For those of you who wanted to know how to apply this when putting walking & running in the same tree and transitioning in between, do the same steps. Instead of 9 animations, you'll have 18. 9 walking and 9 running. But, when you're putting in the values for walking, instead of going up to 1 and -1, make sure they go to .5 and -.5 instead. So running to the left would be (-1,0), but walking to the left would be (-.5,0). You can see what that looks like at 0:37. Hope that helps!!!

Does this work with arrows or only joystick???
@harrisonfletcher5901
@harrisonfletcher5901 Год назад
@@harharrr9810 keyboard keys and controller d-pads are instant so you'd only be able to directly control it with an analog stick. To make up for that just have a transition time for changing directions instead of changing directions instantly

Just a tip: if "x" and "y" are going to be values translated directly from a gamepad input, the diagonals need to have a magnitude of 1. So the coordinates starting from North going clockwise should be: (0,1), (.71,.71), (1,0), (.71,-.71), (0,-1), (-.71, -.71), (-1,0), (-.71,.71). Otherwise, you're only getting about 71% of the animation when you're moving diagonally and it'll look like your character is skating. Hope this helps.

Just a tip if blends between animations look weird: If you have blending issues between animations where the blended animation looks not as expected, its probably because the animations are working against each other. E.g walking forward animation with a left foot first step & walk strafe animation with a right foot first step. The blend tree has two animations to blend, where it blends a leg beeing all the way forward from one animation and the same leg beeing all the way back from the other animation, causing the leg to be always in middle of the blended animations. To fix this, go to the animations import options and under "Loop Time" set "cycle offset" to ~0.5 to make limbs having roughly the same position at a certain time into animation. Hope this helps.

It cannot be overstated how perfect these videos are. The precision and lack of fluff is so on point. Amazing work as usual.

Sounds easy, im probably gonna do the Running and Crouching in a different animation tree and in the Unity demo file it only uses 4 + 1 animation so gonna go for that, thanks for the quick tutorial 👍

Thanks, Royal Skies for such a wonderful explanation on blend tree. I downloaded the model from given link but I can't find the animations with model. Can you please let me know from where I can get the animations you used for this tutorial? Thanks

Hi, could you tell how did you make the character's feet to move up or down along the terrain and not keep one foot on the ground while the other one floats? Thanks.

Could you make a tutorial on how to generate rig properly? It seems like the generated rig is never attached to my mesh? I always have to animate with the original armature and I have a feeling that's the hard way to animate lol

I am just going to go out on a limb and say that this is possible to connect this to keyboard right?
@sreliata
@sreliata 3 года назад
Ah!! Royal Skies, I have a very important question. Is it possible to port already existing animations into unity? Say, one has an existing animations as a .fbx format.. - there should be a way to get that into unity, no? O,O
@CosmicComputer
@CosmicComputer 3 года назад
not sure I understand the question fully, but yes you can import any fbx file into unity. In Unity just import as a new asset or drag and drop the .fbx file from file explorer in windows into your unity project file > assets folder.
@TheRoyalSkies
@TheRoyalSkies 3 года назад
Should be. If it's an FBX file, you should be able to drag it into the assets folder of another unity project like Logan said :)
@sreliata
@sreliata 3 года назад
@@TheRoyalSkies I was wondering.. - the animations do already have to be 'on' the model by the time I import, right? It doesn't work that I have just the armature (skeleton) animation as a .fbx which I could drag onto the model (same armature of course, just different animation)? Damn.
@Thesupperals
@Thesupperals 3 года назад
Huh... So, are we trying to ignore using a script for movement?
@TheRoyalSkies
@TheRoyalSkies 3 года назад
We have to use scripts to control the movement. But, this is something you have to do before you can script the Animation. You could program the character to move in any direction without this. But, if you also want the corresponding animation to shadow that movement, that's when you make a tree first -
