unknown but the general consensus seems to be that they know each other in some way. It's completely unknown how, though. Many people think that the presumed time machine was being built in an attempt to fix/eliminate the anomaly that was causing issues in the space-time, but after Gaster vanished, the popular theory holds that Sans continued to attempt to fix it, either to continue in the quest to rid of the anomaly, or to go back to just before the machine broke and save Gaster. ...I can't wait for the sequel.

+Darntsleat100 When Asriel died, his dust was scattered on a flowerbed where he bonded to a flower. That flower was later injected with determination in an attempt create a monster that could pass through the barrier. Determination is something that only humans possess, and it allows them to save and load. Much like how the player revives at their save point after dying, Undyne was capable of coming back to life because she naturally has an abnormal amount of determination for a monster.

It's probably why Sans is so popular. I think when Toby made Sans, he thought that the small skeleton just wasn't as important as the others, so he added many other features to him. Some very mysterious features.....

If you listen to the genocide dialogue it's actually really saddening to listen to that sentence. It's apparent that Sans is depressed knowing that the world will reset not matter what. And in that photo is the one time Frisk notices that Sans is genuinely happy.

Some say that he watched everyone die, especially Papyrus. He knew that Frisk/The Player will reset the timeline before he did, probably he thinks that everything he does is all just for nothing. So he gave up (and suffer seeing their deaths all over again) from the cycle.

+After Math Actually, if you do the Pacifist run on your first run through with everything but alphy's date/secret lab, it allows you to continue the game after you get the neutral ending and do that quest for the Pacifist ending. I just got the game without knowing much and we just beat the game like this. Saved a lot of time to not have to play through it twice~
