I’m telling you right now….. Having danced (SERIOUSLY tap, jazz, ballet) in a competitive troupe from 12-20 something and again in my 30s and being raised LDS…THIS I KNOW…..IT SAVED MY LIFE! I feel your story so deeply, sister. I thank my amazing Mama on a daily for allowing me to be me. Truly. I’m so thankful I didn’t have to wait to KNOW ME. So much love to you, BOTH. 48:05 thank you carah, you can’t make someone want it. Foreplay all day long only works if woman/person has figured out what they like and done all the back work that Faith has talked about. Don’t try to indicate sexual desire by a “slap on the butt” if you haven’t done the work to separate your sexuality from the enmeshed “mine is yours and yours is mine” kind of programming… until each understands that each person’s sexuality doesn’t belong to each other but is their own and they’ve been able to figure out that freedom and ability to stand in their own space and say no to sex without it causing the other partner to fall apart, get grumpy, feel unlovable. Each person has to be able to understand that they are lovable independent of sex. That frees both people up. So until that work is done Don’t try to have foreplay all day long because that will just feel like pressure and lead to duty sex. Only once a person can freely say “no” can they freely say “yes”

I want to thank Faith for sharing her process. It’s so similar to mine and she has said exactly eat it is I’m trying to do. It made me feel good to hear her talk about seeing another woman dance sensually and distance herself from that. It was helpful to hear that she worried about moving sexily in her own body because people would see that she is comfortable with herself and assign something negative to her about it. There was so much, right from the get-go that I have been grappling with for years now. Things I consciously know o have to go and deal with. I love that she said she needed to watch stuff by herself so she could see how she genuinely feels about it and react authentically. Me too!! I tell people all the time that the biggest piece that makes our marriage work and has made us happier than ever before is that we know now that we don’t have to stay together which means we are free to choose to be with each other.

This conversation is so very spot on and insightful. This topic exposes "purity culture" and it's toxic repressive vibration that can be replaced with something more real and validating. Incredible interview with Faith! I am a never-Mormon who is nevertheless deconstructing from my own somewhat similar Christian cult. I also grew up in a highly sexually repressive culture and I too have been recently opening up and exploring my own sexuality outside the bounds of those religious strictures. It is beautiful and wonderful to hear Faith discuss so much of what I am currently going through in my own evolution as I try to answer many of these same questions. It is also wonderful to hear Faith discuss how attractive she finds her husband's curiosity and evolution; my girlfriend has been telling me many of the same things as I have been embarking on this journey, and it helps to hear confirmation that she's not just saying it and that others in a healthy relationship with themselves also see their SO's growth and exploration as sexy and attractive. Thank you again for this interview.

Exmormon here, wife and I left together thankfully. I am learning that I am something like Asexual, and going from Mormon expectations to that is rough and confusing. My wife is nothing but supportive though 🥰 Somewhat related, we've done dance lessons before and I panic attack HARD when going from instruction to just dancing undirected. It's really hard to feel comfortable in figuring what is just inherent to me, vs what is external shit I could in theory work through. I think I don't like sex, and I think dancing is pure anxiety for me, but I don't feel confident in judging either accurately.

I didn't grow up lds but i just got baptized and have already been questioning the church! Ive been looking at porn since i was like 8, lost my virginity at 13 but now im 30 and practice abstinence its been like 2 years since ive had sex! Ive been addicted to porn/sex since i was a kid and thats sad! Growing up without sex education would of been weird and i feel sorry for lds members growing up in the church!

I don’t feel it is a blind spot, it is very purposeful and it is about control and keeping people from going inside for their compass and to give your sovereignty outside of yourself- to church leaders, patriarchy, god, the Holy Ghost…. Anyone outside of your self……

Just one more way that people with good intentions in the church screw up the lives of they claim to care about. Imo this is one of the reasons people sometimes go off the rails following a mission. They've been taught to be so repressed for so long and then One day they wake up in realize everything they missed or are missing. Have you ever noticed that in this religion you can never know if you have been saved? People spend their entire lives not knowing if they're good enough. Trying to strive for an admittedly impossible standard! Keeps a lot of psychologists and psychiatrists and life coaches in business in Utah. Also leads to a lot of needless confusion,, trauma, misunderstandings & suicide. Guilt, shame, manipulation. Where would the church be without them? And I'm not just talking about this church. All of religion thrives on this kind of dogma

Why wouldn't we be ok with pre-marital sex, or with non-heterosexual relationships? Perfectly normal and natural parts of the human experience, and not something we have to cower away from. Listen to this beautiful woman's awesome story about growing out of those needless limitations. It's an aspirational story.

@@caseytaylor1487 Well, the human body in all it's sophistication, didn't happen by randomness. And Yeah, the thousands of years of historicity of the Jews and Jesus point to a relational God. And yeah, given that personal love and faithfullness are to be valued over hedonism, I would say you are hurting yourself by giving your body away.

@@wasprider7239 I would urge you to consider that you were created for far more than hedonism. There is a God. Granted not the moronic god who has hurt many people. But a loving God who created man and women to live in true committed love to Himself and to each other. The Good news is that if you ever get tired of hedonism, there is a God that can forgive and heal you, and satisfy you with HIS true Love by being born again as you were meant to be. Read the Gospel of John and hear Jesus's words at face value.
