The last sequence of chokes and locks is the most technically sound. That guy knows his grappling. The rest of the techniques all had at least one basic flaw.

however i would add that when facing your opponent and standing you would probably not be looking for those chokes when he is punching or kicking you but rather you use them when you happen to be close and opportunity arises.

Add non-compliance to this and 90% ain't gonna happen. Pressure test it with a guy thats punching and fighting you every step of the way. And show these in real time. Don't worry nobody will expect you to.

@@cymba729he is right though. The head and arm choke (that the guy mistakenly called triangle) was pretty bad. And the shirt chokes are definitely not good to do in a t shirt while standing. That's what not pressure testing stuff will bring.

@@wreckyface7620 i dont recall him calling it a triangle choke if you are speaking of the technique no.4. if that is the case i can tell you i have choke out someone with and head , arm tie with collapse hand grip which is worse than what was shown by the instructor. now the students demonstration was weak. but the instructors tech appears to be effective. like i said have brought ppl down with what i would assume a less effective hand grip. as for the shirt chokes. i am not sure you understand or pay attention to what the end goal was and to your point maybe is shouldnt have been added to a video titled "choke outs" but the instructor was clear that it was utilized as a control feature and not a finishing move.

@@cymba729 well speaking of the shirt control, it's totally useless. It wouldn't be useful even in a gi which is way stronger than a t-shirt and wouldn't rip apart because you have no control over the rest of the body. You can't hold such a grip when the opponent is fighting with his whole body to get out from it. Hell he would get away even just running in whatever direction. For controls in judo and BJJ it's imperative to be controlling a big portion of the body (in judo this is actually a principle, called Shiho) because otherwise it wouldn't work as a control. And that is when groundfighting, which a situation much more difficult to get away from rather than standing.

These techniques work regardless of gender. The trachea is quite fragile and everyone has one. It's easier to visualize on a male with a prominent Adam's apple. In fact, both men and women have the same structures in the throat, it is just more prominent in men. Remember to be careful with trachea, or airway chokes. They can cause permanent damage. Carotid (blood) chokes are less damaging. We give examples of both because it's important to know the options.
