without Israel alot of things would be very different, for example, less advanced iPhones and any, second no google maybe even youtube is less advanced if it exists, thats only what citizens use imagine all the military tech that would be alot less advanced

Still find it hard to fathom that, before Sykes Picot, there was no real Iraqi identity. I kind of get Syria, as that was an area which had never really had the chance to shine independent of an empire, but Iraq had the national myth of its Mesopotamian ancestors. It really is a testament to how artificial nationalism is, that the Syrians, Iraqis, and Palestinians all didn't see themselves as those identities, but collectively as Arabs

Let’s not forget that North Africa was colonized by the Arabs in the 7th century and that to this day there is conflict over such things as whether native language is allowed to be spoken. Given this deep rooted tension in North Africa, how strong will their involvement be in any Arab State “union?”
