Change in rev freaks me out because my ears hear it, and there are two options: 1. Slowing down because turbulence incoming. 2. Engine stopping and we all gonna die.

Great video. I wonder what was up with all the playing around with throttle settings a little while after settling into the climb?

I’ve noticed out out Newark(United) especially with the 777 and 757 they tend to do this, I’m not aware of any noise abatement procedures; it more to me is a United thing, I’ve never experienced on the 737 but the 757 and 777 they power up and down frequently until FL100. It seems to be a United thing to reduce wear and tear on the engines. This particular day was extremely windy and we took off and climbed fast so I’m assuming the power down was to prevent over-speeding the flap settings.
