Most wanted match right there it feels pretty surreal to see and hear it for real but damn does it feel good the track has it all,it goes super hard,has that tragedy through it all and a very brutal violent sound to it all the while feeling extremely determined no matter what like they both are seeing a clear path and neither take even a single step back no matter what's in their way how very fitting. Art is also an eye candy like jesus that's absolutely insane absolutely love it as well. As for who i think wins in an ironic twist of fate i'd say it's Kaneki who will pull through in the end his far greater speed,regeneration coupled with power and the sheer versatility of his kagune plus Dragon being the ultimate uno reverse to Eren's founding titan and his army should be able to take this. Least Eren may not have had a happy ending at the end of the tunnel compared to him but he will finally be free from his torments here.

Surprised that this didn't get a commission until now, especially since Bayverse Prime, Guts and even Yuichiro got tracks before Eren vs Ken did. Glad we finally got one though, and it's amazing.

I recently started reading Tokyo Ghoul and I absolutely love it and this track is GHOULISHLY GOOD (sorry if that sounded bad, I really tried to make a pun out of it)!

Such an immaculate track... It feels tragic, desperate, and yet somehow hopeful squeezed deep below. I haven't watched AoT, but I have read Tokyo Ghoul. And man, its so nice to finally see this anime/manga matchup get a VS track. Like Cardcaptor Sakura vs Sailor Moon, Guts vs Clare or Denji vs Yuji, it's one of those popular anime matchups that just works, ya know? The track art slaps so freaking much, god. Great work to everyone involved, this matchup and the track is simply impeccable!

Man I remember back in 2018 how I wanted to see an animated fight between this two They’re literally quite the perfect matchup. Both became what they hated the most (ghoul and titan), at some point became villains of their respective series, both have a commander(?) which is characterized as the strongest of huma if I recall (Levi and Arima), both have a transformation of massive proportions (Dragon and Founding Titan), both have an army in those transformations (Dragon Orphans and Rumbling Titans). Honestly Tokyo Ghoul deserved better to what happened to the anime because the manga is just chef’s kiss. As to who I think wins this match up I gotta go with Kaneki because of more versatility, speed, regeneration (though I think both are even in that)

BOUT FRIGGIN TIME THIS GOT A TRACK

Always enjoy it when we get more heavy style music

Out of all the tracks Brandon Yates has released this is by far my favorite. The epic yet tragic guitar along with the vocal chorus in the background fits so well for both, the song itself feeling like a last stand for both as they fight to the death, both fighting to stay alive so they can bring a better tomorrow and keep whatever ideals they have alive. The final guitar part keeping in the background as the piano starts before stopping shortly after as the guitar continues to fade before the song ends makes it feel as if the losing combatant is holding onto the shred of life they have left before the winning combatant finishes them off in a brutal or merciful way. This track is a 10/10 from the beginning to the end.

Y'know I find it funny how just yesterday in the Yates Discord we were talking about Eren matchups (and how Eren VS Bayverse Optimus Prime is one of the most epic MUs ever, don't @ me) and wondering how this was funny how this track had yet to be commissioned yet. And less than 24h later, this releases so that's pretty funny. Also damn that's a cool track art. As for the song itself, I was pretty hyped up given it's a very popular matchup so it was quite obvious that it'd get quite the effort put into it, and seeing that it's a "Faux-God Mode" track in the description hyped me up even more. I didn't exactly know what to expect as all of Eren's tracks have been very distinct so far and Ken's only had one track which was extremely unique, helped by the featuring of Infotron in it, so I was really curious about it. And in the end ? Damn that's a good track. As I said above I really didn't know what to expect but an orchestral metal track makes a lot of sense for such a matchup all things considered. Even more so when it's done as well as this one is. It perfectly combines the brutal, militaristic and merciless side of those two characters with the heaviness of the metal and choirs of the song while still covering the more subtle and tragic side they have with the calmer and emotional segments the track has. I'd like to go over each bit of the song I like but honestly there's so much I enjoy about it that I'm probably gonna miss some either way, so might as well do it the old fashioned way and try to go about it chronologically. First of course being, well, the start of the song. And just for the very beginning at the starting second I love the small detail of having a short electronic "skittering" sound, perfectly fits those two characters to have some insect imagery shown through the song some way or another. It's a small thing but damn it sounds good. Then, with little surprise, the song starts right away in an extremely intense and powerful way that feels actually somewhat chaotic which feels like a really nice way to showcase those two's ideals: they won't hesitate to go for a kill shot right away if they can so the track having barely any time to start makes perfect sense. This is then followed by a very short break that then cuts to the first use of choirs in the song at 0:13 and I really like the choice of choirs for this first use of them. They're constant yet not overwhelming in power, more like backing instruments. This is a good way to represent those two's more altruistic ideals by featuring a "softer" choir to mellow out the powerful instrumental which would make sense as, at the start of the fight, those two wouldn't hate one another's guts right away. And I quite like how this then follows into the first "real" break of the song at 0:34 which, along with its following segment, feels much softer than the previous parts of the song. Combined with the "softer" choirs, this leads into a really well done personification of how those two would probably identify with one another to some extent about their ideals, perhaps even seeing some true to the other's points only to then fall back into conflict at 0:56 when they start to realize that they're still enemies and have diverging view points Which leads into the second choir type in the song at 1:07. And damn do I like this second choir type. It feels so militaristic, heavy duty and absolutely brutal. It perfectly fits those two characters as it wonderfully reflects their ideals and behavior: they are soldiers so of course their most serious state would be backed with militaristic choirs. What then follows is a relatively straightforward progression with similar things as what was stated before being showcased. It's really enjoyable for sure but for the sake of this review not going over the character limit I'll need to skim over it despite its quality as I want to get to the rest of the song which is its highlight IMO. And what I mean by "rest of the song" is everything beyond 2:35. As said right before, the beginning of the track is absolutely great but this timeframe in the song marks a significant change in how the track is and actually marks to me what actually puts it in God Mode territory. The short complete break followed by an extremely sad and melancholic violin followed by a reprise of said melody in a way more powerful way to signify the song's transition just screams to me the transition from regular jump gear (or however it's named, forgot) Eren to Attack Titan Eren after he's "struck down" by Ken as it'd be *the* first and perhaps biggest major shift in the fight for this matchup. Something that's clearly audible in the song itself too as the track takes on a much grander and more emotional scale. It still keeps the same traits as before but now it goes all out with the power at which it showcases them: the emotional segments are much more emotional while the brutal segments are mixed into the emotional ones and given even more power. This makes the entire rest of the song stand out even more than it would otherwise and for the better. It truly feels at this point in the track that the battle has escalated from two individuals to two ideologies and groups fighting one another but all the while still keeping what caused those two to become what they are now clearly audible as a way to remind the listener that, if they are the way they are now it's because of what came before and nothing else. And this translates even better in the following segment of the song starting at 3:58: the ending. It somehow takes what was already increased in scale before and makes it even grander. Obviously to me this would be the finale where Eren goes into his Founding Titan form, summoning the Rumbling while Ken pulls out his one massive Centipede form or however it works (I'll admit, I've never seen nor read Tokyo Ghoul). Here the song pulls back any and all brakes and just completely lets out, combining everything about the song all at ounce which forms a true climax of everything the characters stand for: the powerful militaristic instrumental and choirs to represent their determination and violence, the constant and tragic violin to showcase the sacrifices they've done and how they're constantly affected by them and of course the more "calm" yet more constant choirs there to contrast with the more brutal ones to showcase how, as they are, they both believe that they are doing the right thing for everyone. It's a really great conclusion to me as it truly feels like a culmination of everything the song built up to which also reflects on the characters themselves as the them they are at the end of their series is, even more so than any other franchise out there, a culmination of the events and knowledge they've been put under influence by. So the song having this feeling for its ending is a perfect conclusion to this. And of course just in terms of raw quality it absolutely does fit the God Mode title even if just in name because damn it sounds amazing, almost makes me wish this final segment was longer but it's already great as it is. Overall this track is one that was about on par in quality with this matchup's reputation if not actually better: it's a really solid song that definitely strikes above its weight class in quality and even if it's got some strong contenders, damn it still is appreciable either way. It fits all sides the characters and features a lot of depth of writing which is more than commendable given depth is one of the key factors of those characters, one that'd be a massive shame not to exploit for a song about them fighting one another. This is one of the things I was a bit apprehensive about at first before listening to the song: I was worried that, similarly to the last song that featured Eren (Titanfall) which is honestly the first Brandon Yates song in ages that I've learned to actually dislike, the track would only keep a very shallow representation of the featured characters and focus on just a tiny bit of their personalities. But instead the song massively surprised me in the best of ways by not just sounding good but doing so while showcasing a level of depth that actually fits the characters all the while excelling in its raw audible quality. Wonderful job with this.

This sounds like something you'd hear in AoT, not sure about Tokyo Ghoul though, the only things I know about it are Ken's origins and "anime bad, manga good". I also hear Ken wins which sucks for me personally cause AoT might be my favorite anime (that or Mob Psycho 100, still debating with myself on that one), and seeing Eren die will give the sadness. Given how strong Eren has become, I think this will be a easy win

While Eren does come from a much weaker universe to my understanding, If Eren’s Titan god transformation is a thing that if he has use of in a death battle, my money is on Eren, it’s something that some modern weapons wouldn’t be able to take out unless you get a good hit on it. No really, think about it, give Modern humanity the task of taking that thing out with out Modern humanity coming from the world of attack on Titan and knowing about the nape weakness, how is it going to go down, oh and that thing has Warhammer Titan hardening which can become hard enough to resist nuclear like explosions scaling from The armoured titan resisting nuclear explosions from the colossal titan, the attack titan having armour/hardening strong enough to puncture the armoured Titan, the jaw titan having claws and teeth so sharp it can rip that armour to shreds, and the Warhammer titan resisting the jaw and its attack potency and damage requiring prolonged effort to actually puncture. Plus Titan bodies produce heat the larger the tighten the more heat, how long before Eren opponents just overheats and dies trying to fight that thing, I mean where do you start attacking,

Here is how I see it. There are going to be two ways this could end - Ken Kaneki must slowly pick his way through Eren's Defenses until he finds a weak point (which may take a while, considering Eren's Size and Regenerative abilities) before Eren could either crush him or eat him (Which he can do, considering a tintan is about 10x stronger than the average ghoul). In other words, Ken must overwhelm Eren before Eren could hit him. As for the Dragon vs Founding Titan, that I would love to see.

Now that "The AOT Anime" is over and the rumored possibility of an anime remake for Tokyo Ghoul, I think it's likely for this match-up to actually happen in Season 11 of DEATH BATTLE. Also Ken Kaneki FTW.

As much as I enjoy Attack on Titan, isnt this a massive stop in Kaneki's favor?

I think Eren wins, because he can asctually change the past and see the future, he would find a way to kill Kaneki. I dont see Kaneki defeating somene with this abilities, without it of course Kaneki stomps. But since Eren would know everithing would happended in the fight, i think he would cristalize Kaneki and then break him in pieces. I think the battle will end with erens Rumbling agains Dragon Kaneki, and whe Kaneki is near to kill titan eren, he would appear underground revealing he changed something during the fight and send an army of warhamer titans from all generarions and starts to cristalize Kaneki, after that employ all jaw titans to break it and finally kill kaneki. Of course he is weaker, but that hax is op.
