I've learned a lot through the years. Strength comes in a lot of different forms. Sure, weights can make us stronger, and cardio can increase our endurance, but there are so many other ways we can get exercise in - we need mobility! These are a couple of exercises that you can gain a lot from by exploring and challenging your body. Jumping can make your joints stronger and more powerful. Climbing uses organic strength. Find yourself some challenges in your environment and play! No gym full-body workout.

Everybody thinks I'm crazy because I didn't come back to the gym 🤣🤣 (after years there), but I don't know why it feels so engaging. Every tree is different and fun in its way. Really enjoyed this video.....you hit it right on the head. I'm soon to be 71 and fully agree about movement. You've learned the truth about exercise at a young age, good for you :) I lifted in the past but not heavy and in my early 40s moved to bodyweight exercise because I found lifting boring. I still workout on my rings ( I have two sets in my garage ), heavy bag, skip rope, walk and do other exercises. Age has slowed me down a bit and I no longer have the energy to workout like I did when I was younger, but I have also learned to adapt and that movement is the real key. When was around 60 I worked for a time as a personal trainer and tried to instill the idea that movement is important, especially in older people. Both gyms I worked in fired me because I told people the truth about exercise, supplements and personal training. The gym owners were out to sell endless personal training to people with minimal results, as well as useless overpriced supplements. I had the older people standing up as much as possible when exercising as most of them sat at home, sat at work, sat in the car etc. The gym owners did them no favors by having them sit for everything. Keep up the good work, you're in great shape and possess "useful" strength as opposed to just looking fit
@Susan-jn3yb

Are supplements not helpful? I have an adult Son who was born with brain tumors - cancer. We use supplements but it is costly. And we never really know if it helps.

What is the truth about excercise? I sincerely am asking because I can't afford to spin our wheels needlessly. We have done plenty of that. Sometimes under the medical communities misguided direction.

"be the adults out there climbing around" Fk yea. That line got me so hyped. I climbed a tree today for a while. It was in a pretty enclosed space with lots of trees and bushes around, but it was right off the highway. Anyway, someone else pulled in and i had this little voice in my head say. "Back to acting human" "be discreet BE DISCREET" Yea, I'm loving the organic movement philosophy and having you be the voice of reason, counter-attacking my self-consciousness and anxiety producing brain demons. ✌️Peace out. Thanks for uploading.

@valwoodford9877

@@StrengthsideAn excellent take on playing outside...anti culture movement is like training a muscle. That makes me braver thinking about it that way. WimHof dipping in the river was hard as it was a public place and so many people stopped to watch but I had to have a mindset. Same with playing in the kids playground on the monkey bars. I am 69 and female and certainly feel strange with all the kids around while I hang off the monkey bars. But I will think of it as training a muscle. I want to climb a tree.

I have not gone back to the gym. Nor did I go back to the pool. Josh mentioned WimHof and I started winter bathing . My life has been changed 🙃 and I am so happy now...consistently. The realization you describe at the very beginning of the video is pretty much what the novelty of CrossFit was about. But I love how you take it further, to experimentation and playfulness. After becoming a CrossFit trainer I am now learning to be a yoga teacher because I was missing that element. Plus mindfulness and non-violence with your body, which often lacks in CrossFit. I found for myself that CrossFit, Yoga and a mostly plant-based diet works best for me. Go exploration!
