"You killed her for your own amusement, _there was no need_ " "But that's precisely when it's the most fun!" I love this incarnation, he's so much fun but also utterly terrifying
the voice modulation here may be different but i like that the cybermen inflect their voice and speak in the same way that they did in their first appearance back in the 1960s.
“You-were you not paying attention? I do hate having to repeat myself. *Kills her* I am the Master!” Yeah, this was purely because the Overseer injured the Master’s ego. Of all the people to not pay attention to, you ignore one of the best murderers in the know Galaxy.
She is so smug and 'in control' then he wrecks her plans in a matter of seconds. The Master may be kind of goofy at times, but he is still an evil genius.
@@JamesTobiasStewart Indeed. Another prime example would be how he kills Teremon in the box set The War Master The Master of Callous. Spoilers ahead for this bit. She too believes she was in control and severely underestimated this Master as she interrogated him. But The Master proves how utterly incorrect her thoughts were such as goading Teremon to kill her when she said his life was in her hands and he proves her wrong. Lastly, he gives her an option to ask him 1 of 2 questions which were to either ask where the Swenyo is or whether he would spare her life. Once again, Teremon's arrogance takes hold and she asks the former to which The Master simply said it was the wrong question. He then frees himself and you can hear the tables turn as The Master steps towards Teremon and then The Master reveals that the answer to the question Teremon should have asked was no. It goes to show that this Master is not just a Evil Time Lord. He's one that's patient, intelligent and manipulative.
@@TheAutisticBrony this is our unit, nothing indices otherwise unless it is shown in the other unit audios. if you are referring to the master coming from another universe he originally comes from this and was search for new weapons for the time war. also the cybermen knowledge and this masters originality being from the world indicates this being our (doctor who) world
Yeah Nicholas Briggs brings this up in the behind the scenes CD. Basically he gave these Cybermen’s voices a mix of Nightmare in Silver with Earthshock and with Mondasian Cyberman-esque delivery. He thought that having them speak in a monotone voice as they normally do would sound too boring given how much dialogue the Cybermen have in this boxset.
So all of the good Doctor Who stories become audio clips while the terrible stories are being written and directed onto TV... who made this decision...?
The main point is to meet characters that most likely can’t meet in tv series. Yet it would be far better if they try to write better stories and build a few short spinoff tv series. Personally i can’t enjoy hearing them without a visual. I might better read a book
@@rogersstinson4019 and when he isn't palling around with cybermen, he went and found the Toclafane which are also essentially human heads in some sort of cybernetic machine.
What makes his performance really creepy is his voice never changes, he sounds like a schoolteacher or your favorite uncle telling you a story while he's killing you. Genius :=)
Honestly I think Big Finish works best BECAUSE it's not the main show. They have a team of writers dedicated enough to write stories in only audio forms and can pump out so much volume over the years that the show can't. They can use old Doctor's or just get someone that sounds like them giving near total freedom. At the same time, because they aren't the show they have to work within the confines of the show (for example: if Chibnall wrote for big finish then he couldn't straight change the origin of Gallifrey, the time lords, the doctor, and completely ignore Missy contribution to the Master's character). Plus with the TV show there's so much more politics and pandering and pleasing. The audio dramas are JUST made by people that love Doctor Who for people that love Doctor Who. They don't have to worry about putting on a public image for all the people that don't give a crap about the show other than to scrutinize and politicize it.
@@vullord666 Agreed. At this point most of the Doctor Who stuff I experience is audio. If I only bothered with the TV series I'd probably think of 2020 as a rubbish year for Doctor Who, but as a nutjob for non-TV who when I think of Doctor Who in 2020 I think of all the stuff I love: Time Lord Victorious, Eighth Doctor Time War 4, Shadow of the Daleks, The War Master, Out of Time, etc. This year's also been great, with stuff like Return of the Cybermen, Dalek Universe, Eccleston coming back after a 16-year absence, Out of Time 2, a new War Doctor series and loads more. I've also been experiencing loads of older stuff too.
@@radioactivecheesenowinnucl4746 Man, I’ve only recently found out about Big Finish’s work and I’m starting to think that maybe I should try getting into them. I absolutely love Doctor Who and the thought of all these amazing stories I’m missing out on really tempts me, especially because of all the returning characters and the writing quality which I have heard so much about. I’ve never tried any before though, in fact I’ve never even listened to an audiodrama before, so I’m wondering where to go if I wanted to give them a try, and if there are any in particular you would recommend for someone starting to get into them?
Hi Gareth there was a Master and 3rd Doctor Cyber story planned called The City of the Cybermen or The Cyber City for series 10 but Barry Letts didnt like the idea i found out by this by Terrence Dicks at meet and greet
Is that the master's early laser screwdriver from the heavenly paradigm, sins of the father, the devil you know and concealed weapon and from the war master 3 rage of the time lords that is of course is coming in next month
