A United Airlines plane rolled off the runway at a Houston airport Friday morning when a gear failed upon landing. CBS News correspondent Roxana Saberi has the details.

Only 1 was Maintence related; the other two were do to pilot error and FOD entering an engine causing damage. But it was a BAD week for United none the less.

Pilot error today unless if there is I e on the runway. Other incidents I suspect are maintenance issues. Do they have mechanics that have been working for years or is there turnover. Need the lifers when it comes to aircraft maintenance.

The wheel falling off could be a maintenance issue, this hasn't been determined yet. The aircraft pushed into the tail of another aircraft was pushed by a ramp worker, nothing to do with maintenance. This MAX was a pilot error, taxiing too fast on a wet runway, went off into the mud and the left gear collapsed.

The landing gear did not fail during landing. The pilots carried too much speed during the turn-off (rushed by ATC), and the aircraft, as the runway & taxiway were wet, slid off the pavement into the grass, and as a result, the left main gear collapsed.

@@Tre-jj8do He’s 100% correct. I have 3,000 hours in Fighters, 2700 hours in the Airbus and 14000 in multiple Boeing models and I’ve never flown a Microsoft Simulator. Hopefully, my opinion matters.

It has nothing to do with the MAX aircraft. Poor judgement while taxiing and nothing more. ATC asked the pilot to “keep his speed up while exiting” and he did just that but the taxiway was wet. Aircraft tires are designed to perform with a frontal load and not a side load ESPECIALLY on a wet runway/taxiway.

Looks like pay cuts & layoffs are the reason for people not giving their full effort or concentration at work. All of a sudden why so many incidents like door, wheel falling and now skidding on the runway. Looks like errors done on purpose.

Just observationally the wheel incident and the gear incident seem to be on relative new Boeing aircraft and given the other recent incidents you have to wonder if there are design problems or quality issues that may be a factor in these two incidents too.

The B777 isn't a new aircraft, and this MAX incident wasn't a gear incident, it was a pilot taxiing too fast on a wet runway. The aircraft slid into the mud, causing the gear to collapse.

Ummm that is incorrect these airplanes go through different levels of inspection, can't take an airplane off the tarmac for a full teardown and audit after every flight. So there are scheduled maintenance and different levels of maintenance that occur.

Yeah all planes have minor incidents. This had nothing to do with the type of aircraft. It was pilot error causing the aircraft to taxi onto the grass, causing some of the landing gear to collapse

EMCS? What is that? The landing gear wasn't the problem on this aircraft. The problem was the pilot taxiing too fast on a wet runway, it slid into the mud, and the gear collapsed. People making @#$% up is what causes problems, too.

Aircraft are pushed back from a gate by airport personnel using a pushback tractor or tugs. Don't blame the airline.

Yes. Totally safe. There is absolutly nothing to be concerned about. These are normal occurrences. Obviously, passenger safety is the number one priority of Boeing, the airlines and the government regulators. 😒
