Would using rug braiders, they actually fold the material in on itself, my grandmother used them when she made rugs and she used whatever material she had on hand and the largest rug was in the living room and was almost wall to wall think the room was probably like around 18 feet by around 14 feet, she made it when I was too young to understand what she was making, then we moved and never got to spend much time with her but it's never to late to learn something new. And I have enjoyed your videos very much.😁

Thank you for sharing with me. My grandmother made those types of very large rugs before I was born, too. They were in my childhood house when I was young.

Hi, thank you for your great videos! I'm following along and making my first twine rug but am a bit stumped on how to join a new ball to the existing twine. Can you help please?
@RagRugsbyErin
@RagRugsbyErin Год назад
I haven't done it with 2 separate twining balls. I have a video on adding 2 sheet yarn balls together. It might help. It's on my website www.ragrugsbyerin.com free like all my tutorials. It's in the Playlist Rag Rug Information and Help Videos. Also just laying fabric strips from each ball together and continue to crochet them into your rag rug. Please communicate through email ragrugsbyerin@gmail.com is best. Hope that helps.

My over 120 video are on my website www.ragrugsbyerin.com organized better than RU-vid allows. They are all still free. No account needed. Just click on the blue link in the Playlist description and view as many times as you like for free. There is a Playlist dedicated to making sheet yarn.

Hey Erin, how big do you make a rug if it's for a gift? Thanks, Dianne
@RagRugsbyErin
@RagRugsbyErin 4 года назад
That would depend if I know where it's going to be used or just colors someone likes. 24" to 30" by about 18" ish. I don't generally measure but I did because you asked. I make it until it looks done. 😉. Also I usually make rugs and when I think I am going to give a rug for a present I give them a choice between 2 to 4 rugs. They seem to love that!!

I absolutely LOVE the twine. BUT this rug looks very lumpy and "clumpy" to me. I think I would probably fall over it... I'm wondering if anyone has made a sewn type rug with it? Can the twine even be sewn??
@RagRugsbyErin
@RagRugsbyErin 4 года назад
I think sewing the twine would be a great challenge. Putting a needle through the twine, even with an industry machine, would not be easy.

Sorry you are having trouble. You are not adding enough extra stitches as you go around the curves. I have a couple videos on this. I have a playlist on my website that has 2 tutorials on this. The playlist is Rag Rug Information and Help Videos over 40 tutorials. All the tutorials are all still free. You do NOT have to create an account or place them in your cart just click on the blue link in the description of the playlist and view as many times as you like. I hope that helps. Also RU-vid is not a good way for me to communicate. Please email me if you need more help. ragrugsbyerin@gmail.com

Does denim work for making this twine?

I haven't tried it yet however thicker material that I have used works but it's more challenging.

Erin Halvorsen - I have many pairs of jeans in assorted colors that are too worn to donate. They have lots of usable fabric in them... I’m just not sure what to use it for. :-) I’m too frugal to throw it out.
