Hey movie fans! You love these videos and so do I! It is so fun to bring a spotlight to soamy great bit forgotten, missed and overlooked films! Pop that tape in, I got you let's go do this!
I love Judgment Night. The bulk of my 80s albums and a lot of my 90s albums were movie soundtracks. This is one of the first of several soundtracks that I'd lost that I had to buy again. This was just as my band was reaching its peak, and we had already been experimenting with mixing elements of rap and metal with our industrial style. I was thrilled to see some of these guys, like Biohazard, being featured in a major motion picture.
@@AVAPopCulture I really wish it had a better Blu-ray release than just the Warner Archive. It would be great to see a release from a boutique label with lots of special features.
Another one I’d recommend, especially for people that liked Judgement Night, is Walter Hill’s “Trespass.” I contend that those flicks, “Surviving the Game,” and “No Escape” should be released in a “Flicks you saw on HBO on a weeknight during high school” collection.
I have not seen Tresspass, but I do tend to like most of Walter Hill's stuff!! and isnt it funny, I associate a lot of movies with stuff like that -there are a whole bunch of films that I think of as late night Friday and Saturday night Superstation TBS movies movies/horror movies and Movies for Guys Who Like Movies type stuff lol
"Booty Time! Booty Time! Across the USA!" "Well, hello Mr. Tongue...what a perve!" "Yeah, you wish." "What...you didn't really think we'd kill the fuckin' koala bear, now, did ya?" Ford Fairlane is stupid brilliant.🤣 I'm pretty sure Wild Cats was my introduction to Goldie Hawn...that bathtub scene is the only thing I remember, I have no idea why😒 🤣🤣🤣
I saw Judgment Night and Timeline in theater. Goldie Hawn is probably my favorite actress of the 80s most of her movies are really good. How about a top 10 foreign movie video?
You finally came up with one i don't own....Quarterback Princess. I did see it years ago on tv and don't know what physical releases it's had since vhs if any. I actually have the original releases of The Adventures Of Ford Fairlane on dvd and the rare oop blu ray. Most of the rest i have on dvd but have Wildcats (Shout Factory), Judgment Night (Warner Archives) and D.C. Cab (Kino) on blu ray. I'm thinking Firewalker might've had a blu ray release (maybe Olive). The Forsaken i bought on dvd way back when it first got released (and really need to revisit it because ive forgotten most of it).
Yes I have seen all but two of those, and I absolutely love moving violations, was glad to finally find it on DVD, but I still have it on VHS lol. I have not seen quarterback princess, or forsaken but I do know of it.
Judgement Night is one of my favorite Emilio Estevez movies. I own the BD. Another recommendation would be Charlie Sheen in Beyond the Law. This needs a BD release. Great biker movie that was inspired by true events.
I have Timeline its great. I’m from the UK so I’m a fan of Billy Connolly he is good in that movie. I think I saw Wildcats years ago but the others I haven’t seen so thank you I will try to check those out .
The old guy is back. I will have you know, I have seen nine of these films. The only one I haven't seen is 'Forsaken' so I need to definitely check that out. You want to hear something else that will blow your mind? Of the nine films I have seen, the only one I DIDN'T see in a theater was 'Quarterback Princess'. All the others I saw in theaters, yes, even 'Wildcats' and 'Ford Fairlane' (which I saw at a drive-in).
At least I got 1 you hadn't seen! That's why I said at the start that it is hard to get a list filled with every movie everyone has never seen because after all, I've seen them all lol so surely other folks have too! But if I can bring some back up that folks forgot about or haven't seen, then it is all good!
@@AVAPopCulture I wasn't really being critical of the list, mind you. I was just pointing up what a geek I am. In the 1980s, when I was finally free from my parents' house, I watched everything at the movies, even things I didn't think I'd like. When you brought up 'Moving Violations' I laughed out loud. I remember Bill Murray's brother trying to come across like Trip in 'Meatballs'... "You guys... are nutty!"
Hey, thanks! Yeah, forget about studying film in college and forget about being a filmmaker, most of this comes from many nights at my great-grandparents farm with nothing to do but watch movies and TV or watching every obscure b movie in the world with my dad LOL....I've got lots more 🤣
Only Blu Ray I ever found for Ford Fairlane that wasn’t stupidly expensive was about a year ago, someone put out a special edition in Germany. Still hoping Shout Factory or Kino or Arrow might do something with it.
I picked it up on a DVD recently because I gave up trying to find a blu-ray for it...not sure why it hasnt come out on some other format from some other boutique!!!
The only movie that I've never watched on this list is Quarterback Princess, I feel like if this movie was made in 2024, it would be really heavy handed and annoying, but I'll give it a shot because movies from the 80s could do social commentary without it feeling like a lecture. Big fan of Judgement Night, I watched that movie so many times on cable as a kid and Denis Leary makes a better villain.
thanks man! I am not a big Deniro guy but you'll find some more drama films on my most recent list! there just arent as many true drama's made, so probably maybe it is harder to overlook them?... I also just dont tend to fire up dramas as much to watch but there are tons of them I love!
I remember seeing Timeline in theaters. Wildscats, Wesley Snipes & Woody Harrlesons 1st movie together (plus that tub seen😍lol). I got Wildcats on Blu-ray, no 4K yet. Ford Fairlane is my shit! "He's a poet & didn't know it... Ahhhhhhh....." 🤣
firewalker is a fun movie. it has that Indiana Jones vibe with a dash of Lethal Weapon. DC CAB is my personal favorite rowdy raunchy comedy. the cast is truely a motley crue of a B-movie misfits bunch. Busy is a pretty much himself in that movie. gotta love crazy Garry. Moving Violation LOL underrated with very odd cast. you should check out Meatball Pt. 2. it one of the better Meatball sequels. 3 was ok, 4 has it's moments. Judgement Night is a wild movie. Leary is great as a bad guy. I love Ford Fairlane. it was indeed hard to get on home video in the US nowadays. the movie got extremely short lived in threaters. Dice at the time the movie came out was already a big deal but also a big target with religous and women's groups looking to bust his balls every which way but Sunday. there was a inside joke about getting banned from MTV. Six Pack is another very hard to find gem. it a featuring film debut of the late Kenny Rogers as a washed up race car driver. it on dvd but it dirt cheap. never got a blu ray treatment.
Whenever a book is turned into a movie, it is always going to be difficult because whenever you read the book, it is always going to be able to give more details than can ever be put into a movie, and your imagination is going to create everything you visualize based on the details in the book, so in that regard, a movie will never be able to live up to it! I recommend both LOL.
