Rehab Ultrasound (RUSI) of the abdominal wall (read: core) is critical for avoiding medical gaslighting.
Stretching RARELY fixes anything and at best, is a band-aid for hip, back, and pelvic pain. Watch this video and visual anatomy guide to see how your core is imaged and what pelvic and orthopedic physical therapy should look like when rehab ultrasound imaging is used.
RUSI cuts down on cost to you - and speeds up recovery time because it eliminates the guess work of wondering exactly what is wrong - and instead - identifies problems in real time and allows me to fix them.
What to look out for with medical gaslighting?
🚩Red flag - If a PT or medical provider tells you they are going to help you isolate transversus abdominis to strengthen or recruit it.
🚩Red flag - If your PT or medical provider tells you that you just need to stretch out your hip, back, or pelvic floor.
🚩Red flag - If your PT or medical provider isn't referring you to someone who is an expert in RUSI. It's essential unless you want to waste a lot of time and money having someone guess at what is wrong.
🚩Red flag - If someone tells you that breathing doesn't have anything to do with your back or hip pain.
🚩Red flag - If someone tells you vagal tone has nothing to do with back (or any MSK) pain.
This is just scratching the surface on what we can do to identify the ROOT CAUSE of back, hip, or pelvic pain. Thanks for watching.
